A few years ago, with our house starting to *look* like our local library, my husband convinced me to get a library card and actually check out some books. I had no idea that your card gave you access to the entire library system, not just books from whatever branch you happened to visit. I was stunned to learn that you could simply go online, reserve a book, and it would be delivered to your local branch if they didn’t have the title. This includes books that aren’t yet released. You can go ahead and get in the queue for popular books prior to their publish date. I was hooked! And it was much better on the old wallet than monthly visits to the Barnes & Noble. I prefer actual physical books, it is my understanding that you can also check out e-books from the library. And music and movies if that’s your thing. If you’re running out of space on your own bookshelves, you can donate to the library. My branch is Nathan Hale — recently remodeled and very modern. The checkout system is a breeze. If you’re checking out four books, you can just stack all four under the scanner and it will read them all at the same time. There are also computer terminals with Internet access. It’s a great local library and a shining example of your tax dollars actually at work!

There has been an improvement in staff. Ben went out of his way to find me a couple of books by authors that were similar to Connelly, Child, Crais, and Lescoart. I like it better than I did for quite awhile.

I’ve been taking my granddaughter to the story time with Miss Nha on Thursdays and she is wonderful with the kiddos! I would highly recommend this to moms with preschool age kids. Songs, stories, bubbles and a sticker at the end! I agree with the other poster that some of the other employees are not quite as friendly but Miss Nha makes up for them. :-)
