Greta hike! Views, desert fauna, peace and quiet and more. It’s not easy, bring the right shoes and water. The grandkids (5 &9) scampered up with much stress, wife had a bit more work. Park at top of Alvernon.

Great hike to the top. Not for the faint of heart. Steep and difficult trail most of the way.
DO NOT miss the trail as it leaves the valley floor! It’s about 1.1 miles into the trail. I missed it and continued to bushwhack up the valley. There are cairns all the way up the valley so don’t be fooled. If you reach a pesticide sign, you’ve missed the turn.
Other than that, great hike. Once you get up pretty high the landscape changes to rock outcroppings and pine trees. It’s beautiful.

Hiking here for the first time. It was soo AMAZING! It is a great place for hiking! This place doesn’t allow dogs and of course it may be too dangerous for them. This has a better view when you get on the top.
