DoubleTree Suites by Hilton Hotel Tucson – Williams Center

Rooms were large, updated and clean, but security was a concern. There was no deadbolt on the doors and one of the gates to the open air hotel did not lock. This was mentioned to the hotel staff multiple times on different days and the issue was not resolved. It was frustrating that the hotel did not seem to place an importance on guests safety and security. If the security issue had bee fixed I would have easily rated it a 4 or 5.

If you’ve stayed at a Doubletree before, this property is not quite what you’d expect. This was once an Embassy Suites hotel, and is still set up more along those lines.
First, here’s what I liked about this hotel:
*The staff is very friendly and helpful;
*The free breakfast buffet has a tomatilla salsa to add to your eggs, and the pineapple and cantaloupe were sweet and delicious;
*The suites are spacious, with a television in each room;
*The king bed was very comfortable.
What I didn’t think was so great included the following:
*The fan in the teeny, tiny bathroom didn’t work;
*The attached Los Arboles Bar & Grill had a pathetic happy hour with not so good appetizers, even if they were half priced;
*The bedroom had riveted shut sliding glass doors that would have opened onto a narrow porch over the parking lot. The result was a very noisy night of opening and shutting car doors, guest conversations, and passing cars from the street. The hotel underwent recent renovations that should have included a wall on that side of the hotel. Glass doors do not provide a good sound barrier;
*Did I say the bathroom was small?
Overall, a nice enough hotel, but not the usual Doubletree experience. High marks for the breakfast buffet selection and staff.

You need to visit the restaurant here for breakfast… not for the food so much but to hear the waitress Becky sing opera to you! Wow I was blown away and this was a nice surprise on a Saturday morning after a work trip… well done, Becky! In addition to her wonderful voice, she is a very nice positive person with a great attitude. Having to travel for work a lot, it is refreshing to see this. The hotel itself is nice, and the recently renovated rooms super comfortable… Will stay again!

I stayed here earlier this month. It was an ok room. I left my watch in the room. When I called about it, the person at the desk would tell me housekeeping would call me. They never did even though I called several times. I finally went back to the hotel and spoke with the manager. She said she would check on this and call me by the next day. No call again and no watch.

Seriously disappointed !! With renovations rooms are much nicer BUT. No happy hour managers reception
And no complimentary breakfast !!! Bummer

This place gets two strs because of it’s walking proximity to restaurants. I arrive and the front desk moron informs me that they don’t have the king room I booked and had confirmed available so I get one of two of the last two queen rooms they have left. He gives me the remodeled room. I get there and the fucking A/​C doesn’t work. I go back and get the other room which is old and shitty but has barely functioning A/​C. The layout of the hotel is shitty and it appears that they are doing renovations. I’m more pissed that the front desk idiot just acted like whatever, not having the fucking room I booked. Fuck your reception and shitty breakfast. I’ll never come back to this shithole. There’s a Residence Inn around the corner which is even closer to the restaurants.

I travel for a living and have stayed at all kinds of hotels but have always thought Hilton properties were consistent in a reasonable value. I knew the hotel was doing a renovation but they would have been better off if they closed it until finished.
The carpet smelled and was filthy. The furnishings were dirty and ragged and should not have been rented.
We checked out as soon as we got to the room and the desk was more interested in cancelling our reservation than finding us another hotel. We were told the other Embassy had rooms the next day through the weekend, I asked him to make us a reservation and he said he couldn’t but they had plenty of rooms. I called them within 30 minutes and they were full. Guess if you don’t manage another property you don’t care.
After this experience I have to re-​think making Hilton my first choice.

To be fair, when I booked the room on the web, it was clearly noted that renovations were to begin in March 2015. The renovation is much needed! The rooms were immaculately clean, but the furnishings and amenities were worn and definitely ready for the recycle bin.
The service at the hotel was wonderful! The staff were wonderfully friendly, which definitely made up for any disappointment in the décor. The evening reception featured an open bar and snacks, which was right up my alley as I had to go back to my room to pack for a 6 am flight. The hotel is close to the Saguaro National Park, which offers a stunning view of Tucson and its desert beauty. It’s also close to many restaurants and a Target in case you forgot something.
I hope to be able to return after the renovation so that I can really take in all of the improvements!!!

Not on par with what you would expect from an Embassy Suites. We had booked 3 nights, but checked out after the first night. The rooms are dated and in need of major renovations. We didn’t take pictures, but I can vouch for the pictures posted by others. If you expect Embassy Suites, you will be disappointed. The pool area is nice but definitely dated as well. Do your homework. There are much nicer hotels/​resorts in the area for just a little more $$.

Once my most favorite hotel while in Tucson, they gutted the place, removed the Old Pueblo charm and modernized it. Horrible. Bring back Embassy Suites!

Two bedroom suite traveling with three children I always enjoy embassy suites. Clean but outdated interior. Beds were comfortable but a little too soft for me. Bathroom vanity is a dresser so you have to lean really far over to use the sink because your feet can’t get underneath the sink area. The pool area is super cool and the hot tub was visited by me wearing my clothes because I forgot to pack a swimsuit and really wanted to check out the pool! It was dark and my daughter wanted to go swimming… sooo I made it happen… worth every minute!
Great location to lots of great restaurants and coffee shop. Breakfast had lots of options too.

Stayed here this weekend. It’s OK. It’s an old property that they tried to renovate, but did it half assed.
The dining area is dingy and dark and looked like it was last updated in 1986. The pool area was clean, they gave you a TINY pool towel, not even big enough to wrap around your waste. There was drinking water available out there too. The pool itself was clean as was the spa.
The breakfast was MEEHHH. The omelet was good. The guy cooking was a little shady looking. Long, stringy dark hair, which he kept in a net. But there were several strands of hair that fell out. So basically, the net wasn’t doing anything to keep his hair back. I couldn’t get a smile out of him. It was really hot and uncomfortable waiting in line to get your food.
The pancakes were sitting there for a long time, my daughter had one. It was tough like leather. I had a hard time cutting it with a knife. There was a couple of sad pieces of fruit out, 2 muffins, and some bread. There was some yogurt and runny oat meal. A few other items which didn’t look too appetizing. I asked one of the workers for some maple syrup and they didn’t understand me. They had to get someone who spoke English. The second worker BARELY was able to communicate with me that they had a TROFF of syrup that I missed by the Snot (Oat)Meal.
Now on to the room. I had to carry my bags up 2 flights of stairs since they really don’t have an elevator (well they do but you’d have to walk around the whole building to use it).
The room was generally clean. We found a couple of small bugs in the room (like a beetle or something). And a baby lizard. I didn’t know I was staying in an insect habitat.
The bathroom sink was rather deep. So far that when I leaned forward to get the faucet handles I felt like I was going to fall into the sink. It was just an awkward distance. I’m not short either, it was about 10 inches wider than a normal sink.
The bath tub had stains in it, which Im sure if you used some AJAX and a scrubbing pad, you could get it out. My towels were all tattered on the ends, falling apart. How much would it have cost to get new towels? The shower head was strange and it shot out so hard and fast that it hurt my scalp. I had to change it to the «massage» setting so my shower wasn’t painful.
The TV remote was really weird. You had to point it at JUST THE RIGHT SPOT on the TV for it work. I would press the channel up button several times and nothing happened. It took like 3 minutes just to scroll through the channels. It was very frustrating. I don’t know if the batteries were going or what, but it made it hard to watch TV.
I got a good (group) rate and a 2 room suite (which was great since I had my family with me). But, I don’t think i will be staying here again. This is not what I expect out of a Hilton brand. I could have stayed somewhere nicer for $ 25 more. The free breakfast wasn’t worth it for me, I would just assume go somewhere in town nice (Beyond Bread) is around the corner and has a great breakfast for about $ 6.

First off, I’m a Hilton Honors member, been one for several years and have stayed in the Hilton chain all over the world. Never have I stayed in such a dilapidated hotel. The front desk crew had other things to do than check me in and seemed put off when asking them directions to my room. The cost of guest laundry was a joke (nearly $ 6.00 per load) and when I discovered their vending machine was out of detergent causing me to go all the way to the front desk to get some. After paying for my detergent, I witnessed the front desk clerk pocket the money I gave him. Okay, here are some positives for their two star rating: 1) their pool is nice and relaxing. 2) you can’t beat free beer during their managers’ special from 5pm to 7pm. And finally, they’re located a short distance away from some good eating establishments. Best of luck if you’re staying here!

We were here two months ago, and we still cannot believe this is in the Hilton Honors family of hotels!
The staff was friendly at check-​in, although they seem to be preoccupied with visiting amongst themselves even as we stood at the desk.
The dining room and staff and breakfast were wonderful — everyone was SOOOO pleasant and helpful. We enjoyed eating outside — the weather was perfect. There is, of course, inside seating, also.
The outside landscaping is lovely — and some of the plants and cacti are labeled.
Also — special note — Even on the 1^st level (there are 2) you must take your suitcases DOWN 8 steps. For some this may not be a problem; for others it may be!
As shared by another guest, the bathroom can hardly be called a room — a «closet» is a good term. I had to go outside to dry off after bathing. One good thing — the shower had good water pressure.
Now the part the still leaves us shaking out heads:
The room (king bed) was VERY dark, very worn chairs and sofa, and very dated all the way around. The carpet was heavily stained all over. When we opened our bedroom drapes, a Jeep had just pulled into the parking spot just above our room and it’s head-​lights were staring us in the eyes! Needless to say — the drapes were closed again.
It was not a pleasant place to be in — and just outside our door was not «just» the back of another building — but large plastic tubs of something were stored there! I did take a picture, but. .. you know, I can’t get to that right now — it honestly was unbelievable!
If I had not gotten sick when we arrived home (not a hotel issue!) — I would have contacted Hilton headquarters. This is NOT what we expect at a Hilton hotel of any sort.

The beds are super comfortable and the breakfast has a lot of really good options, both healthy and indulgent. We really enjoyed the pool area as well.
The bathrooms in the rooms are not so much bath’rooms’ as a toilet in a closet and a sink in the bedroom, but it works. Also, the fitness room is smaller than any other room and has absolutely zero ventilation.
A pretty nice hotel in a bit of a strange part of Tucson. On the bright side, it’s next to Target so if you forget your bathing suit or workout clothes, you can pick some up on the cheap!

Surprised at the negative reviews. I usually say at Hilton Tucson East but it was sold out. The rooms are fine, yes a little outdated but totally fine. If you are worried about the noise, request a room on the west side. Super quiet. The grounds are nice, location is great, and staff was awesome.

I booked this hotel using Hilton points based on the photos on the website and I did not think to look at the reviews before arriving. The outside of the hotel is very well taken care of with lots of beautiful cactus. The lobby is also very beautiful and well decorated. The front desk staff was very nice. They let us switch our room to a king size bed instead of a queen and gave us our choice of available rooms.
The Negatives:
While the outside property is well maintained, I can not say that for the inside of the rooms which is what really counts when staying at a hotel. Now before I continue, let me say that the one star reviews are a little outrageous. I have stayed at hotels all over the world from Marriott to motel 6 and this is a solid 3 – 3.5 star hotel. In fact this hotel would be perfect if the rooms were updated. Ok now for the room… The rooms all have this dark motel style red carpet and they still have popcorn ceiling from the 1970s! The bed was clean and comfortable (we inspected hotel impossible style, so trust me I know) but the rest of the room just seemed dingy. When we went to pull out one of the chairs at the table to sit on I noticed that the upholstery was full of stains. Not just one but many. The couch and armchair were also very worn. Bathroom was clean enough… better than train station but very small. Oh and one weird thing about the rooms is both ends of the rooms have curtains. You close a curtain in front of the main door to the room since its all windows. The balcony next to the bedroom is not closed off, its just one long hallway so if you want any type of privacy you keep your curtain closed all day meaning you have to use the lights inside instead of natural sunlight. I wish there would have been a more private area to relax in besides inside the actual room. Anyone from the rooms next to you could just stand and hang out in front of your room and look through the windows.
The Positives:
The pool area is very nice. Pool is heated and open until 10:30 I believe. The Jacuzzi is very big and almost like a small pool. It is clean and well maintained also. But the number one reason to stay here is for the free breakfast and drinks. They have a free breakfast with made to order omelets and plenty of other hot breakfast options. Being vegan I wasnt sure what my options would be. They had fresh fruit, grapefruit, pastries, bagels, homestyle potatoes (that taste like seasoned fries yum) and cereal. The only downside was the didnt offer soy milk but it was ok since they had plenty of yummy options. Surprisingly all the fruit was in season, ripe and sweet which was a plus. Now for the managers special. Every night they offer free drinks in the same pool house where breakfast is served. It was a nice set up. There are candles on the table and a fire in the center of the room. They had some good beer options like blue moon and dos equis. I was expecting bud light but I dont even think they had that! You can also have cocktails made as well as soft drinks. They have a few light snacks which was also unexpected and nice. We brought take out from BJs down the block though and enjoyed it with our free drinks and a few board games. It is a really nice option to have and really saved us on meals and drinks on our trip. The bartender was also really nice and was really funny. He let us have 2 drinks each when we went to get our second drink (2 drink max) because he was closing down.)
Overall I would say that the positives outweigh the negatives. Even though the rooms were dingy, I was only here for the gem shows so I didnt spend all that much time in the rooms. So for my purposes it was a very good stay. The free breakfast and beer wins out in this round. Although, with this being a hilton brand hotel I have no idea why it has not been renovated since I am sure they have millions of dollars that they could use to give their customers the best experience they can. The staff does the best they can with keeping this place clean and trying to make it a good experience. It is located on a street that has literally any food you could possibly want from Ethiopian to Chinese to Peruvian. Its a little farther from the freeway than some other hotels but thats nice because you avoid all the noise. I would stay here again next year for the gem fair!

An old hotel that has seen its better days. Realllllyyyyy could use an update.
Neighborhood is not bad but for some reason it feels real sketchy.
So the thing that set me off and will keep me from coming back was the $ 9.95 per day internet charge. Good news is I didn’t have to pay it. Bad news I had to work through 2 employees and one manager to get it comped. Basically had to point out to them what was more important… me staying and paying for 13 nights or them collecting ~$ 130 from me for internet. They saw the logic of my argument, but I should have never had to have made it.

Yes, the rooms are spacious. There is a large living room with a tv, microwave, mini refrigerator, and sink. The bedroom is also large. The sink and counter are in the bedroom, with a tiny room for the bathroom and shower.
The hotel is clearly run-​down, with furniture stained, carpeting questionable, and fixtures outdated. This is the kind of place where I have kept my flip flops on the entire time becaues I feel like it isn’t clean, and isn’t up to the standards of other Embassy Suites where I have stayed.
My room is on the second floor, which is essentially about 10 feet above the parking lot that is behind my bedroom (living room overlooks pool), which means ALL NIGHT I was hearing people park and lock the doors. I was also hearing the gate open and slam repeatedly. Obvioulsy, hotels are noiser than your own home in general, but this is excessive.
The toilet has been running all night, and the AC is very loud.
The front desk was welcoming and friendly, but not very knowledgeable. I asked for a few specific suggestions, and none were made.
Overall, with some cleaning and updating this could be a much better hotel. However, Embassy Suites has to know that offering a complimentary breakfast just doesn’ t make up for the overall dirty feel of the rooms.

This is an older hotel but it is pretty well maintained, it’s in a great location, it has a charming courtyard and pool area and an open bar (we got 2 free drinks each) and a nice heavy handed bartender.
It was just what we needed for a quick overnight getaway.
The rooms are spacious if a bit dated — a large living area, large bedroom and 1 small bathroom… the one area that could really use updating. In fairness, it is only the tub/​shower and toilet that are cramped. The sink/​counter combo is in the large bedroom area. There is also a wetbar in the living room area.
