The best thing about this café is that it is open late, until 8pm and used to be until 10pm. Maybe the hours will change if people come more in the evening. I had tasty tea and a delicious chocolate chip cookie that was heated up. The person working there didn’t seem very clean, if I’m being honest. But they have WiFi and, though the café is small, there is ample seating. I’ll likely be back.

My experience at this café was the worst I’ve ever been to. The employees didn’t know the ingredients in their pastries. I asked what ingredients were in their macaroons only to get told its«Standard cookie recipe» «…without any eggs» We bought the one macaroon, in which they handed it to us without a bag or box to carry it in. So we left with our one macaroon in hand(literally) to eat it in the car. I’ve never eaten a macaroon before but rocks were softer than that macaroon.

An amazing bakery owned and operated by an amazing young woman and her team. A very pleasant place to come to enjoy excellent and unique pastries not found in your everyday bakery in an atmosphere meant to relax and feel like home.

Very poor and rude service. I will never be coming back. The man behind the counter was very slow with getting the people in front of me their drinks. After he served them their drinks he looked and me and then began cleaning, refusing to serve me. I had my wallet in hand and was waiting in front of the cash register for a good few minutes while the man kept on glancing at me then back at the things he was cleaning, not once saying something to me. I ended up walking out and will never be coming. I didn’t do anything to deserve this disrespect and I will never be coming back.

Great location for a needed bakery in the area. Friendly staff that are welcoming. I enjoyed the cream of Broccoli soup(though not made from scratch just microwaved) the croissant was a tiny bit hard but I dipped in the soup and it was fine and I topped it off with green tea. A second time I came I had a coffee cake which was delicious! Good meet up place with a couple of friends. Tables and couch available. The dark red wall gives you more of a trendy look than a cosy atmosphere but is still worth stoping by!

My family loves Sweet Wheat! We have tried many of their fresh baked items and everything was delicious. My husband LOVES the coconut pound cake. I’m in Love with the red bean filled pastries and my kids always get the large chocolate chip cookies. They sometimes have egg custards and their sandwiches are very yummy! We like to visit both locations. Our kids like the playroom at the location in the Alicia Building and it’s free! It’s a relaxing place for mom’s to meet up if they have little ones.(Age 1 – 4) and get a tea and macaroons. Free WiFi and nice décor at both locations. I can’t say enough good stuff about Sweet Wheat! The owners are super friendly and welcoming!

Wanted to support our local fire station by purchasing pastries from a local business, but when I called to order they told me to call back later because they couldn’t «understand» me, meaning they couldn’t understand English!

If you live over here, come by and get your coffee and pick up a fresh baked pastry. Plenty of parking located on corner of Bridgeport Way and S. 19th St Upsides: Smiley friendly service Willing to do right Coffee is good via small local company(free stamp card buy 10 drinks get 1) Free refill-just ask Plenty of seating Bright Current music playing at the right loudness Has a small sitting area for reading books in back Free wifi(ask for the password) Downsides: Limited bakery items Croissant was not fresh flakey as should be-stale Upsides are definitely outweigh the down, but I would stick with coffee or try baked goods at own risk until they figure things out. They’ve been open 2.5 months at this point, so there is a learning curve. If you want to be a bakery, you need fresh goods that taste good as I love me some good baked items. My experience is a 4 stars because the girl really felt bad. It was most unexpected, but she gave me a free drink coffee card and another edible. I’d say she more than made up for it. We had a very nice discussion about my bakery adventures. Very receptive to ideas. I will give it another go to support a small business. Sometimes it’s good to take a break from the big boy chains. :)

This little coffee shop is just exquisite. It falls under the five principles I look for when I’m out trying new places which is why this café deserves a 4.5 star, although Unilocal doesn’t allow halves. The first principle is the environment/ambiance of this café. The décor is lovely and inviting. They offer table seatings, counter top seatings, and single sofas. There’s also a tv and music in the background which settles at a good volume because I was able to concentrate on my book without distractions from the other noises. There’s a bookshelf in the back room as well with a wide selection children’s and adult’s. The second principle is the customer service. I was greeted by a very friendly woman and I just have to say she was very happy and excited which is quite the change from what I normally get from other coffee shops. Btw this was my second time here and both times I saw this lady she was extremely welcoming. My coffee and sandwich was brought out to me and so was my refill of coffee. The third principle is the taste and presentations. I ordered the medium House drip, served in a ceramic cup. The waitress offered free refills on medium sized drips which was a plus because i was never offered refills before in a coffee shop. When my coffee came i was offered sugar and cream. I don’t really like adding sugar to coffee so i just took the cream. The cream came in a cute little ceramic cream dispenser. I also ordered the Sweets Ham sandwich which came on panini bread. When my sandwich came out i was surprised it came with a side of fresh salad and orange slices. The sandwich itslef was savory but the dressing was sweet and I thought it really complimented each other. The house drip was good but not as strong as Id expected. The fourth principle is cleanliness. The café was neat and tidy and in great condition. They have two bathrooms female n male, another plus.(Don’t enjoy using public unisex bathrooms because I find them messy n unclean). Nothing dirty stood out to me, the café was spot on perfect. Fifth principle is overall experience. Everything was great and I was satisfied. Reason why I gave 4.5 star though is because both times I came, they were out of what I asked for.

This is the new second location for Sweet Wheat and it’s in a very nice spot — much easier to get into and out of than their other nearby store. Spacious but cozy inside — it was a nice place to stop for a coffee on a rainy Tuesday morning. All we had were coffees and sampled several of the pastry offerings but everything was perfect. Great coffee, yummy pastries, and the two young ladies working the counter and kitchen were both very friendly with excellent service. They mentioned this location will soon have a beer and wine license and they’ll start offering live music as well. That should be a really nice addition to the offerings in the UP/Fircrest area. All in all, a very nicely done effort and I think they’re going to do quite well in this spot.
