Recently moved to Tucson and had been desperately looking for a jewelry and jewelry repair shop, preferably one that was family owned with a decent reputation. Walked into Thigpen and immediately knew this was THE ONE! Got my watch repaired, jewelry cleaned (cleanings are free), and got a reasonable estimate to clean up and get my wedding bands re-​dipped. Mari and Bill were so kind, professional, timely and seem extremely trustworthy. Mari also assisted me in finding a new silver chain and some small silver hooped earrings. Decent selection even after Christmas and again, reasonably priced.
I would recommend Thigpen for your everyday jewelry, your fine jewelry, jewelry repair, jewelry design and the awesome customer service that comes with it!

Thigpen Jewelers is a small, independent, local jewelry shop. They have been making and selling jewelry since 1981 and are honest, reliable, and knowledgable. The staff is never pushy and they are always willing take as much time as necessary to help their customers.
Thigpen makes and repairs jewelry in-​house. Their chief jeweler is Bill Thigpen himself, but it’s not uncommon for them to have additional staff jewelers. They are capable of doing any repairs you need or designing and building custom pieces from scratch.
Thigpen Jewelers stocks interesting estate jewelry ranging in age from the 1830s up as well as modern pieces from a variety of manufacturers. There’s always something new and interesting in the displays.
I highly recommend Thigpen Jewelers. If you’re looking for a local, independent, cozy jewelry shop this is it. If you want thousands of items to choose from or bargain basement prices then you’ll be disappointed. If you want a unique gift at a fair price then go to Thigpen.

I went to this place with my antique platinum ring. The shank was cracked and it had been poorly repaired in the past. After a talk with the owner, who for once was knowledgable about this ring, he fixed it for me on the spot. Getting platinum fixed properly and promptly has been a difficult problem for the fifty years I have worn the ring almost daily. I recommend this place highly if you have antique jewelry.

This jeweler was recommended by a friend. I have expensive jewelry and I would not trust it to just anyone. I left my job to focus on school so despite owning expensive jewelry I am on a very tight budget right now. I had them repair two necklace chains totaling $ 45. I trusted my friend that they were an honest fair priced place, however when I inquired about separating a sodered platinum wedding ring from the band they quoted me $ 300!!! Not to add platinum, not to do anything else to the ring, just separate it! I was under the impression they did in house work but the woman said they would «take it «to their jeweler. They also wanted $ 90 to appraise the ring they had already appraised for the previous owner (my friend), when I asked why it was so much money to appraise it if they had already had the appraisal on file, she dropped the price to $ 50. I decided to check around and research other local jewelers and found S. Silverberg and Sons at 5420 E. Broadway. Despite the feel of a much higher end jeweler (guard at the door, huge showroom, jewelers and attendants in full suits) and rave reviews, Silverberg is only charging $ 25 to separate the ring and $ 50 for the appraisal. I did not ask what they charge for chain repair but I am sure it is less (probably half) of what I paid at Thigpen!!! I don’t know how business’ can gouge like this and continue to get decent reviews, inflating prices 100% plus above industry standard is a form of dishonesty!!!
