Went here two yrs ago for a friends birthday party and it was pretty great. Big and had a great mix of music. The only reason why I’m giving this place three stars instead of five is because of the security. My group was walking out and there was a hold up at the door and some security guy pushed me and started flashing his light in my face. I explained to the guy that I was waiting for the crowd to move and why he pushed me and all he could do was get in my face and yell and cuss at me to «Move the Fu** out of the walk way» Complained about this and the chick I spoke to(sadly don’t recall her name) chuckled a bit after I told her about their security there. Hung up on the Bit** Glad it’s closed and being remodeled. hopefully they remodel their staff too.

Woah, do I really hate this place. I forget how much it was to get in, but not worth it. I came here because my girlfriend wanted to try this place for her birthday. It’s ghetto, and it belongs in the slums somewhere. I love the über cheesy Cuban décor, and it makes me sad that it is such a shithole place. I will never return here again, unless someone really requires me to. First, let me say the security guys are rude as hell. My boyfriend said that they have to be abrasive because they are dealing with drunk people, but there is no reason that I should pay to be anywhere where the people feel entitled to be mean to me. Why should you have the right to look down on me when I enter your establishment? I don’t see why anyone would want to do this. I hope that no one ever comes here, and I hope that it goes out of business. These guys are just too rude. You shouldn’t let anybody treat you like crap when you go out. They act like prison guards, hell no. I’m not a delicate person, but I refuse to be belittled. I draw the line, mister!!! My Long Island Iced Tea was good. The dance floors are very small, shoulder-rubbing and hella shoe-stepping. If you take off your shoes, the guard will hit you and make you put it on. If you don’t walk fast enough on the stairs, the guard will tell you to hurry up and get out of the stairway. I hate these people, and I couldn’t believe all the people I saw allowing themselves to be treated this way. I guess this is where hispanics come to say that they went to and partied at City Walk. Seriously, I just loathe and abhor this place. Did I mention that I liked my drink? The music was weird because it’s like my family parties back in the early 90’s, and then they throw pop at you and reggeaton and even hip hop but then No Te Metas Con Mi Cucu again – and believe me that was the bulk of the stuff. The looks of it would be nice if it was a nice place, but no. Plus, what’s with the effing prison guards? People grinding on the floor, if that offends you. I don’t really mind. I laugh and I know that I am at a place where the people are much younger than I, or just sleazy but hey! A lot of nylon and spandex, so I wouldn’t feel so intimidated if I were you. I hate this place. It is oozing of rudeness and should not be allowed to survive. Why do people come here WHY??? I guess that some sleazy people are used to getting treated like crap, and that is why this place stays in business. I will start a movement against it – that is how much I hate it.

AVOID the sunday salsa lessons… even though it was a free lesson the salsa instructor was the biggest A HOLE… as far as I knew the salsa lessons were for beginners and this short mongolito instructor has the nerve to make rude comments about the new dancers… What an ass ill skip this joint and go somewhere that has respect for their patrons. Not to mention the goons at the door with their over zealous searches and their no hats or gum polices, they talk to you like your five years old… and at least if your gonna grab my crotch… buy me dinner first goons! Happy clubbing to all, but not here!

bottle service got us in free. $ 260 for a bottle of absolut, split amongst four people. our lounge area was pretty cool. security was pleasant and so were our attendants. i’m honestly not a big club person, and i was the DD for the night, but i had fun. and it seemed like everyone else has fun too. and apparently, sitting in the bottle service area attracts random women to dance on your lap while you’re texting on your phone. ha, i got two lap dances courtesy of two strangers, of whom, i didn’t even get names of. noooice! logistics is good. parking is plentiful. lots of room to dance here. music was ok. the new DJ for night had a little miscue with power, but his hype man saved his arse. but quite honestly, unless my friends need a DD for the night, i don’t see myself coming back to this joint.

How this place has lasted so long is beyond me. But then again, I guess it takes a certain type of person to keep it in business. I have now been here a total of 3 times, twice for birthdays, and I notice the same things every time. Let’s start with the good: They have 3 areas, all of which play Spanish music at one point or another. In particular the main dance floor which I believe is Spanish all night. And that’s it for the good. Now for the bad: 1. This place is at Citywalk, which means you have 2 options for Parking. $ 10 self parking or $ 25 valet parking. Both options leave you at a pretty big walking distance from the club. 2. There is always a cover charge, even if your friend has a list at the door, or made arrangements with such and such promoter, etc. etc. you will pay. 3. Drinks are not cheap, which I get, it’s a club. But, they are also horribly made. And once you get your drink, good luck enjoying it. No alcohol on the dance floor. And the absolute worst thing I’ve always experienced here: beyond wasted drunk girls in dresses 4 sizes too small, grinding on guys to the point where their clothes are coming off and then proceeding to throw up at any given location inside the club. And then of course, no one to CLEANITUP! Gross. I’m sorry Rumba Room, props for having lasted so many years without a face lift, but I will not be back any more.

I’ve been here about 3 times over the past year. Why I torture myself to come here I have no idea. I feel that my experience here gets worse and worse with every visit. First of all I hate the fact that the cover is $ 20! I’ve complained to the bouncer about it and his response was«I highly recommend that you don’t go to Vegas» Well of course. I’m not in Vegas, I’m going to a lame wannabe salsa club next to an amusement park,(home of The Simpsons and Woody Woodpecker.) Second I brought my cousin from Mexico here with a few friends and they were giving him a hard time for his identification because it wasn’t a passport. He had his«Official Election Card» and his«Visa B1» boarder crossing card, both official documents from his home country. They were saying they wanted a Passport!!! A passport?! Luckily, my friend lives next to me and he didn’t leave his house yet so he went over my house to pick it up and met up with us about an hour later. In the mean time we went to Howl at the Moon who ACCEPTED his identification! It made me laugh because a «non-Latino» establishment accepted his identification unlike this«Latino Salsa Club» Does that mean that Howl at the Moon is much more foreigner friendly? Or authentically much more«Latino» compared to Rumba Room? Sorry I digress… I tend to ramble. Alright! Now my friend met up with us and we are off to Rumba Room! The bouncer was let us in, and some lady collected our money. We got in, my cousin felt bad about not bringing his passport so he bought us drinks!(he owed me one anyways)… After this happen(get ready, another tangent) OK so these people pride themselves of being a salsa club, and play music like Rock en Espanol. My cousin goes to the bar and orders(in his best English) two coronas and a couple other drinks. The bartender couldn’t understand him. My cousin started asking him in Spanish. The Bartender gives him a weird look and turns around and starts serving these other girls. Don’t get me wrong I won’t blame him, those girls were cute, but I had to come in and tell the bartender. Again, you are promoting yourself as a Latino club and you can’t put in a drink order in Spanish?! Or if they do you ignore them? Again, I digress… The cliental was LAME and the workers in there seem to be on an ego trip. I doubt I will EVER go there again even if my friends try to force me. I’ll refuse and go somewhere else. So if your at Universal City Walk I highly recommend anywhere else but here.

Postives: — really nice clean place. — on sunday nights before they blast the salsa music they offer free lessons(something i should’ve taken advantage of) — no cover on sunday nights!!! — no line to get in(at least when i got there) — the computers went down so my table got most of our drinks for free =) negatives: — they made me throw away my gum. they explained that it’s policy and that they wanted to keep their carpets perfect. i understand making me spit my gum out of my mouth but not throw away the pack in my pocket. not cool rumba room, not cool.

I’ve had better experience in SF. There is nothing really wrong with this place. I think you either feel a club or you don’t and I didn’t with this one. Drinks are okay. Music, crowd, and vibe was also okay. But when you want to have fun, okay isn’t really okay.

I came to the Rumba Room this past saturday night and it was A-OK. One of my coworkers threw her birthday here and lucky for us, she got a VIP section. You know what that means? We can sit instead of stand all night in our heels! Yaay :) She paid for a few of us so I got in free(thank you!). Normal entry is $ 10 after 10pm or something I believe. This place has two levels so you can basically say it caters to more than just the lovers of Latin music. Don’t get me wrong, I got down on that merengue Saturday night but who am I kidding? I couldn’t move like ol girl in that flower dress in front of our table :/ Upstairs was hip hop/top 40. When we first got there, we went upstairs to see what the crowd was looking at and around 10:30pm, there wasn’t one. Waaaack, lets migrate back downstairs. But around 11:30pm(like I thought), it was crowded upstairs and we were feeling the scene. Until we realized they were playing songs from like 2002! Wow really? I don’t want to hear R. Kelly’s «Fiesta» or Missy’s «Get Yo Freak On». I was thinking some Drake and a bit of Kanye’s «Monster». We stayed upstairs for a good ten minutes so they COULD have played the newer music later. You know how them DJs are… There’s no where to sit unless you’re VIP and it’s basically all dancefloor. It was pretty damn dark and that was not ok because well, contacts weren’t acting right that night so I was blind. I couldn’t tell you who was eye candy and who was a «victim» of my blind tendencies. «Tell me if he’s cute cuz I don’t have my glasses on…» Overall, I’d come back here again… but free before 10pm. You know how I do! Pssh you gotta pay for parking anyway. That IS the cover charge in my opinion.

Came here a friends birthday. Have no complaints. The music was good and yes alot of it was from back in the day, but what do you expect when today’s music is horrible?! The music that was played was spanish rock, salsa, cumbias and 90’s hip hop for the most part. Me and my friends had a really good time and the drinks were not bad. The crowd was laid back and there to dance, and have a good time. People that complain about drink prices are kidding themselves. Of course you should expect to OVERPAY when you go out to ANY club! If you want to save money, drink at home.

So I go out a lot right? I’m 24 and usually party in San Francisco where the nightlife ranges from your average crowd to the high rollers in Ferraris. The most I’ve paid and been willing to pay was $ 20 cover at Ruby Skye which is the hottest, most crackin, spot in the city. Now Rumba Room is by far a place I don’t even think a $ 5 cover is fair to charge. If you’re gonna let in ppl with jeans that are half ass dressed, you have no right to charge a $ 20 cover only to come in and see the place is only half full and the music is from 2004 – 2007. Step your game up.

That’s my favorite place!!! The fact that I met my boyfriend there helps but this is a really great place by itself. We always go there on Sunday night because it’s free and the music is the best. They always have a salsa live band and later on the Dj will plays bachata, merengue, reggeaton… This is well frequented, people are respectful and the atmosphere is really enjoyable. The dance floor is really nice, even though it’s not that spacious, everyone try to respect the other dancers space. The sofas should be a little more comfy though and it needs extra space to sit. I never get any drinks so I really don’t know about the prices. I really recommend this place for salsa dancers and lovers.

I’ve been to this place once with a couple of friends and it was fun! parking is $ 10. cover charge before 11:00pm is $ 10 after that is $ 20. if you are drinking, make sure to take cash because there is a minimun fee for everytime you use your card of $ 20 Other then that, screwdrivers are $ 3 and jolly rancher shots are $ 1 all night long, the rest of the drinks are $ 10 and up. its 2 floors, 3 seperate dancing rooms. Music is good, they play spanish, hip-hop, salsa, a little bit of everything which is great. People were a bit mean but some are nice restrooms were small and a little ghetto. overall its a pretty good place to go check out, i would recomment it.

Went to Rumba Room on a Saturday for friend’s birthday turned out to be pretty fun. $ 20 a head is pricey but I guess if you gonna get your boogie on it’s worth it. Why this place is cool: 1. They frisk the crap out of you so you know if sh*t goes down at least you’re not gonna get stabbed/shot. 2. It’s nice and open– they got a hip hop room upstairs w/VIP booths and bars. Downstairs another big bar and latin music. BESTSPOT is the outside patio where they play more latin music more salsa-ish. 3. People actually ASKYOUTODANCE… here’s the kicker: TODANCE!!! Unlike the korean clubs where the dudes don’t got the balls/game to ask you and just stare at you from the side. What sucks about this spot: 1. $ 20 for girls too?! C’mon, WE’RE bringing the fellas to the club give us a break charge us ½ or free drink coupon! . 2. Ugly crowd. The girls here are monstrous looking… BIG hippos and the guys are short bald cholos. Where the Antonio Sabato Jr’s at!?! I actually had a great time because i LOVE to dance & I LOVE latin music! This old guy asked me to dance and I was about to say no but he looked really scary– he looked like one of them Homies character! «double O.G. or vato ese” — so I said ok and did one song with him. He was nice enough to «teach» me the salsa steps but once i started feeling him rise I had to get outta there LOL Check it out w/your friends!

Salsa Sundays — Since this place is quite far from Santa Monica, it’s not a place I would frequent on Sundays. But if you live around this place, it’s a great place to go have fun salsa dancing. Besides the $ 10 parking fee, the dancing here is completely free. YES, FREE. I can’t really think of another place that offers free lessons with free dancing every Sunday. They have a pretty decent size dance floor and the people are all pretty nice. They have a pretty strict gum policy, so make sure you’re not chewing gum or have a pack of gum on you. they made me throw my brand spankin’ new pack away. =( This place would be a good place if you’re out and about at citywalk for the day on Sunday, perhaps catch a movie, catch one of those Dodger dogs, and dance the night away with your significant other. Fun way to spend a Sunday? You bet.

I checked it out last Sunday night. You have to pay $ 10 for the regular parking and take a nice long walk to the club or pay $ 15 to be right next to the club. I normally don’t mind the walk but I wasn’t wearing walking shoes and it was cold! Cool thing is there is no cover charge on Sunday, you get a live salsa band, and even salsa lessons if you arrive early enough. Drinks… just average. This past Sunday there were a few people but not enough to make it seem happening. the place next door looked so much better! Overall, it was just OK. But then again, I don’t dance salsa. Universal City Walk is full of things to do. so it’s cool to just be able to drop by for free. If you don’t like it, there are PLENTY of other places to check out.

I used to love this place now it’s the backup plan. I always know what to expect when i go there. It will be crowded. Some of the girls look like hoochie mama’s and the guys a bit ghettoe but they’re pretty respectful. It can get annoying how they change the genre’s between the upstairs and downstairs. They also play a LOT of reggeton and not as much salsa, cumbias or merengue anymore(which to me is annoying i’m not a huge fan of reggeton). I have never gone here and not bumped into someone i knew(this can be good or bad). The bartenders are pretty nice and it normally doesn’t take that long to get a drink. To the ladies: I suggest you pitch in with your girls and pay the extra $ 10 to park preferred. You will be happy when you are walking back to your car in your super high heels and cute little outfits!

Hoodrats!!! I hate Salsa, and I hate Merenge. Why were we here? Oh yeah, because the guys I was with had a lower self worth and thought they could get some tail much easier – considering the club’s patronage is 99% hispanics causing panic. I don’t think I was driving at the time, so that’s why I couldn’t just NOT go. I also don’t think they had opened the new Saddle Ranch yet, otherwise I would have shook the spot. The few times I’ve been by, going over to Howls, the lines shoot out around the building and escalators. Granted, it is a nice looking club, but don’t expect a mixed crowd – I hate non-mixed crowds. Pass.

I’ve never seen so much bumpin and grindin and mackin in a club before… STARE at the dance floor too long… and u might get pregnant just watching. Prior to, I had never heard of the place… We went for a friend of a friend’s bday party. Cover is $ 20. If you are on the guest list, cover is $ 10 before 11:00pm. We were 5 minutes late and they charged us the full cover. Dumb. Friend of a friend reserved the VIP section, which is similar to a cabana room, overlooking the dance floor. The music was pretty consistent that night. All Latin music, which was cool. They even added Latin beats to some rap and R&B tunes… I partially agree with Michael B’s review… the girls are literally waiting for you to ask them to dance… dunno about HOTHOTHOT… maybe they were in heat? Or maybe the AC was broken the night that he went and THAT’s Y the girlies were so durn HOT.
