Hot dogs to suit every flavor and taste! These guys have tents everywhere! The street fair, the farmer’s markets, events all over Tucson. They also have their physical location at the the U of A. We stopped in for breakfast today after a bike ride. I had the German breakfast that the owner talked me into, it was fantastic! Applesauce, and Polish sausage, sauerkraut and potato pancakes — these chunky short sausages were so full of flavor, and the applesauce on top of the potato pancake went so well together! They also have a nice variety of coffees and lattes, and every imaginable hot dog! They’re only open until 3:00 every day, so go early. The courtyard is beautiful, it ‘s a perfect post bike ride, or Sunday morning breakfast stop! The owner was so friendly and informative! You can also bring your own alcohol if you choose! Loved it!

Excellent food at a decent price in a great location. Our regular destination for early lunch; one of us always orders breakfast and loves it. The rest get dogs with fries, onion rings or homemade chips when they have them. They sell Usingers dogs(out of Wisconsin) which are fantastic. You can actually buy bulk Usingers products at Mutts as well so we keep our freezer stocked at home for much less than we’d pay at Sprouts or AJ’s. When they have soup it’s amazing; not a regular menu item though so be sure to ask. Apple pancake special is outstanding when it’s available too. Outdoor courtyard seating is SO nice. Very shaded with a little fountain in a courtyard shared with other businesses. Just really nice atmosphere. Dog friendly(Hey, it’s Mutts!).

I’m not the biggest fan of hot dogs, but I am a huge fan of anyone who treats my dog like the princess she is!(I know I’m a little crazy, but anyone who is a dog mama will understand) My puppy loves it when we eat here because it means she gets 4 pieces of hotdog chopped up for her served in a little ketchup bowl. Hotdogs here are OK and will definitely do in a pinch. My greatest annoyance with this place is their mediocre or almost terrible hot dog buns. Last time I ate here my hot dog bun was so smushed that it barely contained my hot dog. They should definitely reconsider their hot dog buns because the buns are more important than the hot dog itself. It’s the first texture that hits my mouth and should be warm and soft, not stale and mushy.

It was a HOT day, my DOGs were tired and I was hungry. Even my WEINER dog, Franz was tired of walking those short little legs around University Blvd. I told my friend FRANK I could walk no FURTER. He said not to worry that I just need to LINK my arm in his and put one FOOT in front of the other and take a LONG step up the stairs to the entrance for SAUSAGE Shangri-La. See what I did there? LOL — Used most of the synonyms I know for what Mutt’s serves and serves extremely well: HOTDOG WEINER FRANKFURTER LINK FOOTLONG SAUSAGE So no, I don’t have a weiner dog and I don’t know who Frank is. But L & I discovered Mutt’s one day when he picked me up for lunch and we’ve since been back numerous times. Mutt’s is located in Geronimo Square and is housed in a cute, little building that is bright and clean inside. The staff are super friendly and go out of their way to please. Servers, cooks, managers — they ALL are so happy to see you walk in and are anxious to serve you up some of the best dogs around. They use only the best weiners and boy are they good! Some of what we’ve tried and LOVED: Surf Dog — dog served with pineapple relish. Decent but the relish needs something Snoring Dog — Mutt’s version of a Sonoran hot dog. YUM Messy Dog — Chili dog at its finest Mac the Dog — Mac ‘n cheese on a dog? Yes please! Windy Dog — Love the poppy seed bun and bright green relish on this dog Polish Sausage — Those onions on the sausage are perfectly carmelized Smoked Brat filled with cheddar cheese and jalapenos — OMG, I love this Don’t forget to try their homemade potato chips. HUGE chips cooked perfectly and ready to take home. HOTDOGS! Get your HOTDOGS at Mutt’s

Busy morning at breakfast but service was rediculously slow! Only 1waitress serving the entire outside patio(about 8 or 9 tables). 1 woman who did nothing but serve water, some guy who did nothing but dump water into the plants, and 1 waitress running her butt off! Took 20 minutes to get a cup of coffee. We walked out after 50 minutes, still hadn’t received our order. Nobody has a clue how to run a restaurant!

I was so excited that there was a new breakfast place on university since good breakfast places on campus are a rarity. Unfortunately it fell short. Tried the ultimate Benedict and the eggs were more soft boiled than poached and the sauce had no flavor. Plus they were pretty stingy with their hash browns for the $ 11 price tag. I bet their dogs are amazing but breakfast is definitely not their thing.

Another great dog place. I seem to look for each State’s dog joint. You can’t go wrong here and service was great.

it took over a half an hour to prepare and was the most expensive hot dog I have ever bought and by far the worst.

Very pleasant atmosphere and has AC not a swamp cooler. The veggie omelette was cooked well but lacked any flavor as any veggie omelet would. You will have franks red hot, tabasco, and tapatia to add if you choose. Probably the best hash browns I have had in a long time. The #19 cilantro brat tasted good and was cooked well on a toasted(generic) hot dog roll. Its an Unsinger brat so they are the size of a hot dog. Service was good.

Really nice little hot dog place on University. I have only ever tried their hot dogs, which are really good and on the cheaper side. The owners are always chillin in the restaurant so you’re sure to get great service. It isn’t as fast as you’d think for hotdogs, which is good because you’re assured that your hot dog is gonna be great, but it’s a little bad if you have limited time to be getting a quick bite to eat.

The place is amazing, is location in a small plaza is just great. It also helped that the day overall was great. The owners are just top notch, and I felt welcomed from the first time. The food itself was great and it was easily one of the best hot dogs I’ve had, and it was promptly served with a side of Onion rings and refill soda. If you are in for a quick bite, you cannot miss this place.

Owner was out greeting and serving customers which is a plus. I had the breakfast sandwhiches which was wonderful. Starbucks should take a lesson from this place. It’s going to be my new go to for breakfast sandwiches.

Cute little place with an excellent environment. Plus they’re dog friendly so our four-legged friends could join us outside. Menu selection was great with a full selection of breakfast and wide variety of sausages that they offer all day long. The rest of my party wanted breakfast but I couldn’t resist the gourmet sausage which tasted excellent! Incredibly friendly and attentive staff rounded out a great experience. I definitely look forward to coming back to try some more.

They have a good selection hot dogs, variety of breakfast items, and lunch specials. I had the chicken fried steak with 2 eggs and hash browns for $ 7.00 which was very flavorful. Service was very good and the owners came out to see how the service and meal was which I thought was fantastic. They have shaded tables under the tress on the patio which makes it very pleasant to sit to eat breakfast or lunch.

Came here with the kids after helping out over at Ben’s Bells.(It’s right across the way.) What a delightful place! The owners are super friendly. Honestly, when we got our menus, I wanted to try every single hot dog. =) I finally decided on the smoked chicken sausage filled with canadian bacon & swiss cheese, with fried egg & carmelized onions on top. My son went with the Snoring Dog, a bacon wrapped hot dog with mustard, refried beans, guacamole, cheese, salsa & jalapeño lemon mayo. And my Marissa ordered the Naked Dog with bacon(of course). We decided to upgrade one to a «Dog Pack» which includes a drink and fries to share. Wow, each one came out wonderful & yummy! My order was nice and juicy, and I loved the homemade fries too! But, I don’t know if it was cause I didn’t eat till then, but I was still a bit hungry afterward! My daughter did give me a couple bites of her hot dog, and that held me over. =) My son’s snoring dog is the Mutts version of the sonoran dog, and it was not too bad. They both loved their hot dogs! I would really like to come back and try some of their breakfast items, so I’ll update you when I do. Also FYI, this place is pet friendly! The owner said you could bring your pet and sit in the patio area. When you do, they’ll even take a pic and post it on their facebook page! Cool! All in all, the place is pretty awesome! Great location, and nice, friendly crew! Definitely will visit again!

I skipped over here one day with a friend for lunch. We were very thoroughly surprised to see that Joel had sold his business and, sprung up in its place, there was now a gourmet hot dog restaurant. What a contrast. This is somewhat heartbreaking. We’ve known Joel for years and frequented his restaurant for years! But, interestingly, the current restaurant owners have maintained a sizable portion is his breakfast menu. You can still get the breakfast omelettes, the crepes, the eggs Benedict and some of the lobster items. Best bet is people will be coming for the dogs. The menu was a fun read. There are hotdogs with toppings like spinach, feta, fritos, strawberry jam… Strawberry jam? Yes, folks, strawberry jam. The man who I believe is the business owner informed us that they were more than 20 different hot dogs on the menu. The prices range from about $ 3-$ 5.50. In addition to standard hot dogs they have andouille sausage. Nice! For $ 3.50, you can add a drink and a side of fries. The fries by themselves were nearly 3 dollars, which I found excessive, but the dogs don’t come with sides. I opted for the snoring dog, which is an alteration of the Sonoran hotdog. I was surprised to find that it had refried beans and avocado on it. So here’s the verdict: while the service was exceptional and I love the concept, especially on University Boulevard, the hotdog was underwhelming. The refried beans had become cold, and we know what happens when refried beans cool down. The bun also seemed not entirely soft or fresh. The bacon and avocado were good. And I was glad to see Mexican cheese on the hotdog. The french fries were the star of the afternoon, but really, the hot dog just wasn’t very good. I plan to return to try one of their sausage dogs, and as a recommendation, I would say at least give them a first try.
