A group of us eat there once a month, and I look forward to it. The regular(or real) coffee is excellent, and the cream is real as well. Eggs are fresh, and served properly. I go for sunny side, and I have not been disappointed the last twenty or so times I’ve gone. My favorite item is the corned beef hash, which is made fresh, so it isn’t always the same junk dumped out of a can. That also means you may like it one week, but not so much another. No biggie, IMHO. Pancakes are variable, but better than the flapjack houses. Waffles can be quite tasty. If you are looking to match what you can make at home, after reading a dissertation by Alton Brown, this ain’t the place. However, if you want decent food, great coffee and no surprises, this is a great watering hole. Heck, I’m headed there for breakfast with the wife now!

I love the egg and I. They definitely have the best Crab Cake Benedict in Tyler and even when there’s a wait because they are very busy the service is fast, once you sit your server is right with you and the food is prepared quickly. Last time we were in for brunch, our server didn’t bring 2 of our party of 3 silverware… It was weird to share one set among 3 people after asking for silverware twice but we made due. And it was a one time thing, definitely not their normal service.

It pains me to give 4 stars instead of 5. I would give 5 stars but they don’t have mimosas, bellinis, no breakfast drinks at all :(. However, the food is so good! The Huevos Rancheros here is the best breakfast dish I’ve ever had in my whole life.

Very tasty brunch we had here today! My husband got corn hash and loved it– I got an omelette and added the salsa with it. The service was super fast!!! Except for the checkout line so our waiter ended up just taking our credit card. Having to check out at the front doesn’t seem super convenient. But overall we had a great experience. Because my iced coffee was way too sweet our waiter gave me a new one and didn’t charge us for it. We would definitely go back if we were in town and wish that we had one of these restaurants where we lived!

Is our first time this location. And I have only been 2 others, Vegas and ??? Having a Mex breakfast and coffee. Pleasant service and nice location south of old downtown area about 1 mile. Friend had corned beef hash and don’t like. Mine was ok.

I concur with the Unilocal majority-4−5 stars. Food came out hot & fast. Kevin provided good service and even the manager came out to be sure I was being served. Clean, well managed and great breakfast selections — just what I wanted. I also liked the dark roast coffee served in a thermal decanter.

My husband and I are in town visiting my husband’s grandfather, we all really enjoyed this place. We went on a Monday morning so there was no wait, our server was very nice and quick, and most importantly everything was fresh, hot and very good. I had the chicken apple sausage scramble which came with fresh fruit & a toasted English muffin; it was good, a nice healthy option. My husband had the chicken green chili hash which was delicious and also a pretty healthy option. His grandfather gets pancakes almost everywhere we go and he really liked the blueberry pancakes with eggs & sausage, the pancakes were whole wheat pancakes so the trend of healthy options stood consistent. Overall it was a great experience & the food was very good and very fresh.

We went to The Egg & I on a Sunday around noon. The wait was a reasonable 20 minutes & I’m pretty sure we sat down before the 20 minutes was up. The coffee was a little weak, though the presentation was good. I had the Athena, which had asparagus in it. It tasted fresh. I also had a side of grits and some corned beef hash. It was all good. Nothing really stood out as «WOW,» but the freshness and the combination of items was satisfying. My partner had a Spanish-style egg dish, which he enjoyed, though he did have to add some spice. All in all, it was a pleasant brunch. The people were friendly and informative, the food was fresh and prepared well. I’d certainly eat there again.

Good tasting food. Service was prompt. Waitress forgot to deliver two parts of my order, but they were really busy and she seemed a bit frazzled. Nice place.

Food was great! Had the corn beef hash and eggs with English muffins… Environment was pleasant and clean. Our server Geneva was absolutely hilarious! We were greeted by the manager Amy. She gave us a coupon because we told her we were moving to Tyler. Very nice Definitely coming back.

Wonderful experience here, I love the egg and I so when I seen it was here, we had to eat here during our stay. I had the usual waffle as theirs is one of the best, I tried a egg scramble for the first time(I added peppers, onions, and cheese) and it was the bomb especially with their signature hotsauce. Our server was Geneva and she was funny and sweet. She secretly told her assistant manager. Amy, we were moving to Tyler and she came over and introduced herself and welcomed us to Tyler and gave us a coupon for our next visit. My husband and I love Tyler already and feeling like we are at home. Ask for Geneva!

First impressions are important. I arrived at 7AM for breakfast. I waited for over four minutes with no one in sight to seat me. Finally, a customer saw my plight and got up and went back into the kitchen and got somebody to come out to seat me. I had the Eggs Benedict with a side of grits. The food came out quickly but that was because the eggs weren’t quite done. Even the whites were a little runny. The Hollandaise sauce was bland. The grits were a little runny for my taste. The coffee was okay. Probably my first and last visit.

Very enjoyable breakfast! Plenty of healthy options for those that are watching their waist. I have the chicken Apple sausage scramble with fresh fruit and it was delicious! My husband had the Viva la France French toast and completely cleaned his plate. We will definitely go there again!

We were initially sat by the kitchen entrance, which I am NOT a fan of :) but decided to eat outside, which was nice. Staff is very friendly and willing to help, My glass was never half full(pun intended) food was delivered promptly and with a smile. Hikers Benedict was my choice, poached eggs with ham, green peppers, tomatoes, mushrooms, and bacon on an English muffin, was delicious and I agree with the other reviews, the garlic fried potatoes were scrumptious :) My wife had strawberry banana waffles and enjoyed them immensely. Said they were sweet but not overpoweringly so. I will continue to do business here and highly recommend them to anyone.

Had a great birthday breakfast here. Yum. hazelnut coffee was listed as a specialty coffee it was«okay».(Coffee snob) Had the ranchero breakfast which came with beans tortilla eggs little pico and guac plus their potatoes. It was so comforting and delicious. Glad we found this gem on Unilocal to help us find a good meal.
