A) Service was great… Cooper is sick. «I’m happy you’re stoked» may have been the best response in server history. B) Recommendations from the staff were on point. Calamari is incredible. Beer selection muy bueno. Pizza is simple but delicious(Cooper and I would recommend the Rotisserie Chicken). C) Ambiance was solid. They gave us a booth even when we probably didn’t need it. D) Quick throwback to the calamari… OMG, the sweet Thai sauce… mind blown. E) Dessert — AYFKMC? We asked for a surprise and brings out the most absurd tiramisu. I’m not kidding. Order this. Order two. Great work all around. Hope to be back sometime soon.

Had lunch here– tried the rotisserie chicken pizza, the pizza was so dry and it had so much flour on it– so hard to eat. My husband had the meat pizza– he liked it. Service was very bad– we showed up at 11:45, asked to sit at a booth– there was 4 of us, we were denied by the female bartender because she said there may be a party of five that would need that table, the place was empty later as we left a party of three was seated in the booth and the other two were empty, really? We ordered drinks about half way in and weren’t given them until our meals were over and our table was cleared. We will not be trying this place again. Pizza knots were great

Fun vibe… Good food We visited the place last Saturday night around 630pm. The place was packed with locals. They had a young band playing there and most of the restaurant was filled with their friends and family .(not complaining … Loved the vibe) We ordered the margarita and the roasted chicken pizza … Both tasted great … The food took about 25 — 30 mins till it was served(I expected the service to be slow based on reviews … Plus there live band was great… so I guess wasn’t that upset with the delay) However the pizzas should have been hot! It felt like it was left out for a while before being served. We didn’t want to wait any longer so just enjoyed it either way. We had the tiramisu … Was tasty(free dessert option with a Unilocal check in) Later when I went pass the kitchen I noticed they had about 2 – 3 ready pizzas, paninis and other food lying there for pick up. This explained my warm and not hot pizzas . With faster service and hotter food… This place would be a gem !

Service: 5 stars Food: 4 stars Ambience: 4 stars Price/Value: 4 stars Very good ingredients for a very affordable price in a resort area. Great service and nice décor. Half of some small plates, $ 4 cocktails and $ 1 off draft beers during happy hour. We had a great early Friday night dinner. Great service!

We came because of the Unilocal reviews and were not disappointed. The pizza is excellent! It truly is Italian style, if you have been fortunate enough to have traveled to that wonderful country. Given that this is their busy season, having more servers on staff would be better, but our server was great. The specialty cocktails are different. I had something different in mind when I ordered the Slumberjack — couldn’t taste the DiSaranno and when it didn’t come with the garnish described I even questioned the bartender regarding whether she gave me the right drink. I NEVER do that, but I consider it my own fault. Husband ordered the Mmm Mmm Mmm and liked it. He’d order it again. The manager/owner was terrific. Treated us absolutely like VIPs.

This pizza was SO delicious. We got the meat lovers and the chicken they were really inexpensive $ 15 each for about a medium size. They tasted so fresh and flavorful. I was really impressed. The garlic knots were a bit lacking they were thin and a light on flavor. The kale Caesar salad was tasty. And OMG the chai whiskey cocktail was SO good. It is made with a chai infused simply syrup I believe and the spice really compliments the whiskey. It seriously hit the spot. Very well balanced. The overall look and vibe of the place is great. Fresh/modern/chic. This is a great addition to downtown Truckee and we will definitely be back. They have live music too!

Excellent pizza and beer special for lunch. Till 3pm Mon-Friday. $ 10. 2 topping individual pizza. Great Porter. The pizza is Italy style with sliced Mozzarella instead of shredded .not a ton of cheese so ask for extra cheese if you are looking for American style pizza. Pepperoni is large sliced and very high quality. Fresh mushrooms also very good as is the pizza sauce. They have sone interesting Sandwiches, including a roasted chicken. Salads are big enough for two. No coke. This place is part of the Pepsi generation. Be warned.

This would have been a four star rating, if it were not for the panini sandwich, which was more bread than anything else. The pepperoni pizza however, was great! I asked for a thin crispy crust and I got exactly what I wanted. Kind of cool also cause that they use mozzarella cheese balls instead of shredded mozzarella on the pizza. If you are in the mood for pizza, this is a great place to be!

Staying in Squaw Valley for the weekend and already eaten in Tahoe City twice so we decided to check out downtown Truckee. We were going to try the Italian restaurant down about a block or so but they were booked so we decided to give Pizza Bar a try. Very modern, sleek look. We walked in and were greeted very quickly. Our server was Devin and he was great– really attentive and made sure we didn’t need anything. We ordered the Kale Caesar to share– Devin made sure to tell us the salads are big. Our eldest son ordered the pizza balls. We ordered a half n’ half Margherita and Gumbas pizza. We ordered a goldfish shaped pizza for our little one with cheese, pepperoni and mushrooms. I had a double brown ale from Mammoth Brewing. Hubby got a Stone brew. They have a nice selection of beers on tap– no Anchor, but that’s ok. The Cubs-Mets game was on so we had some entertainment besides our family conversation. The food was really good. The Kale Caesar was good– I think if they macerated the kale just a little to soften it up the salad would be amazing. The pizza balls were very good!- according to my son and hubby. The pizza was good. Crust had a nice bite to it. Some char would have been nice– it’d have that added dimension of flavor. The spicy sausage was delicious. The kids’ goldfish pizza was huge!- what a deal! Our little one ate the flipper and part of the head and there was still ¾ of the«fish» left. We were expecting the«fish» to be half that size. Great value there! We were stuffed and very happy that we had ended up here for dinner. Pretty cool that Truckee has a place like this. Service was fantastic and the food and beverages were solid. Thanks!

wow, what a fantastic experience. 14 beers on draft and a eggplant panini with football on. Hells yes I’ll be coming back for more. They have a list of shows going on Thursday nights so I’ll be hitting those up for sure.

Made a stop in Truckee in the evening on our way to Reno. This place looked open and pizza sounded good, figured why not! We were greeted and seated as soon as we walked in by a friendly guy. The décor and feel of this place is very simple yet modern. I liked it! I did not know they were closing in 5 minutes until I checked on here and saw their hours. We apologized to them for stepping in last minute, feeling like jerks that we may have made their work night longer. The guy that seemed to be running the place told us not to have a single worry, and they were happy to serve us. We thank you! Our server was great, personable and attentive. Now to the food… It was great! House salad was so tasty with the dressing that it was served in and our pizza was awesome too! Pork, pineapple, peppers AND cheese tasted like heaven. We will be back on our next trip!

I am stingy with 5 star reviews but Pizza Bar deserves it. There is precious little quality casual dining in Truckee. Mostly places come and places go. As for pizza, this is a freakin’ wasteland. Thick, chewy, sodden, overladen with toppings is the norm. Ick. As it happens, I was jonesing for pizza so I got one from Village Pizzeria. Nasty bit of work. Basically what I imagine a supermarket rising crust pizza would be like. If this makes me a pizza snob, so be it. In fact, I spent a week earlier in July in Rome(Italy, not NY) so if anything my snobbery was higher than normal. Would Pizza Bar rate 5 stars in Rome or Napoli? Of course not. But for Truckee it was nothing short of a freaking miracle. Making a Napoli style pie isn’t all that difficult. You just need a good oven, decent ingredients, and a god damned clue as to what a pizza is supposed to be. Also, very nice bar area and outdoor seating. good build out. First time at any joint claiming to make proper pies I always order a margherita as it is so simple it leaves nowhere to hide. Same as I order a corned beef on rye with a touch of mustard at any deli. This was a very good, if not excellent margherita. They use the right flour, the right tomatoes, and their oven is quite good. They use a bit more basil than is traditional, but I prefer a bit more of the herb so I’m fine with that. The wife had a salad wrapped in cooked pizza dough which was a bit different than she imagined, but very tasty indeed and the pizza dough acted as a sort of pita wrap. I’d love to see more sandwiches made with this wrap — maybe a sort of Italian gyro? So 5 star for Truckee, no doubt. What keeps this from being a really great pizza(say, for example like at Delfina in SF?) 1: Crust is a bit too thick. When lifting a slice it stood perfectly erect(in part b/c I asked for the pie extra hot) but imo it should droop in the center. Maybe the shell was ¼th inch thick when it should have been 3⁄16th. A quibble but details matter. 2: The mozzarella was just«ok.» I imagine it is hard to source great cheese up here, but it was sort of bland. 3: The best Napoli pizzas have lovely blistered crusts ringing them. This was nicly brown but no char. 4: Odd though it may seem, the pie was not quite oily enough. Grease transmits flavor and creates great mouthfeel. This pie was a tad lean and maybe needed a spritz of really good olive oil. But that is it. They also have a great selection of beers on tap(many local.) OHRIGHT, I almost forgot. After dinner we went back to check out the oven and chatted with the cook. He was finishing a dish of Brussels sprouts with pancetta and we commented on how much we love that item and would have to try next time. He picked out a couple of choice bits and gave them to us on a plate. Very neighborly and truly, truly tasty. 100% gonna order next time, which may well be tomorrow! One last holier than though pissy comment. A guy at the bar was going to order the meatball dish(popolo) but was put off when he learned that it didn’t’ come with pasta. News item — the idea of meatballs and spaghettis is literally funny to Italians. You have meatballs. You have spaghetti. You don’t eat them as one dish. So bravo for the restaurant in doing the authentic, if unobvious thing. It demonstrates commitment. So you will know I’m not a shill, the same owners operate Marg’s Taco Grill next door. I’ve reviewed it separately here on Unilocal — spoiler alert…3 stars.

Creative menu, with several types of different pizzas. They’re thin Neapolitan style, so don’t expect thick crust or tons of conventional toppings. Laurie was our server and was awesome, with great recommendations on both pizzas and beers. They have a good and deep selection of beers from several places. The Mediterranean salad was especially tasty, and served in an oversized pita. Yum!

Stopped for lunch on the drive to Tahoe and were very happy with our choice! Salads and sandwiches are big enough to split among 2 or even 3 depending how hungry you are. I shared an arugula and roasted beet salad and roasted eggplant panini with my Mom and husband. Salad was perfectly dressed with a homemade vinaigrette. Our teens devoured their Godfather panini and Mediterranean sandwiches themselves. The Mediterranean was a Greek like salad served folded in a fresh baked pizza crust, which we watched them bake in their pizza oven. Prices are reasonable for the size of portions. Pizzas looked great but we didn’t try.

Great pie period. The best my bride and I have had in recent memory. We ordered a very flavorful meat lovers that was not greasy like most all meat pizzas. Dessert was the not-so-cheesecake. Just going to keep it simple since it’s so unique. Try it. Industrial environment with modern bass-y beats, maybe a little loud for some, but we didn’t mind.

Southwest Panini… Gumba Pizza… Outside dinning… great service with personality… Truckee could become a second home for us… Especially with eateries like this! The panini was exceptional… Jesse had the the Gumba pizza with spicy sausage, mozzarella, bacon and tomatoes… I managed to get one bite and it was great. Thin crust just like I had in Rome… Come to find out they have one of 6 true Italian pizza stone ovens in the country! Way to go guys! Exceptional …you shouldn’t be disappointed with quality of service, excellence of food and overall cost!

Needed to grab some lunch before I headed back to Sacramento and was strolling down the main road and saw the«Pizza Bar» sign. Um my two favorite things. Pizza. And a Bar. Yes please. Immediately I was greeted and welcomed. There were 6 people at the bar and I grabbed a seat at the end. The bartender, Antonio, came over and told me his favorite things on the menu which was awesome. I went with his favorite pizza– the Rustic. He explained about the organic flour which is as awesome to hear because I had no idea. And he also let me know about the stone stove. The pizza was yummmmmmy. Definitely worth the stop. I’ll definitely be back to try all the other yummy food. Their beer selection is spot on too! I love the décor and ambiance. Only thing is I would have a sign as to which door is pizza bar and which is the taco place. HINTPIZZABARISTHEDOORONTHELEFT. You’ll understand what I mean when you approach the restaurant. Keep it up guys! Great work!

I luckily got a preview of the space before it opened but missed out during the grand opening festivities. Came back a couple of week later to find them operational. I heard on a crazy day their place next door can do 500 covers. That’s insane. I think they said they could do high numbers here too. I guess pizza is fast and efficient enough, maybe not on the taco level but still. got the brussel sprouts, meatballs, meat lovers pizza, and the milano. All solid flavors but I think the cooking is not quite consistent yet. They’ve only been open for a few weeks so I think the temperament of the oven still needs to be dialed in. Pizza crusts need that nice char as does some of the other things like the brussels. Hope they get their stuff together and the flavors will shine even more.
