Yo, stepping out for the first time at Nipsey’s and I am impressed. The owner and staff are personable and about his business! The food is great, the venue is nicely set up and the drinks are 100%!!! Definitely a diamond in the rough! The week line up is well over due for the area. Great Job!!! –Elle

Good drinks, good food, good music and great ambience! It’s like the true Nipsey’s on Martin! I’m soooo glad we got a new spot like this in Upper Marlboro. Happy hour Wednesday are awesome! There’s always events going on here. They have a back patio and a house band. You gotta check it out! Tonight is international wave your flag Saturday and its jumping!

Never heard of this place until recently. Didn’t know they had a Nipseys in real life and not just on Martin! Got invited out to a spoken word event here. It was very packed when I walked in so had to stand around the bar which was also packed. Ordered a mixed drink and it was $ 12! For a tiny plastic cup mostly filled with ice — not worth it. My friend ordered some drink with ciroc — $ 17!!! Say what now? Smh! I didn’t order any food so can’t speak on that but definitely not impressed with this place. Maybe I will give it a try another time but certainly not in a hurry to go back.

Great place to get together with friends, listen to music and see a band. I went for a birthday get together. The seating area between the band space and bar is narrow. Nice, neat and low key place that I’d consider using for a party, especially since parking is fantastic. huge, private lot! Service staff was nice, but it was rather slow for the small crowd that gathered. We ordered drinks from our table, not from the bar. I can’t comment on the food other than the fries. They were raw cut fries and not my favorite. You can’t and just shouldn’t mess up fries! They reminded me of Wendy’s first version of their current fries. Wendy’s has improved over time; Nipsey’s hasn’t. If the fries are a precursor to the rest of the food, I’ll pass. TIP: Familiar Faces(the band) plays here regularly– Thursdays?

Went here on Veteran’s Day with some GGFs for happy hour. Let me start with the good: 1) The drinks were good and strong enough. 2) They have definitely improved the«look» of the place. 3) The owner was there and very friendly/committed to our having a good experience. 4) The servers were nice and efficient. Here is the bad: 1) The crab balls were not good at all. The first batch was a total fail and the owner happily went in the back and prepared news ones for us himself. However, the crabmeat they’re using has a bit of a «bleachy» taste to it. Weird. 2) The jerk chicken was not flavorful, just HOT. Too much of the jerk seasoning. 3) The friend wings were kind of bland. 4) Even though we were told that everything was $ 2 off for happy hour, this was NOT applied to our food items on our bill. 4) And the piece de resistance: there was a food & beverage tax on our bill of like 17%! We were soooooo not prepared for THAT. That was even more outrageous than eating and drinking in DC! This was very disheartening because the food was not great. I really wanted to like this place with the new ownership and their great ideas, but they missed the mark a bit on food quality and the pricing left us traumatized. We MAY return when there is a live band playing but we WILL be eating and drinking in advance. :O)
