Besides Hometown biting the dust in Union City, Fresh Choice has followed suit. Well it looks like Sweet Tomatoes is the clear winner!

Drove by today. Building is empty and all signs have been removed. It’s sad to lose a specialty restaurant like this, even if it is a chain. This one was pretty good early on – we ate here often. I wish they had returned to that quality rather than closing down.

Ah fresh choice union landing… People may think fresh choice is the best choice nutritionally. But if u look at it, as u pile ur plate full of a custom salad of ur desire the calories keep climbing! By the end of the day you could be taking in double what you should have. But for those of you who really don’t give a flying squirrel heres my review! Although their pre-dressed salads are great in flavor I always seem to find them either over dressed or if I came at the wrong time then it would be reall soggy. Caesar salad without the freshness snap of the Romain or the lack of the crunchiness in the Chinese chicken just doesn’t float my boat! As you go down the line they’ve got different things you can make a nice salad with. This place is pretty straight forward whatever fix ins u want they got. Highlights– they have tiny bowls of phở with the choosing of either chicken based broth or veggie based broth. Pretty neat! The top highlight of this place is those dam brownies! Their browns crap on sweet tomatoes cardboard ones! Grab a brownie put it in a soup bowl walk ur butt to the soft serve and make a nice brownie ice cream sundae!!! Bomb!‘ Make sure when You try the pastas or the rice or the pizzas taste it first, it may need some salt and pepper. But other than that I come here for the brownies haha!

My friends and I were debating of what to have for lunch, since everything is so expensive and were on a tight budget — we decided to go to Union Landing and drive around checking out restaurants. We saw a note saying their salad is only $ 4.99 or was that $ 4? I wasn’t sure anymore haha! So, went in and got the plastic take out and got some salad. Man oh man, it was really good — I was too excited to eat that I didn’t even know what I put on my plastic take out because their food looks so yummy. I’d come here again and was happy to know that I ate healthy that day LOL! OHYAH, WATCHOUTFORTHECASHIER — not sure her name is but she’s feisty! LOL

Didn’t want to eat here, but ended up here anyway because my vegetarian friend wanted to. Nothing looked fresh, ironically. The salad bar was ok. Everything else(pasta, etc) looked like it had been sitting out, untouched, for the whole day! Ew. No wonder there was barely anyone here, when all the other restaurants around were busy! Afterwards we went to see a movie, and my vegetarian had to get up in the middle because she felt sick from something she ate! She was gone for almost an hour just walking around until she felt ok! Totally ruined the night.

I don’t know why everyone is hating on Fresh Choice. I’m an ardent Sweet Tomatoes fan, so it was definitely with some hesitation that I ventured to the dark side — but I was very pleasantly surprised with my meal here. FYI, dinner was $ 9.99 per person. Their salad bar was on par with what you can find at Sweet Tomatoes. I didn’t experience the wilted unfresh sogfest that others did. There was actually an impressive variety of prepared salads and items that I’d never seen at Sweet Tomatoes, like hummus and roasted yam, delicata squash, and even fried garlic chips(yum!). The only options that are worth docking stars for would be the soup and bread. There were only a few options of soup available, and the bread was unfortunately stale and bland.

For $ 8.95, you get salad & unlimited stuff they have to offer on their bars. The ice cream machine was out of order– that sucked. Soup was pretty good. Pizza was ok. Pretty good variety of salad items.

Woof. If lies make Baby Jesus cry, what happens when he goes to an awful salad bar? I’d never been here before & was hoping for a quick, healthy carryout lunch. I only tried the salad bar, but the rest of the buffet items looked equally as worn-out and gloopy. The lettuce was brown-edged and soggy. They only offered iceberg, romaine, and spinach. No mesclun or field greens. I’ve been to hospital cafeterias that had much better salad bars! Tired, flavorless veggies. The asian chicken salad was limp and brown. Dressing was way too salty. I know not everyone can be Whole Foods, but dang, there’s no reason why a salad bar has to be this unappealing. $ 10 for a drink and a salad, and I could only finish a few bites of it. Spend your money at Lucky’s on a bag of greens and some chopped veggies.

Skip this place and drive further to eat at Sweet Tomatoes. Here’s why: — Luke warm soup — Bland mac n cheese — The restaurant smelled like dirty mop water — They cleared our table with ½ full plates and my(paid) drink cup when we put that«we’ll be right back» sign — Old lettuce — Nasty textured salad dressing. It wasn’t smooth, but had an egg-y dripping thing going on. Disgusting! — Nasty soup choices too. — There were labels but not for everything so it was difficult to see what dressing was what and what soup was what + The cashier was friendly and welcoming

I really like Fresh Choice. What I don’t understand is that they are NEVER busy. There is always seating and it’s never like Sweet Tomatoes where there is a line out the door. The food is cleanly displayed and fully loaded. Their salad bar is extremely comparable to Sweet Tomatoes, but I guess Sweet Tomatoes’ bread/soup area is a little more appealing. I’m guessing maybe not a lot of people come to Fresh Choice because they don’t have coupons available unlike Sweet Tomatoes. But what you don’t know, is that you can search for Fresh Choice coupons on google or something and come up with a coupon directly from Fresh Choice’s website. It’s kind of weird since it’s hidden through their website but you do a google search and voila! Parking is difficult at times only because of the movie theater. That is the biggest con that I see.

The staff is always super friendly and the place is somewhat clean. I usually come here for a quick salad that I make myself. I never get their pre-made salads as it just looks gross and over dressed. As for their soups, breads and pasta’s, I don’t eat any of that when I come so, can’t say much about that. But, if you want a quick make it yourself salad, they have many ingredients you can add to make that perfect salad.

I have never been here before just because there are so many other places to eat at in the area. Decided to give it a go. I was so disappointed. This place barely had ANY selection. When I had arrived around 5;30 on a weekday, for the longest time they did not put out any fresh pizza, so I had to deal with the ones there. I got two of the soups, which were both good; they were hot. They should close this place down and replace it with a Sweet Tomatoes. I will not be returning YUCK.

Their salads are usually decent but on this particular day they were not good at all. Dressing had no flavor and lettuce did not seem to be in very good condition. Also did not seem to have as good a variety as they usually do. As far as the rest went the posole was absolutely delicious. i was shocked at the flavor and amount of spice it had. I had at least 3 bowls. Also tried the chicken soup but it was completely bland. The little bit of pasta I had was also very tasty. This review is actually more of a 2.5 but due to it’s proximity to the movie theater I’ll roundup.

This place sucks, it gave me the runs, the lettuce was wilted and the soup tasted like it came from a can. That’s all you need to know. That and drive 5 miles southeast until you hit Sweet Tomatoes and eat there instead if you really must have a salad buffet, hell you’d be better off in Sizzler really. That’s all you need to know.

They DEFINITELY have a wider selection than Sweet Tomatoes, & for the same price. Everything was fantastic, the salad, the customer service, the atmosphere was clean and SMELLED fine. Sweet Tomatoes usually has that«bunch of dishes in the sink» smell in their dining room, which makes me GAG. And get this… they serve PHO. My mom & I were cracking up! They have these little asian bowl of noodles & green onion, and you just pour the broth in it. Pizza was yummy, except the crust was hard as a rock. The herb rice tasted like CRAP, seriously, like CRAP. Spaghetti was mediocre. Tasted like some Indian tried to make it. Not MADE it, but TRIED to make it. Pasta was yummy. I’d dine again.

I love fresh choice when I used to live in the bay in Union City. What kinda sucks are some of the hefty prices if you wanted to add meat, but at the end of the«salad area» there’s the carbs area I guess as you call it like spaghetti and pizza and so forth and desserts. Now that I’m back in Stockton, the closest is 28 miles away from me in Modesto. But I had good times here. It tastes fine to me, not sure why some people say it ain’t so. And you just gotta love that Sobe Lean drink.

This is the fourth time that I have tried this place. I have to say it is «not good». The salad is about the only good thing there next to the ice cream machine and a few items in the desert place. I just thought everything kinda tasted worse than hospital food there. Maybe there are some better fresh choices out there. On a good note, the staff is very nice at this particular location. The cashier is very friendly, and the waitress is also very nice as well. Parking can be tough especially if you go during movie hours because it is literally right next to the movie theater so if you are meeting someone for dinner get there a little bit earlier.

Fresh Choice is really tasty to me– and I enjoy coming back here. The staff is friendly and there is a solid selection of «Healthy» foods. By «Healthy» I mean the salad bar, of course– but the rest of the place is like any other standard buffet. Greasy pizza, self serve ice cream, soda and beer. Unfortunately for a healthy food spot they really have a limited number of fruits. Aside from the strawberry salad they serve, I’ve only seen cantaloupe and watermelon here– that’s it. I really enjoy the Chinese Chicken Salad and making my own strawberry shortcake here. If you’re eating AFTER a movie, show them your ticket stub and save a few bucks!(they offer a discount!) Fresh Choice is a solid spot to eat if visiting the Union Landing.

I would pick this place over Sweet Tomatoes because of the variety of foods they have and more toppings for the food too. Even if the price is a bit more than Sweet tomatoes this place has more variety, if you like that. The atmosphere is better too since its calmer and it isn’t as cramped as other places. It is in a good location since you can come here after watching a movie or before watching a movie. It fills you up and you can eat all you want. They have salads, breads, muffins, soups, ice cream, fruits, and many other things too! I would definitely come back here for more!
