Great customer service this evening and friendly staff. The ice cream cake was delicious. Thank you

Stopped here on my way home from Stone Mountain. I was so excited to find a Carvel. We brought 2 quarts of ice cream, boy that was a mistake for the extra journey. The staff are nice, but the ice cream is not as good as I can remember in New York, It taste stale & unappetizing here. Don’t waste your money or time here. The place is not clean either. You’ll be better off with what inside of the supermarket.

Typical carvel ice cream, so it tastes delicious. Problem is, it closes at 8. Every day. Doesn’t really give time to grab some ice cream after a typical dinner time.

The products made here are top notch, mad from fresh, real ingredients the names of witch you can pronounce. She could have extra hidden stashes of other things that are perhaps better for some.

I normally would not give such a poor rating to a business, who’s product I’ve actually, never tried. But my girlfriend and I walked over to Carvel on Lavista Rd. after leaving the Red lobster right next door, when we found out they no longer served brownie sundaes.(it’s what she wanted for her birthday) We walked in the door and over to the ice cream display and noticed an older looking gentlemen, of East-Indian Ethnicity, in regular clothing who hadn’t noticed we’d come into the shop. He was making some squared shaped, whipped cream-looking, cake dessert. He literally had a ‘bare fist’ full of what looked to be oreo cookie crumbs; which he sprinkled generously over the cake dessert. Notice I said ‘bare fist.’ He had no gloves, no uniform, no name tag, nothing. For all we know he could have just walked in off of the street or from the nearest bathroom. Even if he was preparing his own dessert, which we did consider,(even though it looked way to big for a single serving) What about the rest of the customers who ask for Oreo toppings, that will likely be retrieved from that same large canister that he reached down into a storage bin to pull from. Unfortunately, we were totally turned off, and walked out after having been in the store under a full minute. On our way out the door a shorter, heavy set, Indian lady in uniform and gloves, called out to us ‘can we help you, would you like to try anything?’ She seemed most kind, but NOWAY were we eating there. Instead we drove all the way to brookhaven near chamblee to the Marbel Slab Ice cream place, and got what she wanted. It was way out of the way… but you can’t play games with sanitation, cleanliness, and hygiene. Cross contamination can make sick, and even kill people. Could be one isolated event, and normally I like giving people the benefit of the doubt; but as I ready these comments on here that describe an older ‘owner’ in the store… that guy fits the description. Better be sure he didn’t write the icing on your recent cake purchase with his finger tips… I’m sure he put his ‘special touch’ on it…

Filthy. We saw 2 roaches, one right on the counter. Don’t believe me? Check yourself-their health inspection score is an 80. Our second cake here and it is again the wrong ice cream. Not coming back.

My husband loves Carvel ice cream cakes and I was excited to find out that they had his favorite flavor in stock — Pistachio. DONOT let the man/owner write the message on top of the cake. I wish I would have done it myself at home. We had a good laugh over it, but it really was a shame how bad the writing was on top.

I love Carvel cakes but the guy that was working when I went did a sloppy job on writing on my cake. My 10 year old nephew could have done it better

Oh my goodness! I went there yesterday because I bought a groupon for ice cream cake. I love Carvel so I thought it would be fine. WRONG!!! I drove an hour and a half to get my husband an ice cream cake because I’m a good wife ;) and I got the worst service ever with the worst product ever. So NOT Carvel quality or customer service. FYI… after telling my mother-in-law the story, she told me you can get Carvel at Kroger now. When I got there(Tucker location), the cakes were in a cold freezer with frost on it, which I thought would be great for the ride home. I was so excited. Once I opened the case, I saw cracked icing(which means that the cakes have been sitting too long). I saw boxes closed with scotch tape(not very food sanitary). I saw off color icing as well(another indication of old cakes). I finally saw one that looked appropriate. I took it to the counter and asked for it to be written on. The man behind the counter started writing on it. OMG… it looked as if a first grader was writing it in a car going down a bumpy road. I almost wish I had taken a picture of this cake. The writing was crooked and the letters were jammed together. The«happy birthday» was curved in lower case letters and then my husband’s name was in all capitals. I was still in a good mood because I figured I’d have a story to tell about his 41st birthday. I get ready to pay and the man rings up 39.99 for the cake… HELLO! I’m not paying for a crooked, possibly stale cake that was supposed to be 27.99(I checked the internet prices before I drove out). The man tells me that that was the price. I started to tell him that the small sheet cake was 27.99 and I wasn’t paying 12.00 more for the cake. He called a woman on the phone who tried to explain to me that the box was old(YES, she admitted to me that the box was old and I was going to pay 39.99 for the wrong box). I don’t think so. I told the man it was not right to over charge me. I got the correct size(so say the woman and man) and told him not to write on it. He rang it up. He made me put my name and number on the back of the groupon(maybe so they could try to charge me for the old cake they wrote on???). OK…So now we’re at home trying to laugh at the situation, BUT the alternate cake is STALE!!! I don’t mean a little stale, I mean super stale. It tastes as if the cake has been frozen, thawed, refrozen, thawed, and then refrozed. It had an after taste like it had absorbed other odors from the freezer. I’m not driving back there. I tried to contact groupon to tell them that that establishment is a big fraud, but couldn’t comment on the groupon. I am soooo disappointed and mad. Even with the groupon, I paid 17.00 for a inedible cake, drove in traffic, and was treated like a criminal(because the establishment uses old boxes). BEWARE!!!

Delicious! The attendant was sweet. My partner, mother, and i sat in Carvel talking for nearly an hour and she didn’t seem to care in the least. I had a scoop of hot chocolate and a scoop of Pistachio. The hot chocolate was exactly as expected. Creamy and sweet with a waft of chocolate. The pistachio was not as expected. In fact it didn’t taste like pistachio in the least. But whatever it was, it was delicious and refreshing. A nice palate cleanser, if nothing else. We will definitely be back ;)

So I said i’d be back to try out their ice cream, as my last time saw me getting an ice cream cake, and i’m glad I did. I came and tried their junior cup of the pralines & cream, and man is it ever creamy. I can’t speak for the consistency of all the multiple flavors, but the icecream leaves a nice coat on your mouth that just drives the richness home. Also, take a look at the vanilla and see HOW creamy it is! They have a lot of toppings too, although I didn’t get any for my cup, and as always, you can get either a cup or cone. I like this store, wish they had yogurt(if they did, I didn’t see any) but this just may be my guilty pleasure from now on.

Hands-down, this is soft-serve at its smoothest, creamiest, best. The soft-serve chocolate is the best in existence. Carvel has come a long way since the 80’s, when good ol’ Tom Carvel would v/o his own commercials talking about«Cookie Puss» and«Fudgie The Whale.» Still, I wish these folks would really sharpen their marketing and franchise more effectively. This ice cream will give any competition a serious run for their money. And this particular location has been around for two decades(a rarity for any Atlanta food establishment). They’re doing something right. But don’t let’s talk business. Get a thick-shake. Go to check out the weekly specials.(I think Wednesday is BOGO Sundae.) Grab a flying saucer.(I hear Nabisco is putting their Oreo cookie around this ice cream now.) And need an ice-cream cake? Can you even count the ways this place will customize it for you? Make a departure from the menu. Get them to customize something for you. Like putting the soft-serve vanilla in a cup of coffee. Or pre-ordering a cake made with flavors other than vanilla and chocolate.

Worst customer service, do NOT patronize this place. My family went here for 20+ years, and after years of ice creams, carvel sandwiches and birthday cakes, they made a cake with the wrong flavors(for my grandmother’s 80th birthday, after refusing to help my 84-year-old grandfather when he came to order it because they were too busy to take a cake order) and instead of remaking it and admitting their mistake when I saved a slice to show them, they accused me of buying another cake from somewhere else in order to get a free one. It was Seinfeld-like absurd. I strongly recommend NOT going to this shop. There are some Bruster’s nearby.
