Sports Bar, crowds, long list of beer choices, hot french fries, small packed interior, jammed bathroom. We had a fun, friendly & helpful server.

I ordered from here via delivery. I’m new on this side of town and I’ve been ordering out a lot. I ordered a smothered burger(mushrooms and onions) and(I forgot the name) two big cookies that came with supposed to have different ice cream options. The food was elevated from a normal burger joint. Lots of options for Havarti cheese. The flavors were pretty much all there. My issue is that the burgers came medium rare to medium. I didn’t see anything on the website that stated this obviously. I do enjoy a medium burger but I know a lot of people that wouldn’t touch it if they saw pink. There were no options to change this preference. My burger wasn’t smothered and I only saw a single mushroom. The bun was buttered though and very flavorful. The French fries were seasoned but soggy. I ordered garlic knots and I agree with the other reviews that they weren’t garlicky at all. The biggest thing is that I thought I received the wrong burger because the lack of toppings and we got the wrong desert. We got two cookies with a side container of chocolate sauce and a cup of «ice cream». It was like melted ice cream with a slightly sour and sweet taste. I didn’t like it personally but it was not what I ordered. I appreciate a place that scales up the ingredients but unsure if I will order again.

Good little bar serving up a great beer selection and some good eats. Can be a bit noisy at times especially with the games on and a lively college crowd. Good craft beers and a mixed drink were enjoyed by all three of us on the visit. All of the appetizers we ordered seemed fresh and were delicious. Don’t forget to check in here! We go a coupon for ½ off an appetizer for checking in.

What is it they say? Location, location, location. Because that is one of the best things Frog & Firkin have going for them. Smack-dab in the middle of University, it’s a prime spot for hanging out, watching the game, partying before the game, people watching, drinking and filling your belly with something to sop up the alcohol. Frog & Firkin can get really packed and on game day, it’s quite the mix of alumni and other folk but way overpacked with obnoxious college kids. But that’s to be expected, right? So know that before going in and you’ll be just fine. Just settle in, think back a few years to when you were in college and have a good time. So why the 3 stars? The food man, the food. My man and I stopped in for lunch yesterday since the ticket time at our favorite hot dog place down the street was looking at 30 – 40 minutes. We were seated right away by Shannon who by the way, was an excellent server. Friendly, just attentive enough and very aware of her surroundings in a busy environment. Any time I needed something, I would just glance up to catch her eye and start to raise my finger near my face and despite how busy she was, she would be table side within a moment or two. OK, back to the food. We started with garlic knots which are served with marinara. They sounded good on the menu but in actuality were just hunks of pizza dough with very little flavor. I guess I expected the flavor to be more buttery, garlicy, perhaps a little salty but these were boring. Even the marinara didn’t help. I ate one and left the rest. L didn’t care for them either. I had the South of the Firkin Border Burger which is burger meat mixed with chorizo and topped with pepper jack and green chile. Shannon recommended the pretzel bun and the bun was a nice different twist. But the burger was a bit dry and there wasn’t enough heat for me but I tend to be really picky on the use of green chiles and chorizo because I like to feel the heat. I will say that the burger was pretty large, just not memorable for me. L had a Firkin Smoked Cheeseburger and it was pretty lackluster. Just a small spread of BBQ sauce on the burger along with smoked cheddar. Just wasn’t «smoked» enough for him. L also asked for a couple of onion rings to put on his burger but our server misunderstood and substituted onion rings for french fries which would have been OK except for the fact that he literally got«a couple of onion rings» on his plate… like 3. LOL His burger was overcooked as well. **Don’t forget to check in, Unilocalers. I checked in and got 50% off my appetizer. All in all, the experience was OK. Not spectacular but just OK. Maybe next time I’ll just go with a couple of Fish Piss shots because THAT sounds fun!!!

Decent spot for UA students and fam to grab a bite. It’s slow service despite the number of helpers they have. So clearly the kitchen was or is short staffed. All we had was salad and an appetizer each. Overall this place is a solid 3 stars and the foodie matches to that rating… nothing mouthwatering«gotta have it» but still good good. Vibe is most enjoyable and I can see how the place is packed with students. Lots of TVs for game watching and good music so for that I def give them a thumbs up and a ½ star extra.

Wow! Been to this place 3 or 4 times and service is usually good. This time was awful! Sat around forever before getting an appetizer order in. Waited another 30 min before server got our order for dinner. Waited 45 min and asked how our pizza order was coming and the server realized he never put in the order. Only offered us a round of drinks if we wanted to wait for the pizza to be made. It was semi-busy, not super swamped. Very disappointed. Finally a manager came out after we asked for one and still only offered to buy a round of drinks. Finally after discussing with the manager they came back and took care of the bill. Two drinks a piece and two appetizers. Had a group of 5 of us. Not like we had a giant group.

This is one of the most popular patios on university which is great for Tucsons weather. The patio is pretty specious, while indoors is small. It’s a good place to watch games outdoors. As for the food, typical bar food. The pizza is actually quite good… Especially the deep dish. Service has always been good, despite being very busy… All the time! Drinks are a little pricey, but I understand if they can get that as they are always packed. They have a huge bottled beer list, something for everyone. Depending what you are in the mood for, I would be cautious about late night here– lots of drunk college kids.

First off, let me say that I am an extreme nacho advocate. A nacho connoisseur, if you will. Every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday night, I will have a plate of the finest nachos in my one bedroom studio with a small glass of red wine. I will turn on an episode of Whose Line is it Anyway and be in pure euphoria. So believe me when I say I know a thing or two about nachos. Frog & Firkin’s nachos are, simply put, sub-par. The cheese is thinly spread, almost non existent. The salsa, while admittedly good, is much too small too accomodate that amount of dry, non-cheesified nachos they give. The only redeeming factor these nachos hold are the toppings(chicken, bacon, or sausage) which come at a hefty price. Unless you are willing to spend heavy to not enjoy very mediocre nachos, avoid the nachos here at all costs. All this being said, I have literally no opinion of any other food item. Except the hummus, which is bland and tasteless. Servers and the ambiance were nice, though.

Most of the reviews I read seem to nail it pretty well. Let’s review: William B. says«I suppose $ 5 for a beer is about average… Just a tad outside my price comfort range.» Bella says, «I don’t come here for a food experience, but they’ve got plenty of french fry options and apps to pair with their beer menu!» Kyle B. says, «Nothing spectacular, but nothing bad.» Aaron R. nails the star rating and agrees with William, «Better than a 3 probably not a 4. Beer is too expensive. D R summarizes it perfectly, «It is what it is. A college town bar with cool outside tables for enjoying nice Tucson AZ weather.» Mark S. says: Beer is a little high priced, but when we were there they had Bloody Marys and Mimosas on special. It’s definitely a college hangout and not someplace for the older crowd. Stay away on game days if you are not a student… you’re just setting yourself up for frustration. Menu(especially the fries) has some creativity with lots of things with pesto on the menu. The guys at the table next to us DIDNOT like the pizza. I’d say, when a group of guys does not like the pizza, you may want to find something else on the menu. We had the green fries, with pesto and brie, and each had the Mediterranean salad with sun dried tomato and feta vinaigrette. The salad was good, not great. The cucumber slices on top were HUGE but the weirdest part was the chicken. It was shredded so fine you could hardly tell it was there. If I were twenty(OK, thirty!) years younger and mommy and daddy were footing the college bill, I’d probably love this place. As it is, I’m too old and grumpy to frequent«The Frog».

Disappointing. The outdoor seating is great, but very slow to actually receive our food. Chicken nachos, burger and fries. Nachos we NOT worth the price. Glad I found the 50% off coupon on Unilocal so I didn’t feel as bad about paying for them. My husband said his burger was ok, very light on the French fries, which were nothing special. So many other great places around we will not be back.

What a charming little place on University! One of the few places I’ve been to that carries my favorite beer, Kona Big Wave, on tap!!! Super exciting for me. I ordered the pizza with BBQ chicken, jalapeños, red onion and green peppers and it was yummy. A little skimpy on the chicken but good overall flavor. Service was good and the location is prime college town which could be a good or bad thing depending on who you are LOL. I will be back for my Big Wave on draft and the cute atmosphere. Hopefully it’s not a rotating tap.

The ambient is wonderful and the service was quite good. However, as it was a rainy day, the guests sat inside which makes the place crowded even with a handful of people. I had the Firkin Smoked Cheeseburger. Apart from the patty being a bit too well done, I loved the flavour and the juiciness of the burger. It came with a relatively hard bun, which is a plus for someone living in Germany. I’ll give it another shot on a sunny day! PS: Damien is a good waiter!

Frog is a University of Arizona landmark, beloved by students, teachers and alumni alike. There is no better place near campus to watch the ‘Cats, or any big sporting event for that matter. Their beer list of over 100 different bottles and taps is unrivaled, and the front patio is an ideal setting for a warm Arizona night. Unfortunately, while the beer and environment are top notch, the food is downright bad. The menu is boring and the eats are poor, even for bar food.

I think their pizza has its own character, very flavorful fillings and sauce and decent thick crust.

Great place for margaritas or I should say, frogaritas! If you’re still thirsty you could also opt for the big toad, an up-sized frogarita… as far as pizza goes, the fox firkin is delish and if you’re not feeling adventurous the regular cheese slice is a good option too… the catch o the day salad is also good if you’re trying to go healthy-ish. Frog& Firkin is also one of the few spots that give a Unilocal check in offer although you can’t avail the offer unless it’s hardcopy :( Overall, chill spot near campus. Plus, they sometimes have live music.

Super service, good food and wide beer selection. Had the Crown Jewel salad and really liked it. Not a big salad eater but this one has enough meat on it for any carnivore. About 25 taps and many, many bottle selections. You won’t go without finding something you like. Id like to see this place on a game day Saturday. I’m betting I’d have competition for the bar stool I’ve had for the last couple nights. It’s relatively quiet in Tucson right now. They have a nice outdoor area in the front too. Lots of good choices right on this strip but I’d recommend cruising in to the Frog & Firkin if you’re in the area.

I went up to the bartender(tall older bald man) to get a drink and he tells me he can’t take my CAID. Why I ask? 30 days after my 21st birthday the vertical license can’t be accepted… Since I’m from CA I had no clue about this law and asked some more questions. He talked to me like I was stupid, and then tells me «you’re 24, time for you to get a big girl ID» YOU’RESOGOODATCUSTOMERSERVICE! I get this is an AZ law but had never heard about it before and he could of been a lot nicer about it and more understanding. For the owners of this establishment you might want to make sure your workers 1. Can explain this law to CA residents since it’s not a law in our state 2. Are a bit more understanding as to why someone might be a bit upset 3. Don’t spit on guests

Just came by for drinks and appies on the patio. This is a great place for college kids to drink and hang. They have a HUGE beer selection. We ordered the cheese nachos and that’s exactly what we got.

Came here with friends to celebrate the completion of our final presentations for our senior year at UA. The food was fantastic. The pizza we ordered was a deep dish and was covered with toppings. It was served hot and was more than enough to split between four of us. The white fries are AMAZING. I’ve never had fries that were as good as these ones. They were drenched in mozzarella and other cheeses. So tasty! Our drinks took a long, long time to be brought out. I get that it takes awhile for a bartender to make so many drinks when you have 12(ish) people in your party, but half of what was ordered was shots which shouldn’t take nearly as long as it did. Regardless, we weren’t in a hurry and it didn’t bother me much that it took so long to get the drinks. Honestly the only reason this isn’t a five star review is because of the service. We had a big group so I can understand a waitress being overwhelmed by that to some extent, but the waitress we had was really abrupt and rude. I get that people who work here probably have to deal with college students all the time and don’t love their jobs, but there’s no need to be rude to paying customers. At one point I was holding my check after putting my card in it and she literally snatched it out of my hand without saying anything. It was rude enough that at least three people at my table looked at me like«What the *** was that?» after it happened. I’d come back here, but not if it meant having that waitress again.

Came here for lunch on Christmas eve and this was probably the most packed restaurant on this street. The manager was nice enough to allow our two dogs in the patio and our server was even nice enough to make a makeshift water bowl for our dog. The pizza size here is HUGE! I find myself having a hard time trying to finish two slices. It is very yummy though as it has a nice crust that is not oily at all. The server recommended the yellow skins with ham and pineapple and it wasn’t disappointing at all. The lightly salted ham chunks complemented well with the sweetness of similarly chunks of pineapple nested over a plate of seasoned fries. Overall, great service and yummy food. Beware of their HUGE portion sizes! Two words: Come hungry.
