A really good time away from the world of electronics to have fun, use your brain and take a break from reality into a world of solving puzzles. A great time for all.

Hosted nine girls to celebrate my daughter’s 13th birthday at Escape Room Tucson. It was excellent. Given the size of our group, we were recommended to Area 51, perhaps the most challenging of the current options… nobody has solved it yet. Our crew, with some gentle guidance, ended up four clues away! These escape rooms are becoming more popular and are a combination of team building/communication exercises and flat our braintwisters/riddles and puzzles. The girls had so much fun, and it was a great way to spend the evening. I would highly recommend this place. The couple who runs it are terrific. They were helpful, responsive, and made the experience one to remember. I think it is most fun to book out the whole room with your group… but I can see doing it with strangers being a fun and unique challenge, too. Our crew was made up of 13 year olds, and I think that is probably right at the cusp of the right age. Super mature and engaged 12 year olds? Sure… but beyond that I think it gets too young. I will definitely return… to try Area 51 and the other themed rooms, as well. A great addition to town.

I love doing escape rooms. I have done them all over the world. These escape rooms are some of the BEST I have ever done. You have 60 minutes to attempt to escape the room by solving a series of riddles and puzzles. Of course you are not locked in the room, but the experience is so engaging that the time just flies by. There are three rooms each with a different theme and different difficulty level. None are easy but«The Hangover» is the least difficult and«Area 51» the most difficult with«Da Vinci» in between the two. Some escape rooms you go to are just rooms with a few props, so you just work through the game and get to the end, but these rooms are different. The owner AJ, has really invested a lot of time in designing and creating the rooms. They are very detailed and elaborate and that gives it that extra wow factor. You really get immersed in the game and the theme of the room. The way the clues have been created and placed force you to think outside the box. You are in a room with a group of other people and you are forced to work as a team, there is no other way to escape the room. These rooms are ones that cannot be cracked by one person trying it alone. For obvious reasons I cannot reveal any of the clues. AJ has built game rooms that are a lot of fun for a friends night out, birthday parties, bachelorette and bachelor parties, corporate events, team building exercises, even first dates. It’s a great way to test your communication skills with your love interest. I cannot think of many better ways to spend an evening. The owner AJ, is very knowledgeable, she provides a briefing at the beginning of the game and off you go. I suggest you get there 15 minutes before the game starts to go through the briefing and get into the game. At the end of the game there is a common area where photos are taken and you can discuss your experience. But please don’t discuss the content of the room after the game so that no one accidentally hears you and has the game ruined for them. There are sodas and light snacks available for purchase. As far as escape rooms go, AJ has put together some of the best I have seen. I will be back to try the other rooms. I suggest that the minimum age should be 14 since some of the clues may be too difficult for young children. At $ 24 dollars per person these are also great value, so get your friends together and go and do these rooms.

Tired of spending your well earned dollars on a bad meal, or on the movies, only to be forced to sit in a smelly theatre? Why not spend the same on an experience that challenges your brain all while having FUN??? 5 adults tried to escape from Area 51, and even with the 3 free clues… and sigh… we failed! The Escape Room is a great venue for an office to challenge employees to build teamwork and trust, a church group to bond, or a couple to enjoy something other than the same old tired movie experience. My husband and I plan on visiting many more times… and may even look for other Escape Rooms around the country. After our time was up we gathered in the lounge area to rehash why we failed, all the while laughing and interacting with adults we had not previously known before. We highly recommend this event for teens(14 and up) through adult. Be sure to make an appointment before the busy season… I can guarantee when the word gets out you will have to wait weeks to get in!

Apparently I wrote my first review under the wrong Unilocal page! This place was FANTASTIC! The first time I had even heard of an escape room was on the Big Bang Theory. The gang got through it mighty quick, but they had several PhDs between them. I was a little bit nervous when I got invited to go. Was I going to be smart enough, or did I need an advanced degree to do this? We arrived, and you get shuttered in. You know those kind that businesses have so their place doesn’t get messed with at night? That kind. It was so fun and it put everybody in the right mood for no escape! Currently, they have a «Hangover»(the movie) theme, a «Da Vinci Code» theme and an «Area 51» theme. The owner, AJ, told us we would be doing the«Area 51» themed room. Without giving too much away, or any of the clues, I will say that it was awesome. There are props from the time period, the clues are great and you get three hints if you get stuck. There is something for everybody to do, so it isn’t one person doing all of the work, and while the clues are really challenging, it is doable in the hour that they give you to complete the room. Afterwards, there is a nice little area that you can sit out with the others and talk about it. They have some soft drinks and snacks available for purchase, and we had a fun time talking about who found what and where and how we came with some of the clues. AJ told us that she was thinking about putting a room that was big enough for two, so that if a couple wanted a date night to talk about forever they could do one on their own. There were also talks about one that was for children. I would be interested to see a really frightening one in the mix someday, maybe apocalypse themed or something? My husband was saying that he would think one that was pitch black would be fun, maybe the lights go out halfway through and you only have flashlights? So many possibilities! AND it was only $ 24! We were there for about an hour and a half from start to finish, and it was a really fun, challenging, creative way to spend a couple of hours! This really was a date to remember!
