I needed to see an OBGYN as soon as possible, and I was excited because I was able to get an appointment with Dr. Gurshweir the same day that I called. ‘Good start!’, I thought to myself. However after my appointment, I found out why.
In all fairness, the lady at the front desk was ‘nice’ — nothing to rave about but I guess she could have been a little more peppy. I cannot remember the name of the nurse who took me to the back and checked my vitals, but she was wonderful! She listened to me, was very sweet, made me laugh despite how awful I felt that day — simply top notch. I was also able to see the doctor within 3 minutes of being brought to the back of the office — something that just doesn’t happen. EVER.
The nurse took me to Dr. Gurshweir’s office for my consultation — this was prior to being taken back to an exam room. Needless to say, I thought that was a bit odd. As soon as I walked in, he looked at me with a bit of a smirk and gave me a hand shake. Upon sitting down, the questions were being fired at me. Good, general medical questions. However I would start to respond and he continually cut me off to ask another question. It felt like he wasn’t listening to me, but he was simply because he did continue to ask appropriate follow up questions. His solution to my problem was the most extreme possibility, and I was a bit surprised by that. Not only that, but when I was describing a procedure I had done a few months back, he (perhaps in an attempt to be discrete) rolled his eyes because I couldn’t remember every little detail. Rude!
I was taken into an exam room for a routine examination and, without delving into my personal details, let’s just say Dr. Gurshweir didn’t have the gentlest of hands. It hurt a lot, and made me cry! Not only that but when my stomach moved as a result of me crying, he said sternly to please stop that. Rude again!
His diagnosis was practical, however no immediate relief was offered. When I asked if he had any suggestions or something he could provide for immediate relief, he simply and un-​sympathetically said he had absolutely nothing else to help me and just walked right out. Thanks, thanks a million.
Dr. Gurshweir didn’t smile, barely made eye contact, and didn’t act like he listened to a word I said. Being cut off upset me, and his lack of sympathy was borderline appalling. I also forgot to mention that I had my absolutely adorable nine month old son with me, to which Dr. Gurshweir had no reaction — not even a ‘He’s cute!’ or ‘How old is he?’ Everyone else on his staff made at least one comment, and acknowledged that my son was there. That really took me aback — a big part of the Obstetrics and Gynecology field in my experience is DELIVERING BABIES. Please, correct me if I’m wrong.
All in all: If you are looking for an OBGYN with absolutely NO personality or appearance to care about what you’re saying — Dr. Gurshweir is the doctor for you.

I’m going to admit, I was put off by this office more then once, the front desk lady needs a attitude check. The nurse has her good and bad days. The only thing keeping me coming back is the fact that this guy has been doing this for 45 years! Although, it would have been nice to know that he does everything very very old school. No option on immediately putting baby on chest. No option to cut or to tear. When I asked him about a water birth he kinda laughed in my face. He also didn’t tell me that while I was pushing, my baby’s BP kept spiking but I wasn’t told of this till after he came out. HE was also very very pushy with the epidural. So, if you don’t mind it old school, he is the guy for you. If you would like to explore new birthing paths, look elsewhere. IF I have another one, I’ll be looking elsewhere!
