Had a turkey sandwich from the deli and it’s actual turkey! Very good and worth every bit of the 5.99…my husband and I actually shared it it was so big.

Almost five stars. Brisket is great. Chicken is great. Sausage is great. Mac and cheese good. Broccoli rice spectacular. It’s like a sticky rice blended perfectly with Broccoli. After getting a sample of that, I bought a large side. Instantly addicted. I didn’t want to regret no buying it when I got down the road. A great place to stop at. The only problem is truck parking. I wish the lot was bigger.

My daughter had been in UT Hospital a few miles away, she was feeling better and wanted some potato salad. It was ok. Nothing really to brag about. Also got baked beans and chicken spaghetti. Just ok. Friendly and fast service.

diving through and needed some Texas bbq before hitting Louisiana. Not the worst but certainly not the best Texas bbq I’ve had. It satisfied the craving. Friendly staff and plenty of room for the rv. Easy in… Easy out. #gypsynurse #travelnurse #gypsyroadtrip

I haven’t had much luck wit Texas BBQ in the past. It’s been a long time since I’ve had any, so I figured I would give the state of Texas a chance to redeem itself. I came in the back of the store, and was glad I did. The smoke coming from the pits set the tone here, got to love the smell of a good hardwood smoke. I ordered the brisket dinner, it was tender and had a good flavor to it. There wasn’t much bark on it, but I did get a small piece, that was good. I tried both their regular, and spicy sauce. Both were good, and the spicy has bite. My complaints are I ordered sliced, and it looked like it was chopped, but that’s not a big thing. The other was the serving size, I would have liked a little more brisket.

I have no idea why this is getting 4 ½ stars. The people who work here are very friendly, but the food was not not good… the brisket was dry, the broccoli rice casserole was bland, the collar greens needed more seasoning. The chicken was dry, the sausage was just okay… Everything was just very fast food barbecue. Don’t make a stop, it’s not worth the effort. I know there has to be better barbecue along the road in Texas. Try some place else.

This is some of the best BBQ I have ever had. My nephew, who only eats chicken strips, ate a whole ham sandwich and some ribs. That is saying a whole lot! I had the double barrel, which is loaded potato with your choice of meat. It was delicious and way more than I could eat. They also sell fudge and candies and an assortment of jerky. The service was friendly too. We will definitely be stopping in here again.

Visiting from FL and stopped in for some souvenirs… didn’t expect to have the best Loaded Baked Potato I have ever had in my entire life from a truck stop. I guess everything really is bigger in Texas! Ladies & gentleman, this is what a baked potato should look like. Yes, there is a potato in there. Somewhere. This beautiful masterpiece is The«DOUBLEDECKER» A must try!

Texas’ best kept secret. Their pre-made egg salad sandwich was great. Reminded me of home. The fudge was next level too. And customer service was top-notch.

Shell station Extraordinaire! This location hosts a cornucopia of fried pies, snacks, slabs of beef jerky and country/Texas items of varying sizes, shapes and prices. Best of all, the staff are very friendly and seem to like their work. I’m marking this place as a required stopping point on any trip passing thru this stretch of East Texas! I took an extra 15 minutes break from a motorcycle trip to sit on the chunky wood furniture on the front porch area to enjoy a cold drink and pecan pie!

This was an interesting place to stop along the desolate Texas highway. It helped our group as there was a wide variety of food choices for all of our weiried tavelers. I opted for a safe burgers. The orhers tried some smoked meats and amazing deli sandwiches. The only negstive i have is in relation to their jerky meats. The spicy beef was really good but the exotic meats were not near worth the price. BE Aware! You need o ask prices on the jerky. I was shocked after picking a couple when it was over $ 40 for tiny bags that are usually $ 5-$ 7 in Oklahoma. Worth the stop, just not a fan of the jerky.

I love BBQ and always try new places. This was on the way to a job I had to do in Mississippi so I loaded up to keep from stopping again along the way. Appearance 10 Tenderness 9 Moist 8 Smoke ring 10 Taste 6.5 Ribs, meat fell off the bone but not easily; it was just right :) Appearance 6 Tenderness 9 Moist 9 Smoke penetration 10 Taste 10 BBQ sauce, both the Sweet-n-Mild & Sweet-n-Spicy; Appearance 10 Taste 9 Potato salad, perfect balance of mayo to mustard and spices Appearance 10 Freshness 10 Taste 10 Collard greens Appearance 8 Freshness 9 Taste 8 The tea was good and people very friendly. I will definitely stop here again!

I used to pass this combination truck-stop, BBQ restaurant and Sonic Drive in for almost 15 years before I gave it a try. I travel from my home in Richardson, Texas to see my family in Monroe, Louisiana all the time and this is now a new tradition. I was an immediate and incurable addict to the BBQ they serve… This is a large establishment with abundant car and truck parking. It’s spotlessly clean on the inside including the bathrooms, and the service is East Texas friendly. If you do not know what East Texas friendly means, magnify Southern hospitality times 100. And the food! I’ve always admired the countless side-dishes. The mouth-watering cobblers. The tangy potato salads. The sinful desserts. But never tried them because the sliced smoke sandwich was so freaking big I would not have room! This is not you powder-puff derby BBQ. The is the real deal. The handsome cat who cuts up the meat recognized me because I always just get a sandwich with no sides. I then told him I occasionally write food reviews. He then wheeled around, opened the oven and pulled out what had to be a 15 pound whole smoked brisket. I then requested meat from the«top deck» or the crispy fatty section. You can smell the smoke outside so you know how delicious the meat must be. ANDNOSKIMPYPORTIONS! At least two to three inches of solid beef on a large bun just kissed with sauce. I took my time and enjoyed every bite and also enjoyed the people watching. This is soooooo not Manhattan! $ 4.99? Get outa here! Maybe it was $ 5.99. Call my investment banker! But that’s around what it cost! BARGAIN! I noticed the rib and other plate lunches did not scrimp on anything. The ribs alone look like something off the Flintstones. Topping it all of is a HUGE country store selling everything from specialty candy to polished rocks. Please be sure and check out the photos!

Saw the reviews on Unilocal and just had to stop by as the town of Tyler, an excellent midway point between Dallas and Shreveport. We arrived shortly after 11am. We looked at the menu and for one order, we got the pulled pork entrée with corn bread, collard greens and red potatoes. Excellent flavor and a decent portion. For our second entrée, we selected a daily special. It’s not posted on the main overhead menu, but a smaller sign on the glass case. The great thing about the daily specials is that they include drinks. On this day, we got the smoke turkey leg — it was huge with meat falling off the bone. While we were enjoying our lunch(around 11:15 — 11:30), the line to order was now 5 – 8 people long. So we made it just in time. When traveling along I-20 at Exit 571 — definitely make a stop by the Smokehouse.

Clean bathrooms and really nice staff. There’s also a Sonic here for people that aren’t craving bbq. The jerky’s homemade, but a bit pricey. They also have cute souvenirs!
