Katelyn is the best! I have now had two separate appointments with her — the first for a last minute cut and Katelyn accommodated me same-​day and took me at 5pm so I could finish my workday and still get a fabulous haircut. She listened to what I wanted and gave me an excellent cut. Just today I decided I need a color update and called Toppers to see if they had any stylists that did Bayalage color. Yes, they did! And Katelyn could see me that very afternoon. After greeting Katelyn and showing her some pictures, I spent 2 relaxing, pampered hours in the chair as she did a thorough, meticulous job on my hair. She is a master with hair and it is apparent that she really cares about her clients. She gives a WONDERFUL hair wash and styles quickly and efficiently. My color turned out even better than I had imagined! She was sweet, and talented and an excellent find in Ukiah. Thank you, Katelyn! You will be my hair guru for years to come. I highly, highly recommend her.

Toppers is a very experienced Hair Salon by all stylists that work here and we’ll known, I’ve been working here for 4 years and I have had 1 bad review, I believe it was a false review. My experience of 27 years has no negative reflections on my work. No one is perfect, we all have our bad days however my work is always a finished product.
If anyone would like to call or walk in please feel welcomed I guarantee you will be satisfied and happy.

This is the first time I’ve been to Toppers. I got an appointment with Loretta, and although I feel a bit bad leaving a negative review, my hair really looks awful. It doesn’t look anything like the picture I brought in with me, but worse than that, it is completely crooked and choppy. The right side is significantly shorter than the left, and there is actually a section where there is a chunk of hair missing at the bottom, and then it gets longer again without any blending or layering. I can’t imagine what happened there but it is impossible to style without that part showing. So, I guess it’s a ponytail for me until I find the time to go somewhere else to get it fixed.

I too went to Vicky for a short hair cut! She worked wonders with her scissors and made me look so much better than when I arrived. She knows how to cut hair, is pleasant and professional and I am very happy to have found her! Thanks, Vicky! See you in about 6 weeks.
Update: I stopped in as a walk-​in last weekend and Melissa (co-​owner) was available. She is very professional and attentive to water temperature and customer service. I emerged very happy with another great hair cut. Thanks!

Vicky is really awesome! I went here today for the first time and Vicky was very kind and she really listened to how I like my hair cut she asked questions so she could have it cut just how I wanted & she even told me if I had any problems or didn’t like it the next day I could come back and she would fix it (there is no reason for that though my hair looks great!!!) She was so awesome not just with my hair but the entire time she was just very nice to talk with. YAYNESS I have finally found my hair person to go to, I will not go to anyone else ;) ty toppers!!!

This was a great salon, but since my stylist Vicky moved on to jagged edge salon I went on over there! All the ladies seemed friendly though!

At this point Loretta has cut and styled my hair at least five times. Every time she’s cut my hair I’ve left with a flattering, low maintenance style. I am so glad I found her! I’m kind of addicted to having her do my hair, every time it’s looking flat I come in for a cut and feel like a million dollars again.

Melissa rocks! I look forward to every visit.
Aveda products are wonderful and I am so glad that this salon is in Ukiah.

This is a high end salon at half the price! Very nice clean atmosphere is a large beautiful soothing space. I come from the bay area and have high exspectations, this salon delivers! Courtney is the best and everyone else is so happy and helpful ;)

Visited Toppers for the first time today — they do walk-​ins, but there was a 30min wait. Got on the list and came back later.
Emily did my hair, and she really did a nice job. My hair looks just like the picture I took in, and the botched cut I went in with is history. I’m really pleased with it.
A plus for me was the lack of useless chit-​chat. I’m there for a service, not to meet my new best friend.
Not sure about the Aveda product line yet. I’ll give it another try, but I’m not overly impressed so far.
I’ll be back, and next time I’ll make an appointment.

I got my hair cut and colored a few weeks ago here and am actually way happier with both the cut and color now that it’s had a few weeks to «settle.» I wanted some sort of change and I admittedly did a bad job of articulating that and as a result ended up looking a little like an edgy zebra. My cut was cute but it reminded me of my best friend’s hair when we were in high school (I graduated in 1999). And again, I did a really bad job of articulating what I wanted so given all that, maybe this review should be for four stars. Being from Los Angeles, I’m used to walking in and telling my sweet LA hairstylist «make me edgy and don’t take off too much from the ends» and then walking out looking like a million bucks. I ended up paying the same price I’ve paid in LA but it was not quite the cut and color I was somehow hoping for. My hairstylist here was VERY nice and kept making sure I liked it and I liked that it was different than my last cut but it wasn’t love at first sight. That being said, now that the color has settled down a little and the cut has adjusted itself to my head, I actually like my look quite a bit (still not love, but definitely like). I loved the ambience of the shop and the windows were great for people watching. My stylist made sure my car didn’t get marked by the parking enforcement and the shop was very clean. So, anyway, if I go back, I’m planning on bringing a few pictures to better articulate what I want. But I admittedly am wondering if I can fit in a «hair» stop on my next trip to LA.

This is an Aveda salon. Great products from real ingredients that are good for the stylist, the client, and the earth. This also means that there is no underlying smell of chemicals in the salon. Yay!
I got a same-​day appointment and went in for some corrective color. Laura did a fantastic job of restoring me to my natural hair color, working from photos and my roots. My natural color is a dark ash brown but with gold and red highlights, and she captured it perfectly. Wow! She was really fun and friendly, the products smell wonderful and didn’t burn at all. $ 80. I guess that’s about what I was expecting for corrective color, and I am SO relieved to be looking like myself again! Also, I am so relieved to find a stylist who actually knows how to deal with curly hair and doesn’t try to pretend like it’s straight. Thank you!
While I was in, a kid was getting his hair cut — I guess he’s super sensitive, and the mom was sure that he got shampooed with something that didn’t contain any sesame, nut-​based things, etc. These people know their products and their ingredients.
I would recommend Toppers to anyone. They’re fun, friendly, extremely competent, and very service oriented. And right downtown!
