RUN… I understand the concept of the old soda shop but this place leav es much to be desired. I went in on a Groupon deal that was pretty fair, but… NOWAY. Customer Service: To start the cook/owner/manager/hostess greeting us from behind the counter while mopping. There were two ladies at the counter that we later found out where the true hostess and cook. The waitress seems bored, bothered and told us she is looking for other work. Food Quality: It was edible. The cook basically completed our pulled pork order in under 4 minutes. No thought, no passion, no real care or pride. Atmosphere: it is reminiscent of an old soda shop — true. However it needs a lot of basic work, dusting, update old photos with frames and placement. Seems sad and pitiful. Ultimately, if you want to support a local business just for the sake of support, go ahead. As we did, if you really want to support give the owner your honest feedback and hope he listens.

The worst food I’ve ever had. Used a Groupon for The BBQ Plate. The meat was dry and tasted old. The baked beans were awful and the Brunswick stew was not a stew — it was a thick tasteless mess. Only 1 other table with 2 other people this evening and 2 workers. Will never go here again and warning others to stay away. $ 12 a plate without Groupon — insane! This place needs to be shut down.

I absolutely love everything on their menu… however I would love some fries and coke from a fountain. :) The BBQ and Brunswick stew are way better than any of the local bbq stands in Tucker. The Burgers are fresh and juicy. The ice cream and milkshakes are on point. If this place doesn’t receive 4 or 5 stars from the reviewers then they aren’t real foodies. If you are looking for an off the wall place that surprises you with each bite, then take a Saturday stroll over there and give their food a bite!!!

I had read the reviews about this place, which were not so good, but we were in the area and were searching for a Groupon for a quick lunch. They were available, so we decided to try it. Upon walking in, I realized that this was an establishment that was gasping for air. It was virtually empty and quiet, and it has very little«soda fountain» atmosphere. Hubby had the burger, potato chips, and vanilla shake. The burger was just okay — unseasoned meat, but the bun was toasted, and it came with lettuce, tomatoes, and onion. You add your own condiments. It’s kind of hard to mess up a burger, so it was okay. The restaurant does not serve french fries, so he missed these hot, crispy treats with his burger. As for the shake, it looked and tasted like plain vanilla ice cream that was mixed with a little milk and blended up thick. It was highly unimpressive, and we left half of it on the table. Being the adventurous type, I ventured out and had the BBQ pork plate — at a soda fountain. I should have known better. Everything on the plate had obviously been refrigerated and re-heated to room temperature — not hot. The pork was so-so, the cole slaw was a heavy black pepper version and not good at all, the baked beans were old and not hot, and the Brunswick stew was inedible. All in all, the reviews were right. I don’t foresee us ever going back here. Note to the owners: you should put french fries on the menu. Perhaps at least people would stop by for fries and a shake since the food seems to be lacking.

Five stars for ambience and service, especially Sherquinn and her luminous smile, and eagerness to serve. The food is classic diner/soda fountain food, done well. That said, therein lies the drawback. It’s soda fountain food. I’ll be back!

I ate here today for lunch with my boyfriend for the first time. I ordered the chicken salad melt and he had one of the hotdogs with onions and cheese on top. Both lunch meals came with a bag of chips. My chicken salad melt was really good! My boyfriend thought the hotdog was just ok. We split a chocolate shake after our meal and it was excellent! The restaurant itself is a bit small, not very much seating. There’s also a lot of weird things hanging on the wall for that«Tucker diner feel» and the back of the restaurant seems to be very cluttered with a lot of junk out in the open. A lot of people came in and ordered ice cream and it was steady business during our time inside the restaurant. I’d come back again for another milkshake and to try the pimento cheese melt!

Ate lunch there on a Saturday at one of their outside tables. My wife had the cheeseburger; I had the barbecue plate; and, both of us had shakes. The huge burger was seared perfectly to a medium rare, juicy and tasty. The barbecue plate had a fairly large serving of lean pork slathered with sauce, a meat-filled Brunswick stew, coleslaw, baked beans, pickles and two wedges of rye bread. Although it was good, I wouldn’t mistake the BBQ for Fox brothers. Both my wife’s chocolate and my moose tracks shakes were very good! Although we placed our order at the counter, we chose to sit at one of the three outdoor tables because of the nice weather. Two different waitresses brought our orders to us. Service was friendly and attentive. We will be back in the future for both burgers and shakes.

I have no idea what place«Brad S.» is talking about. My kids and I go to Old Tucker Fountain all the time and love it! Not only is the food great but the service is super friendly. When we walk in, they know us, chat with us, make us laugh and best of all, serve us great food and Coke Floats! If you want to take your family some place wholesome, fun and like a blast from the past, I definitely recommend this place. It’s one of our favorites!

Stopped by here passing through town, and I’m so happy we did! This place really hit the spot. Lively, family filled environment, or even a cute first date idea! Order a coke float, you won’t regret it. Such welcoming staff with great customer service! Wish there was one in Atlanta! I’ll be back soon!

I would like to start this off by saying that my wife and I want all Tucker businesses to succeed and I never post any reviews of anywhere but I was so dissatisfied I felt I needed to warn everyone. We had the ultimate worst possible experience at the newly re-opened old fountain in downtown Tucker. We decided to go Sunday for breakfast(I guess I should have take the sign at only one family was in there at the same time as us during peak breakfast time). After sitting down we were given menus(the entire meal the server barley said maybe 5 words to us). I ordered the All that –All day platter which came with 2 eggs, choice of meat and a choice of pancake home fries and grits. I asked for my eggs scrambled, with sausage and grits add cheese; Once my food came the eggs were beaten to death and over cooked, the sausage clearly came from a tube as I had one mini, one medium, and one large patty that was burnt, and the grits looked like soup with a slice of cheese just laying on the top(btw it’s an extra 1.25 for a slice of cheese). I immediately called the server over and told her I did not want the grits and explained that they should be thick and not a soup. She took it back to the counter where 5 of them had to discuss what was wrong with them, so I spoke up and told them they should not look like a bowl of hot water with uncooked grits and a piece of cheese just laying on top of that. They did ask if I wanted home fries or pancake instead of that which I replied home fries that I never saw and were never brought over to me. We decided to just leave and pay at the front, the cashier asked how our meal was and we let her know, and it was a disaster trying to get her to take off the grits that my wife ordered and turned back in as well. The owner was there the entire time saw the food was returned and did not come over to us or seemed bothered at all by a dissatisfied customer. I honestly wish this message could truly make everyone feel the pain we were feeling on Sunday with this experience. If i could give this place negative stars i would

It appears that the Fountain is under new management. We stopped in for lunch. They have a variety of hot dogs and sandwiches. They also provide breakfast all day Sat & Sun. The food was good and the staff pleasant. They seem to be getting the business organized, so be patient. If the cash register goes on the fritz or something goes kablooey I think that’s part of the fun in going to a new family business. I will be back to support the cause. They do need to crank up the exhaust hood over the grill. I haven’t noticed it so much during the week, but on weekends when a lot of bacon has been on the grill it gets kind of a smokey odor.

My best friend and I were in search of something sweet to eat and a cup of coffee on Saturday afternoon and went to downtown Tucker because I remembered Dee’s Cupcake shop. When we arrived we were sad to find out that the shop was now closed for business. As we prepared to get back in our car to head to a Starbucks we saw that The Fountain was open and decided to give it a try. I had a great cup of Community coffee and my friend decided to go all out with the fudge brownie sundae. She was not disappointed, it arrived with generous portion of ice cream and whip cream. The service was excellent and we were able to spend some time with Mike the owner who was very personable and inspired us to want to come back for one of their weekend breakfasts and music nights. Note: from my visit this is no longer the Old Tucker Fountain but rather called The Fountain, so it’s probably worth giving them a new try.

I’ve been a fan of this place for a while, especially as a local music venue(and for its milk shakes). The reason I was moved to review it today is that I stopped in for a snack before hitting the Farmers Market, and finally ordered one of their dogs. Really enjoyed it, and recommend it as a quick snack — especially before going next door to buy the healthy stuff :-)

Ate here when it first opened and it wasn’t all that good, but tried it again today. It’s worse. The barbecue sandwich had a smattering of heavily vinegared sauce that still somehow managed to be bland. The pork was dry, crumbly and tough. The whole experience was bad. It could be a goldmine but based on this recent experience, it has a long way to go.

Come for the intrigue, leave before the food gets to you. I ordered a meatloaf sandwich. I got a piece of reheated meatloaf with a slice of american cheese. The whole time I was eating the sandwich, the wife and I were treated to an infomercial on all the happenings at the place from the guy behind the counter. After choking down the overpriced food, the guy chased us down the street(we had to park at the end of the block) because I didn’t pay him correctly.(I had to punch in the total myself in the machine!) After I handed him the cash to make him go away, he had the audacity to try and bum a ride back to the restaurant. Single worst dining experience I have had in Tucker.

I was here last Sunday. How was it? It was OK. Is there room for improvement? Certainly. And it seems like they’re working on it. My understanding is that it is under new management so I was willing to give it a shot. I ordered the Breakfast All Day(I LOVE breakfast for lunch or supper, but not so much for breakfast). It came with two eggs, choice of bacon or sausage, potatoes or cheese grits. For whatever reason they gave me the grits and the potatoes, and both were pretty darn good. I’m not much of a grits person but I tried them and they were fine. Oh. I also ordered one banana buttermilk pancake and that sucker was pretty damn good, too. Since this isn’t a Corporation and it’s a ‘mom and pop’ type place I will likely go back to show support for local business. They do not have a lot of seating and what they have is more communal style, but that’s fine with me. They also have live music which is a plus in my book.

I had such high hopes for this place and was so, so disappointed when I finally had a chance to eat there this past week. They seem to only be open for lunch during the week and given that my husband, youngest daughter and I were all home last Friday, we decided to check this place out. When we walked in, there were 4 other customers and just one guy working. Given that he was serving, cooking, everything, it wasn’t surprising that there were several unbussed tables. The first disappointment was the coke in a can I received after we ordered drinks. It was only then that I noticed there is no actual fountain at this fountain-themed restaurant despite the requisite counter. For the food — I ordered the chicken salad on wheat, my husband chose the bbq and my daughter, a grilled cheese. Again, everything took longer than normal because of the lone guy and because of this, I was reluctant to ask for anything. My husband actually poured his own sweet tea refill. And sadly, the food was not worth the wait. My chicken salad has potential — lots of good sized pieces of chicken with celery — but it was a bit dry. It also came on crappy bread like nature’s own or something like that. My husband’s bbq was also dry. The sauce on top helped but you could still tell the meat was dry. The baked beans were only ok. Even my daughter’s grilled cheese was meh. It’s pretty hard to make a sub par grilled cheese IMO. We talked about trying an ice cream float but everything was taking so long that by the time we got our food and had finished eating, we just wanted to get out of there. The guy was really nice but I can’t tell if this place really wants to be a restaurant or not. They really could use a make over, like a Food Network make over, where they come in and not only improve the food but also the décor. I’m keeping my fingers crossed that this restaurant can make some improvements and become a local favorite.

«Eek! Methinks not.» That’s how Unilocal describes a one star rating. I was getting my guitar fixed next door so I strolled on in here. Crickets. No, not actual ones, just the sound of them. There wasn’t a soul in the place– No help, no customers. I left, walked around for 5 minutes, and came back. Sure enough the lady working here was on a bench out front. I sit down and I am the ONLY customer in the joint. I remained the only customer for the rest of my visit. The place revolves around an old soda fountain from the pharmacy that previously occupied this space. There’s a good bit of 50’s memorabilia on the walls and some local band promotion posters. They have a stage and host bluegrass/open mic nights almost every night I believe. I ordered a BBQ sandwich since a sign outside read something like, «Best BBQ Sandwich in Tucker.» You’d actually expect this statement to hold some water as smaller towns often do have some good southern eats. The sandwich was as plain-jane as they come. Very fatty, dry meat in bland sauce on a plain bun. Honestly, the chips were the best part of the meal. I got to enjoy all this while listening to Patsy Cline and her cronies. Maybe next time I’ll try the Cajun restaurant next door with the dancing alligator mascot out in the street…
