Found this fabulous little Mexican restaurant that opened recently in Union City, their specialty are real Mexican Tacos, they are running a special on Tacos de Guisados,(Tacos of Roasted Meats) All you can eat for $ 7.99 On the day I first went I had Cochinita de Pibil which is shredded pork tenderloin in a marinated Achiote sauce, served in a warm tortilla with freshly made refried black beans, Mexican rice, and potatoes, Two words Utterly Delicious, I then tried a Taco al Pastor which is marinated Pork which is cooked on a horizontal electrical spit which slowly roasts the meat, tender and spicy, a mouth watering delight indeed. I washed this taco with some home made Horchata which is rice infused water with cinnamon and sugar, very interesting and refreshing beverage. On another occasioned I had a Gringa, which is two large freshly made corn tortillas filled with the meat from the Pastor(Marinated Pork) with Queso de Oaxaca, a native cheese from Oaxaca Mexico, with a very rich flavor, This time I had a Mexican Coca– Cola made with real sugar, reminded of when I was a kid and Coke tasted so good before they started using high fructose corn sweeteners. Charco de la rana is a small but warm and inviting eatery, the service was very friendly and cordial. You can be sure I’ll be gong back often to try out some of their other offerings, such as Huaraches, Sopes, Quesadillas, Freshly made Guacamole, Pozole. This is the real deal real Mexican food made by mexicans. Give them a try you won’t be disappointed but bring a Big appetite.
