My fiancée and I grew up in Truckee and wanted to support a local business and asked Treat box if we could schedule a wedding cake tasting with them for our wedding. It was scheduled over the phone 5 days in advanced. We showed up for the tasting and they were clueless about the appointment. They found a small note with a stack of papers with our ‘appontment time’. Assuming it was a miscommunication, lost in translation, we rescheduled with one of the employees, who was very apologetic and prefessional. We just showed up for a rescheduled tasting, told them we had scheduled it. The employee had a blank stare and, again, knew nothing about the tasting. She had to call her boss who took the day off, to ask if he knew anything about it. As we were waiting, they brought out ONE small cake, a single flavor. The employee still had no clue as to anything about the situation. We didn’t even taste their cake, didn’t want to. It was apparent to us that their commincation between their employees and managers was poor, and they they obviously didn’t care about their customer service. Very dissatisfied and disappointed. They will no longer get my business or support.

We’ve been coming to the treat box for years and have always been pleased, until this visit. My entire family loves their eclairs. In recent years we have to order them ahead, as they do not offer them daily any more. My mother went to the treat box on Saturday and put in an order for 2 eclairs for pick up on Monday. When we arrived on Monday it was very crowded(holiday) and we waited about 10 minutes. We explained we were here to pick up our order. The women behind the counter rudely said, we don’t have an order, without even checking. She was ready to move on to the next customer but we continued to explain the situation. Finally, she said, I’ll go look. She came back with the order slip and said the girl who took the order was new and there’s no eclairs. She said, we’d need to order at least 24 hours ahead(which we had). We asked if we could put an order in for tomorrow. She told us we would need to order at least 6(which has never been the case in the past) and we’d need at least 24 hours notice but they couldn’t do it tomorrow. The woman was rude and had no time for our business. She was not the least bit apologetic. Typically if a business has made a mistake they apologize and try to make the situation right. She did none of these. Later that day my husband tried again. Trying to help 2 disappointed ladies. He asked if they had any eclairs. The man behind the counter said, yes they did. My husband then asked, the ones with whip cream filling?(The guy behind the counter was pointing to a chocolate bar) The man said, yes they have whip cream. My husband continued to talk about how great the eclairs were. My husband came back with a bag of what he was told was 2 eclairs. Well, they were just two chocolate bar donuts! The man behind the counter was nice, but he had no idea what he was selling! Sadly, we won’t be coming back here.

I have been eating cookies from here since I was about 6 years old! I moved to Truckee about a year ago and I am so extremely happy that I am so close to my favorite bakery in the world! My dad used to bring these white angel food chocolate chip cookies home from Truckee and I even tried re creating them when I was about 15 years old because we lived 4 hours away!(not possible!) Now that I live in Truckee I come here for other amazing things such as BLTs and doughnuts! I haven’t tried a breakfast burrito here yet but I have heard great things about them from my friends! My favorite cookie in the world is the angel food chocolate chip and they can only be found here and at some local gas stations! You must indulge yourself in some treats from the treat box whenever in Truckee!

Ordered a chicken pot pie. Confirmed 2x that the pie would be cooked. When I ordered it with Christy, I told her that I hate peas. She said good, because they don’t put peas in their pie. Needless to say, picked it up, it was frozen, so we couldn’t eat until late… and the pie was FULL of peas. Notice in picture there was also a hair mixed into the crust. That doesn’t really bother me, after all we love in Truckee. The most disappointing $ 17 spent for a tiny FROZEN pie filed with peas. I’ve eaten their breakfast burritos for years. .expensive…but pretty good. This was a major disappointment.

Tho from the outside, this place is a doughnut shop, with amazing pastries, the hidden gem are their breakfast burritos. The burrito is amazing especially if you get«the works». The bacon is sweet, the potatoes are nicely seasoned, and the grilled onions top off probably the best breakfast burrito I have ever had. Defiantly a can’t miss place, for a quick breakfast on the run.

Donuts are great, so are cinnamon rolls and cookies. Have had multiple birthday cakes for family and friends that have really been good and also their fruit pies. Worth it is their hamburgers and they usually have place to sit when the town is busy with lots of tourists. Just a good local place, always have found them friendly.

This place is great. I don’t understand some of the reviews. Breakfast Burritos are great! Donuts are pretty good too. And from what I have seen most people there are always friendly!

It’s okay, not great. If you like donuts, this might be the place for you. I was looking for a fruit tart and thought this bakery might have it, but it more just a donut shop, with some cakes, pies, and cookies as a little sideline. We had two Apple pastries, one with crispy crust and the other softer, covered in powdered sugar. They were good, not great. Nothing to swoon over. No need to come back here for us. We are enjoying four days up here, trying to snowshoe before all the snow melts! We were able to go down to the Euro valley and no one else was down there, except two Coyotes! We also hiked the Tahoe rim trail, and it was so warm, we wore shorts and hiking shoes.

Decided to give this place a try for some morning donuts, well lets just say these donuts are worst then royal jelly donuts in the bay area, went at 7am, dontus tasted old and like sitting there, not fresh at all, got a bearclaw wasn’t great, got a Applefridder that was just dry bread with glaze.. and way to expensive, don’t waste your time coming here, and staff doesn’t even say good morning just Stares at you. … maybe was just racism who knows.

I ordered a vegetarian sandwich here. The menu said it included 2 cheeses and veggies. Sounds good. Sure, I’ll try it. The cheeses were Kraft singles — yellow-orange and white. That’s not even real cheese. So disgusting. I was at the other end of Donner Lake when I opened it. So upset, but it wasn’t worth driving back.

Everything here has always been great, but we’ve made it a point to buy the worlds greatest(and possibly biggest) Bear Claws whenever we’re here. The quality of the ingredients, the texture, taste, they’re just THEBEST you’ll ever have. They’re 5 hours from our home, so we can’t get them frequently, but that may be good news for our waistlines. The place is hidden behind 7 – 11 in Truckee, but worth finding. The sandwiches are memorable too. Love the«angel food cookies» for that«sugar fix» if you can tolerate the extra carbs. You just can’t go wrong, but plan to arrive early in the day so you won’t be disappointed with a «sold out» response on the Bear Claws! Noticing some reviewers have commented on the décor(old and blah). While that’s true, you’re not here to eat the wallpaper or take vacation photos. Buy your goodies and go outside and look at the beautiful views around Truckee, smell the fresh trees in the forest, and enjoy your fresh baked goods!

I live in Squaw and have been here a few times now. Last time I went there, the older lady that works the counter acted like we were an extreme burden on her which made me not even want to pay for the over priced sandwich and fruit smoothie I ordered. Today I went there with some friends after we saw that Wild Cherries was packed and the service at TB was terrible with a completely different staff. A young guy was working the counter and messed up my breakfast sandwich order. It then took an extra 20 minutes to wait on a fixed order. By the time it came out, all of my friends were done eating and we were late so we had to leave. This place is dirty, unorganized & not worth the price. The only thing that saved it was that the girl who fixed my order apologized. Some people I know like this place but all of my experiences have been terrible.

My family has been going to the Treat Box for years. Front counter service is hit or miss but the baker does amazing birthday cakes. I can go in with any idea or drawing and they do not disappoint. We use the Treat Box mostly for birthday cakes and the occasional donut so can’t speak for their food. Wish they would offer more cake, frosting and filling flavors.
