I’ve been a huge fan of Tommy’s Original, for well over 30 years. My grandmother and some of my other family lived right across the street from the original location in Los Angeles. This location makes the exact recipe for the chili. Usually a franchise location isn’t as good as the original, but this one was delicious! The staff here is friendly and welcoming. Trust me, I’ve been to quite a bit and not all locations have the best staff! I ordered three double cheeseburgers, two french fries, one chili fries, and one tamale with chili only. I requested double chili on all the hamburgers and on the chili fries and the chili tamale. The fries and the tamale definitely had the obvious extra chili. The hamburgers did not have the extra chili, which is disappointing because I paid for the extra! We didn’t eat at the restaurant because we were hoping to get on the road quickly. This location is in Tujunga and we live in Carson. It’s very disappointing to open your food while you’re on the freeway, heading back home, and you discover your burger has less than normal chili! The worst part is I paid for it and didn’t get it! That’s why I purposely said no other condiments except chili only and extra chili! Otherwise this place is one of the best locations I’ve ever been to, food and staff included. Because of the lack of chili I paid for, I’m only reviewing this as adequate and NOT5 stars.

This place used to be the ultimate junk food splurge. I am sorry to say, and sorry to give a bad review, but these days it has gone way downhill. From the employees overcharging you, to a flavorless, unsalted frozen patty, to the oops we forgot your chili that you said you wanted three times… we are done with the tujunga location. We have had just too many bad experiences there. We are better off anyway; that chili tastes pretty good, but is terrible for you. My opinion is that it is melted from one of those chili bricks made of 60% lard, fillers, and meat flavoring. There isn’t any actual meat in it.

Definitely a local place… Not packed like In and Out down the street.(Line of cars wrapped around the corner) i asked the cashiet if he cld do a lettuce wrap, he looked a little puzzled, then asked the cook. Come to find out the only cook who knows how to make lettuce wraps was off that night. They were able to accomodate me by making a cheeseburger, without the bun and extra lettuce. It worked. The only thing i wasnt a big fan of was the chili. it was oily and an odd consistancy… I ended up scraping it off. My husband on the other hand ordered the double cheese burger(also with chili) and he loved it. To each his own!

Wtf. I love this place, but I think towards the end of their shift, they get lazy and start having an attitude… not a place to go after 12. I asked for a box Togo and the cashier whatever just slammed it down. Never coming back to this one

Haven’t been to Tommy’s in ages so when I drove by decided to stop. 1st thing is no drive through but no biggie. Guess we get used to drive through but remember the good olé days when we’d hit up the spot in LA. 1st thing I noticed was the sizes. way smaller than what I remember. chillis fries seems like half the size and the burger about the same. don’t get me wrong the flavor was just as i remember it but for almost $ 10 for a meal I thought I’d be getting the same meal i remember from back in the day.

Really nice folks working there but I found a really long hair in my chili cheese fries. It isn’t mine because it was deep down inside.(Vomit) pordon my french. First timer– last timer. I don’t play with that!

After a fun evening we stopped for a late night glutinous indulgence of the Tommy’s variety. The service was excellent, establishment clean… service quick, prompt and polite. Two problems existed: 1.) French fries were not extra crispy — request was made, and, the caliente burger was not close to spicy… it didn’t scratch the surface of zingy. Truth be told the buns also could stand to use a little more toasting too. Despite the complaints this is top notch Tommy’s. Worth the visit.

The dude that works at night has a serious attitude problem. My wife and I ordered a combo #2 meal. When our food was ready there was no drink. I asked the lazy prick about the drink. He said«I thought you just wanted the burger and fries.» What the #&@$”:/??? I said plainly that I wanted a number 2. My wife and I seriously believe this guy just did not like us for some reason and botched our order for his own personal reasons. We are always nice to everyone, but for some reason this guy appears to look down on friendly patrons. Whatever his problem was, my wife and I did not deserve to be treated that way. We will never come back to this establishment. I hope the dude that works there burns in hell.

Horrible Customer service, The guy at The register Seems like he HATES his job, he doesn’t even greet you, looks at you like you are bothering him. he gave us our order wrong and When we try to get the rest of our order he replied that he didn’t charge for it. If he had paid attention when we place the order we wouldn’t be «bothering him again». He is rude and careless. Please give jobs to people that appreciate having one.

The guy on the cashier did not say anything to me. I asked for my order and he took it. I said thank you. He didn’t say anything. He didn’t say anything at all. This guy seriously shows how much he doesn’t like his job. He needs to learn good customer service. I will never come here again.

I love Tommy’s. I don’t care the location, I’ll look for it wherever I can. Only drawback is they don’t have a drive-thru, but service is fast! Location and patio is clean. If you’re hungry for a cholesterol filled evening, this is thee place to go!

Went to this Tommy’s location to order a burger and fries and was told at 11 o clock at night THREE hours before closing that they didn’t have any fries because they had already started shutting and cleaning stuff up. The cashier, I don’t know what his name was he wasn’t wearing a name badge, laughed when I asked why they wouldn’t have fries at a place that only sells burgers and fries. If you are open until 1 am make sure people that are working the night shift aren’t lazy and so ready to go home that they start wrapping things up at 11 when there are plenty of customers still coming to order food.

What can I say? This is my favorite place to go for a chili craving. I don’t know what’s in it– but it’s like human catnip. There are other chili places out there, but for me, this is the best by far. I get the single cheeseburger with extra chili and I practically lick the overflow chili off the yellow paper wrapper. I also like their chili fries with cheese and onions. Over the years, there have been small changes… now they serve breakfast, accept Visa/MC and have a caliente burger that will threaten your nostril hairs. If I ever get married again, I’d be tempted to hire their Shack on Wheels for the reception. And I wouldn’t be able to wear white…

There isn’t much more I can say about Tommy’s that hasn’t already been said. If you like burgers, you’ll like Tommy’s. If you like chili burgers, you’ll LOVE Tommy’s. I was first introduced to the original Tommy’s on Rampart by my parents, over 40 years ago, and I love them(my parents) for that. When franchises started popping up, I was ecstatic. Now, there was one in my backyard, always open to feed that late-night hangover. When I went away for college, one of the best things about coming home was taking that first bite of a Tommy burger — that’s when you know you’re back in LA. I lived in San Diego for almost 2 decades, but could never find a place to squelch that longing for a good chili burger, until they opened a Tommy’s in Clairemont Mesa. Now that we’re back in LA, I find myself inexplicably stopping in for a Tommy burger anytime I see that red sign, no matter what time of day and what manner of dress. That explains why I’m in a suit at 9am at Tommy’s in Tujunga! It’s in my DNA. Thanks, Mom and Dad.

Love Tommy’s! Grew up on it in eagle rock, and now that we’re in Tujunga, it’s right down the street! Cool people, awesome food! Don’t know what else you can ask for…

I used to frequent this Tommy’s since my grandparents lived a few miles down. The good thing about this location is that it’s one of few places that is open late in this part of town. I used to love Tommy’s burgers(hold the tomato, extra cheese, easy onion, chili on the side of the chili fries) but I do value my health and good breath. The only thing I didn’t like about this location were the weirdos that came by while we ate there and the chili also taste different. Haven’t been here in years. My health has been good so far.

This place now has Hamburgers just like In-and-Out Burgers. They now have the California Classic, with no chili, but with thousand island dressing and lettuce, tomato, onions, pickles and cheese if you want. I myself enjoy getting the Chili cheese burger with everything and my girlfriend enjoys getting the California Classic and we also get an order of Chili Cheese Fries all for only $ 9.14…now that is a deal. Drinks are extra.
