Of all the festivals and fairs we go to, we liked this one the best. We ordered our tickets online and printed them out from home, which helped a lot. We paid for the preferred parking($ 10) but that allowed us quick entry to the faire. For the cost($ 22) per person, we really got our money’s worth. Now, that $ 22 is just the tip of the iceberg. Kids under 5 are allowed free, which is genius, cause those little buggers turn into huge money sinks once inside. This place is expensive. Expect to spend lots of money on food and trinkents. Here is a list of stuff we paid for; Steak on a Stake — $ 7.00(we bought 2) Sausage on a skewer — $ 7.00 Blooming Onion $ 10 Turkey Drumstick $ 9.50 italian ices $ 4.00(x 2) Trinkets; Wooden Sword — $ 10 Pirate Sword — $ 14 Holster — $ 7 Shields -$ 12(x 2) Hair garland — $ 22 Games $ 2 for the duck fishing game(x 6) Crossbow pingpong 10 tries for $ 5 The shows are great, especially the jousting, and the belly dancing. There’s plenty to see and do and you won’t be bored, and neither will the kids. Some tips — –Pay the $ 10 for the preferred parking, especially if you have a stroller. –If you have younger kids, bring a stroller, it’s stroller friendly here. –Buy the schedule and map it’s only $ 1, and you can plan attending shows better –You don’t have to dress up, but many do, and it looks like fun! –Bring cash, though most vendors accept credit cards, some still do not. –Prepay for your ticket, it’s cheaper and you’ll skip the purchase lines. Even better, go to a participating Walgreens, and save even more. –Bring lots of water — beverages are really expensive here. –Skip the turkey leg. It’s nothing but a novelty. It’s greasy, yet dried out and very bland. –Get there early, parking lot fills up quickly –Don’t stress out about the money, you’d spend as much or more at an amusement park, with less fun. –Have fun. See as many shows as possible, and just enjoy the day!!!

Not as much fun as it was years ago, but still a great day.

It has been years since I have been to the Renaissance Faire and after going again this year I felt sad for such a long stretch in between. The dates will probably be slightly different every year but for 2013 they were: Saturdays, Sundays & Labor Day Aug. 3rd — Sept. 22nd. Why go? Because it is just plain fun. Food, drink, shows, things to buy, people to see. Sure you can dressed up to blend into the mood a lot deeper but you will be no way out of place if you do not. The shows are really quite good. I remember the Stewart & Arnold Knife Throwing from years ago. Hey Nunnie Nunnie! was a complete blast. Ded Bob! was fun as well. The Royal Joust made for a good end of the day and I am sad it is going to be another year before going again. Speaking of which one of the younger ones in our group moaned about going(his first time) and at the end of day he was asking eagerly if we would be going again next year.
