Talavera Engineering is an BIGAVOID. Rene at Talavera was hired to engineer an18’ 4″ x 6″ Steel Beam on the outside front and 30+’ of Steel Beam on the back of a house. Rene did not design the beams with a simple slip joint. When the weather got to be 10 degrees one morning and 7 degrees the next morning the Steel Beams contracted causing Cracks in the Block. The Steel contracts and expands at a different rate than the block. A 18′ Steel beam I am told by many engineers will contract about ¼″. Any good engineer will design a Steel Beam with Slip Joints which allow the Steel to expand and contract freely. A slip joint is not always necessary when the steel is on the inside which is usually sheltered by the elements but many engineers will still incorporate a Slip Joint in the Steel Beam as a safeguard. Also there no End Caps on the open ends of the Steel beams which would keep out bugs and rodents. Rene at Talavera was also responsible for a design on part of the Structure and there are major foundation and structural issues with the house. If Talavera cannot design a simple Steel Beam I would not trust them with designing any other house in part or full.
