had the soft turkey one, they were out of elk or bison unfortunately… next time hopefully

Third time’s the charm. Everytime I pass through Truckee I try to get in this place. Finnaaaaallly the planets aligned and I was there while it was opened, and i have to say, I feel blessed. This place has some AWESOME jerky, and I kind of consider myself a amateur connoisseur. They had nearly every type of jerky I could think of, even salmon jerky! Don’t know what you like? That’s ok, there’s samples of everything. I’m completely blanking on the name, but there’s a spicy jerky that I can’t eat a whole piece of at a time without sweating, and I’m latin! I definitely recommend the gold bag jerky over the clear bags. Everything was good, but these were just so much better. Final tip, they have surprisingly good brittle as well. Snag a bag of that goodness. That was the good. The bad? Well the guy we met was really friendly, but… just a little off… He kept telling us about how the spirits talked to him and told him that his cousin was being kidnapped but the spicy jerky could drive them away. Just a little spooky. I do wish this place was closer, but I’d proably spend way too much. I know they have another location in Carson City, and the clerk said they’re planning to open one in Hollywood, so maybe I can buy it easier there. Good good stuff though.

Seriously best jerky I’ve had! I am addicted… The clear bag slab jerky is very different from their other choices. I would not recommend it. I love their gold bag jerky. The Mild Jalapeño flavor blows my mind. Like I said, totally addicted! It is a very tender steak jerky full of flavor. If you love juicy, tender pieces of jerky with lots of flavor then Jerky Junction Gold Bag is a must. You can also order from their website. They are located in Carson City, NV

I love this place! Jerky Junction is in a cute little train car that’s nestled in the Zano’s parking lot. As expected, they sell pretty much just jerky. And it’s delicious. There are multiple different guys who work here depending on when you come, but all are pretty friendly. If you engage them in conversation about the jerky, oftentimes they’ll offer you some free samples to help you make your decision. The jerky is expensive, but it’s worth it. I personally would not stray far from Jerky Junction’s own brand of jerky(they sell a few other brands). The best of the beef jerkies, in my opinion, is the«Sweet & Spicy.» I find the«Real Western» to often be a bit dried out, which is no good. The«Teriyaki» is just a slightly less good version of the«Sweet & Spicy.» The salmon jerky is also very good. The regular kind is on the sweet side, and the spicy kind isn’t spicy so much as it is just less sweet. The buffalo, elk, and venison jerky are all worth a try as well. #1 fan of the buffalo and elk jerky, though I don’t like the venison jerky as much. One tip: the store hours are quite unusual, so you may have to make multiple trips there before they’re open. Or, if you have cell reception wherever you are, you can always call first – they seem to be pretty reliable about answering if they are there. Technically they are supposed to be closed Monday and Tuesday and stay open until 7 pm the rest of the week. In my experience however, they often stay open later(up until 9pm) on weekend nights when there are a lot of people up in Truckee/Tahoe. This past weekend, they were open until 9 Fri-Sun. We also tried to go to the junction yesterday(Monday) after seeing their open sign on from the street. When we walked up, a sign was posted in the window saying«Person at Zano’s.» When we went to Zano’s and asked about this, someone there was able to let us into the store and sell us jerky. Not sure exactly on the link between Zano’s and Jerky Junction, but it was cool they were technically open on Monday as well! Definitely a must go when you’re in Truckee!

The owner I funny and friendly. We bought the beef, turkey, pork, elk, venison and buffalo jerky. For every 3 bags you buy, you can get 50 cents off each bag. For every 6 bags you buy, you get $ 1 off each bag. The kids can climb up the steps and ring the train whistle. So take a photo, it’s pretty cool.

Best. Damn, Jerky. Ever. If all you’ve had was the crap you buy in grocery stores and gas stations, then you need to prepare yourself TOHAVEYOURMINDBLOWN by rock awesome beef jerkyness, My advice is not to bother with the smaller sizes and head right to the bulk section. Because 1. There is NEVER enough. And 2: I’m fairly confident that after the apocalypse. Jerky Junction beef jerky will become the next currency of the united states.

I was in Truckee with my friends on a snowboarding trip and on our way to grab some food at Dairy Queen, this little train car caught my eye as we were passing by. I FORCED the driver to stop by and I ended up leaving with a bag of elk jerky. The owner makes his own jerky but during our visit the only house jerky he had was the beef jerky and the elk jerky, everything else he bought from a close friend that makes jerky in Colorado I think he said. OMG, that elk jerky was sooooo good. Nicely peppered, easy to chew on, and made my mouth water with every bite. I wish I had bought more but I never got the chance to go back :( The owner was very pleasant to deal with. I wasn’t sure about what I wanted and he didn’t hesitate to hand out some samples for us to try. If your ever in the area, I suggest you stop by and try some of the house jerky.

Ever see the video of Charlie the Unicorn? If not check it out here: in said video, they are looking to go to Candy Mountain. When I saw this place I remembered tat video and in my mind I replaced it with Jerky Junction… Charleeeeee…let’s go to Jerky Junction!!! do you like the game meats? do you like smokey flavor? do you like chewing intense flavor? well Jerky Junction has Elk, Buffalo, Salmon, Ahi, Beef, etc etc. They’re all fairly tasty and many of the products are local to Truckee. They source from other parts of the state too, and many of those are also tasty. The place is in a small train car and they have tons of knick knacks. The guy working is super friendly and will let you sample as much as you really want. Totally cool place in Zano’s parking lot. Check it out! 4.3 stars

I’m in Truckee often, and I generally spend my time fishing, skiing, boating, cultivating my sunny disposition, and masking my disdain for all the flatlanders that have turned this wonderful town into Aspen Jr. While only 60% of my time is spent bitching about how much better it used to be up here, the rest is spent on the aforementioned activities, and stopping in at Jerky Junction. It’s in an old train car which used to be Truckee Brewing Co., in the same center as Zano’s on Donner Pass Rd. The shop is small but they manage to cram in every type of jerky you could want. I eat a real meat based diet, so I’m a real fan of jerky… and I don’t give this label to anything lightly… but this place has THEBEST jerky I have ever had the privilege of consuming. For real! It’s moist, has a good flavor, and they’ve got lots of varieties. Salmon, elk, beef, buffalo. I always stock up when I go in here so I can have enough for the week. They’ve got deals too, like 3 bags of their house brand for $ 15(I think). If you enjoy a good jerky like I enjoy a good jerky, go here to get it. Yes, cross the street from the 7 – 11 and pick up the good stuff… there’ll be a party in your mouth.

This place is a fantastic little find. The Jerky Junction is inside an authentic, historic train car(so when I say little, I mean little). The owners are friendly, and they have every kind of jerky imaginable. They also have jerky in every single flavor you could possibly want. As someone who was stuffed their face full of every type of jerky, from all over the country, I have to say that their beef jerky is the best I have ever eaten. HANDSDOWN. And it’s not expensive either, like the pre-packaged, overly-processed sh*t you buy from 7 – 11. It’s cruel and unusual that this place is only open on the weekends, because I can go through a bag of their jerky in a single car-ride down to SF from Truckee. Since my first visit, I have commanded my boyfriend bring their jerky down to me when he visits. Some of it is soft, tender, juicy… and some of it is thin and crunchy, like magical meat chips sent directly from the angels to me. What’s also great is that they have fresh meat for purchase as well, including bison and fish! It’s only about $ 7– 8 for a pound of bison, totally affordable, and only makes me want to come here more. I used to resent my boyfriend for locking me up in the middle of mountain nowhere on weekend visits, but the Jerky Junction has made the trip worthwhile. Seriously.
