John Farr Lighting Design

This is perhaps the most unprofessional business I’ve dealt with. I have an upcoming wedding coming up in the fall and heard that their work was good. I have ASKED THREE TIMES For a proposal to no avail. The first time I called, an assistant answered and told me that someone will follow up with me a few days later. A WEEK later (I gave the benefit of the doubt, they were probably busy), I followed up and spoke to the sales manager– I think his name was Eric. I had to give the info (my vision, emailed pics, etc) that I provided on the first time that he never apparently rec’d. I even concluded the phone call saying, «please don’t forget» to which he assured he would send it that night or the following day which was a lie. At the end of the week, I called and spoke to the owner, J. Farr frustrated as ever, and he assured me that was unacceptable, blah blah blah. It’s now a week later and nothing. STAY AWAY from these guys… I’ll be damned if I have to beg to spend my money for their services…

I had seen that another wedding at Old Ebbitt Grill had featured uplighting and was intrigued. I didn’t consider it initially, because the space doesn’t really seem to need any enhacements which is great, but after reading the review of the bride who said it transformed the room, I was interested.
Yes, it seems like a lot of money for just light, and it is expensive — but the effect is dramatic. I really did waver quite a bit about actually going forward with the uplighting because it truly seems like one of those unnecessary details, but I honestly believe it made a difference in the end.
I dealt with John Farr completely via email. He was responsive and provided the info I needed — there was no drama or upselling. There was actually very little contact required!
When we arrived at the venue, it was still light out and even then we could see what effect this had on the room. By the time it got a bit darker, the impact was awesome.
We had blue uplighting to complement our color theme and it was gorgeous! Looking now as our photos come back — they look so awesome and the lighting effects are a big part of it. It also helped to give a real «event» feel and was truly the element that pulled the look of the night together.
I would do this again in a heartbeat and I am glad to have had John Farr lighting as part of my wedding!
