Finally found a good breakfast spot! Service great. Food was great. Highly recommend. Would only add some music for atmosphere and real butter.

Standard diner fare, great prices and nice staff. We are looking to move to the area & will definitely have this in our rotation. My hubby is happy about breakfast served all day, although he was disappointed in the French Toast as it was made with regular«skinny» sandwich bread and not Texas toast.

I like their breakfast. But I stopped in for a Chuck steak and gravy. Frozen steak tuff as a flip-flop and about as bland. Instant potatoes and instant gravy. Unfortunately I got it to go and wasn’t worth taking it back. Three bites and tossed it to the dogs. They were not impressed. Will not be returning.

This is Tennessee hospitality at it’s purest! It’s the gem of the county. The menu is huge! And the foods great.

Food was delicious. Worked wonderfully for our large group. Was very accommodating. Cannot help but rave about the fried chicken breasts. Excellent.

Stopped in Sunday morning for breakfast. First timers and very impressed! A bit busy but found a table with no problem and our waitress immediately came to see what our beverage would be. Took our order right after. The prices are perfect and the amount of food you get just right! Will definitely return and try lunch or dinner!

Their food is homemade. I love zucchini fries! It don’t taste from frozen. Everything is delicious. It is southern food.

One of my favorite«back home» places. I live in Nashville now so I try to swing by when I am in town. I’d eat lunch here every day if I could… I love, love, love the broccoli and cheese bites! I usually get a burger or sandwich and then the broccoli and cheese bites AND the Mac and cheese bites(I share, lol). I keep meaning to get something sweet but I’m always stuffed. Also for ranch to dip your stuff in, it’s house made.

OHBOY! Clarence’s is one of my favorite restaurants in the whole world! The biscuits and gravy are the best in the world, seriously! The waitresses are sent straight from paradise, southern style! I have moved to the northeast, so I especially love coming thru here and gettin some real southern style gangsta food! Hamburgers are great but you gotta get the biscuits and gravy! If you are on 26 west of asheville, you MUST stop here!

Best place to go in Unicoi especially when u want breakfast! I’ve also had the dinner there and everything is good and southern style. It’s got a diner feel to it and the staff has always been very friendly and good about refills. I give it 4 stars bc it’s not gourmet, but it’s 5 star for the type of good you’re going there for.

If you want local cooking, color and culture… this is as good as it gets. Breakfast was incredible. Not your trendy local ingredient type but just good Southern cooking with a local girl speaking the local vernacular. Stick to your ribs cooking with the local gossip at the table next to you.

Great place to stop. I like the idea of breakfast all day long, however their home fries are not home fries, they are plain slices of potatoes browned in a skillet. Excellent selection of omelets, and they know how to cook eggs. The pulled pork can compete with any BBQ place in the area. Service is very friendly, atmosphere is down home. Good place to stop on the way to or from Mitchell County in North Carolina.

Yawn. Boring food and an ugly atmosphere. Another place in east Tennessee that relies on a reputation it doesn’t deserve based on the culinary ignorance of its customers.

Their biscuits and gravy are the stuff of legends. Though the color is browner than the numerous ones I have previously consumed. That said, don’ t be thrown off by the color: it is great! Add a bit of hot sauce as they suggest and you will be amazed. Their eggs are solid and their sausage egg sandwich is adequate(I have had better in NY). If you stick to the Southern food then you will leave happy.

It was a burger kind of night, our group had a cheeseburger, veggie burger and turkey burger. All were great. Sweet potato fries did not disappoint! Super friendly and energetic red headed server made the visit even more fun.

Whenever I go to Erwin to see my Mamma, I always have to stop here at least once for some good olé southern food. Breakfast biscuits with meat or gravy are excellent. Hamburger steak or roast beef with mashed potatoes and gravy are both excellent lunch choices. The fried green tomatoes are good.

When we lived in Unicoi many years ago we ate at Clarence’s 3 – 4 times a week! Now, anytime I am back in town, I head straight back to the place for good comfort food. We headed there last night for a break from moving the in-laws and nothing has changed. The service is laid back and«small town» so if you are looking for a 5-star restaurant experience you are visiting the WRONGPLACE. The food is delicious and as southern as you can possibly imagine. Our favorite is always the hamburger steak with mashed potatoes and gravy… OMG so good!
