Yet one more closed restaurant. It’s still a taco stand, but it’s not the Rusty Taco, it’s called something else. I would have stopped in and tried it, but it was closed when I went by. So disappointing.

Best Baja tacos I’ve had outside of the west coast! Seriously, get the shrimp tacos. They nail the sauce(which is where most fall short). Combined with the cabbage, cilantro, and corn tortillas, this was a tasty delight. The pork taco was good as well, nice juicy meat and great seasoning. Everyone was friendly. There’s a bit of a wait for your food after ordering, but everything is hand-made. Outdoor seating on a warm, pleasant May day in East Texas was just what I needed. If I lived anywhere close to here, I would be a regular.

Got a bunch of assorted tacos to go for about ten employees. The tortillas are tiny and they were all almost devoid of anything. Very little meat, maybe one little slice of onion per taco. The tacos were a joke. The manager a very unintelligent young lady. Ended up talking to a regional boss and she offered us a bunch of free food and margaritas, but I just say no to rusty’s. Just go to Taco Bueno or Los Gueros in stead.

Hands down best tacos I’ve ever hand. All their sauces are homemade and to die for. My favorite taco is the brisket taco. Also, not all Rusty’s are the same. I live on the opposite side of Tyler and make the 20 minute drive simply to avoid the Rusty’s on 5th and Beckham.

It was good. We had the shrimp taco, Rajas, chicken fajita, fish taco & brisket. The ones we liked the best were the shrimp & fish. The brisket is in a sauce and the tortilla fell apart, not a big deal. The guac & salsa were very good. The $ 2 margaritas were surprisingly good! The service was what brought it down from 4 stars and the fact that you pay extra for everything(I hate paying for chips & salsa, it just bugs me). Not that the men here were rude but our orders weren’t quite correct and they were not busy or friendly. The dessert tacos are nasty, save your money.

During my short stay in the Tyler, TX area I actually visited the Rusty Taco twice. The first time was for lunch. Upon entering we were pleasantly greeted by both employees behind the counter. After they learned that this was our first time visiting, they got very excited and started a debate as to whether or not the queso or the guacamole was the best dipping sauce for tortilla chips. Based on this we decided it was best to get all sauces(queso, guac, and salsa) and we were pleased with that decision. In addition to the chips I ate 2 tacos and my coworker had 3. We left satisfied. The next morning after a lengthy 16 hour all nighter at work, and after having been denied an adult beverage at the bar at the Courtyard(which was open, just wouldn’t serve us) we ventured back to the Rusty Taco. We were pleased to see that they were serving several beers and this also gave us a chance to sample the breakfast tacos. Definitely hit the spot after the long night at work. If I ever find myself in the area again, the Rusty Taco will be on my list of restaurants to visit.

I came in here for breakfast this morning, and was sold on the chorizo breakfast tacos. Rusty Taco is a no frills place, with strictly tacos. For us sinners, they do offer beer and margaritas as well. I kept it simple since it was 9A, and refrained from ordering a drink, but did do a slew of tacos. Rusty Taco, in my view, has some of the best chorizo tacos I’ve consumed. In fact, I haven’t had good chorizo since my days in Chicago, frequenting el barrios, in search of authentic Mexican grub. I’ll check back soon for dinner tacos, and margaritas, to make sure this place is the real deal.

Rusty Taco is pretty good most of the times I have had it. They have good salsa which is a huge plus and pretty much a requirement for a Taco place in my opinion. I’m a big fan of their habanero salsa. The breakfast tacos are good. I’ve had better but I’ve had a lot worse too. Their lunch/dinner tacos are generally really good. They use good quality ingredients and everything always tastes fresh. It’s a regular lunchtime spot for me.

Only been once so far and I wasn’t impressed. Since I hadn’t been here before, I ordered 4 different tacos just to see what was what. The tacos were tiny! For $ 2 a taco, I would have thought they would have had something in them but there was barely any meat and the corn tortillas were pitifully small. The flavor of the tacos themselves were not bad, but not all that great either. I did end up ordering some chips and queso as well(to nibble on during the football game). The bag of chips was pretty large and the queso was good. I will probably go back again in the near future and try them again and see if I have a different experience on my next go-around.

It’s so great to have options as a vegetarian! Rusty is delicious and their atmosphere very enjoyable! Their tacos are delicious and the topics always taste fresh! The salsa and chips are cheap and delicious, the guacamole is fresh and just perfect! They have habanero sauce — and Mexican bottled soda — what else can I ask for? :)
