The ratings for Cox expressed here are true. The names have not been changed. Cable box went out and wouldn’t reboot. So I call service, and I get scheduled for a time slot 3 – 5 the next day. You all those jokes about cable companies not doing what they said? Cox is it! 4:30 I call service — after taking time off work to be home by 3 and waiting. Cox guy says, Oh, he should be there by 4:43.(Yeah…sure.) 5:00 I call back. Sorry about that they say, let me credit you with a free movie. Only great if the TV worked. I’ll have the tech guy call you. 6:00 call back. Cox guy says, Oh let me give you $ 20 off your bill for being late… the tech should be there by 6:30. 6:30 call back. Asked for supervisor. Finally super gets online, Oh, let me give another $ 20 off. Should be right there, 5 minutes. Says my scheduled slots were 3 – 5 or 5 – 7. What??? I confirmed the appointment for 3 – 5, nothing about 5 – 7. They’ll be there, he says. 7:45(!) — wife says heading off to bed, might as well cancel. Call back, supervisor Carol says, Sorry, no appointments tomorrow. Say guys should be right there. No good enough I say, I want a makeup appointment for me taking off work and waiting. Nothing I can do, she says. 7:58PM — Two Cox guys show up. Job done in 30 minutes.

You guys ripped my business for a week from making credit card transactions just because your tech team isn’t capable of fixing noisy issue on the phone line with 72hours of complain! I will tell all my business friends and family YOU are not worth it!!!

Worst customer service ever! Waited two hours for a tech to come and hook up my cable. After no one showed up, I called and waited 45 minutes on the phone for them to tell me, it would be another week before they could hook up my cable.

I’ve used cox for over 5 years. The service has been great, minimum downtime, though prices are high. Recently I got rid of everything but their internet service, because I got tired of paying more and more each month for cable. I bought a large VHF/UHF antenna and just grab the local stations that way. After doing this, I received emails stating that I was using too much data a month. The ‘data cap’ for my super fast 50mbps downstream 10mbps upstream is only 300 gigabytes a month. 300 sounds like a ton, but with 50mbps you can easily exceed that in less than one day if you really tried! Spending almost double that and increasing speeds to 150mbps wouldn’t help, because the usage limit for that plan is only 400 gigabytes! I called to complain and they said that perhaps I should look into getting a business connection! I don’t even use my account for business. It’s really sad, because the latency is low and speed I get over advertised rates. Due to this small data cap, however, I will be switching as soon as another provider can beat this.
