I am not a resident or local of the Truckee area but this is definitely a hidden gem. Made a day trip from the Bay Area with my siblings and cousins and I would happily go again. The ice rink was beautifully set and surrounded by a copious amount of snow! A site for sore eyes as a California citizen, being in a drought and the sierras not receiving much snow at all the past few years. The price was affordable, they have a snack shack, offer skate rentals and was not at all crowded like most all of the ski resort areas are.

This disc golf park is only barely second to that at Golden Gate Park in SF. It’s a short ride from Reno and well worth it. Very challenging because of the tree density. Nice tees, pretty well marked. Free of course. Love it here.

Truckee Donner Rec and Parks does a great job of providing venues for a variety of events: picnics, barbecues, weddings, concerts, softball, and community events. There are constant improvements to facilities and additions to events. There is a well-loved disc golf course, a picnic area that converts to an ice rink in the winter, a skateboard park, softball fields, and the front end of the Legacy Trail… a wonderful walk and bike trail along the Truckee River.

Peaceful and relaxing. Various activities to do. Its always a nice way to spend the day when not at the cabin, lake and a healthy change from downtown.

Got drunk in the woods. What can I say, I live a fabulous life. Make sure you bring nature friendly toilet paper if you camp out. Also — technically there aren’t supposed to be fires built here — as I’ve been told. Build a wigwam. Hahahaha.

Truckee has a little gem in its midst… and it’s this park. Frisbee golf course, live music, ball parks, skate park, a paved trail by the river, rodeo facility, farmer’s markets and public events. This little park has it all. —Truckee Wednesdays: Music in the park Lasts through August 26th. Shows are from 6:30 — 8 pm. For show list visit: (Bring chairs and warm clothing as it cools off the INSTANT the sun goes down.) —Truckee Championship Rodeo July 24th and 25th Arrive early for best parking. Parking is sh*t. That’s one reason this park is not 5 stars. —Farmer’s Markets Monday mornings until about 1 pm. —Baseball games Various schedules but often on weekend evenings.
