You’re crossing the mountains in your crappy car with your sick dog in his cone of shame to visit your elderly mother for Thanksgiving. An accident on 80 traps you on the summit and you end up stranded in a snowstorm at a rest stop. It takes the nice tow truck driver 5 hours to find you, then he tows you and the shivering sick dog in his cone of shame to the Donner Gate Chevron to buy chains. You enter the toasty warm Donner Gate Chevron with the shivering sick dog in his cone of shame in your arms. CLERK #1: OUT! YOU: Excuse me? CLERK #1: No dogs! Get the dog out of here! YOU: It’s freezing out there, I just want to– CLERK #1: Then sit in your car with the heater on! (Clerk #1 storms out. You turn to Clerk #2 behind the counter.) YOU: I just need to buy some chains. CLERK #2:(A silent glare.) YOU: Do you sell chains? CLERK #2: Yeah. YOU: Do you install them? CLERK #2: No. YOU: Oh. Well I guess my friend can install them when he gets here in a few hours. CLERK #2: Nope. YOU: Sorry? CLERK #2: You can’t install chains here. YOU: So what you’re saying is, you’ll sell me chains, but no one is allowed to install them. CLERK #2: Yep. YOU: Do you have any suggestions about what I might do? CLERK #2: There’s a 76 down the road. YOU: I don’t think I can get my car there in this snow without chains. CLERK #2: You can walk. VOICEOVER: And a happy Thanksgiving to you too! Pricks.

This really is a five star gas station! The whole inside and outside is surprisingly clean! The service is very friendly and can help you with any questions you have! The store has a pretty good selection of everything and does have some Lake Tahoe souvenirs. They have baked goods from my favorite local bakery(the treat box), and other local things like jerky! I will recommend for people to stop here on their way in and out of Truckee for all their gas station needs!

Stopped there on 5⁄27 to get $ 20 Worth of gas. When I got home a few hours later I had two emails stating I had two charges on my card one for $ 20 and one for $ 101. I called my credit card company and they called the station and spoke to Dylan. He informed us that it wasn’t chevron that charged us that it was visa that did it and we needed to get a hold of visa and find out why they put a hold for $ 101 on top of the $ 20. I let him know that I’ve use this card since 2003 at many different gas stations everywhere I have never been charged a hold. The lady with my credit card company then called Visa and they informed us that they never put holds for merchants. When she tried to call back to talk to Dylan again up? Couldn’t hear us? Bad connection? I give up. Just be cautious if you’re traveling and getting gas here. For those on a limited or planned budget it could end up leaving you with quite a few hundred dollars in holds on your card and leave you with no spending money for gas until these ridiculous amount holds fall off.

Was looking for a dumping station for our RV after Burningman. They got one and they’re open 24⁄7 yay! The gas price is pricey just like what everyone else has said.

Cool little stop on the way up to Northstar! Large easy to access parking lot and clean bathroom. They sell beer, candy, cigarettes, coffee, and all that other typical gas station stuff. What really made the difference here was that my friend went to purchase a cup of Joe for the ride home after a long day of boarding. As he went to pour himself some from the pot, the employees stopped him. They advised him that the pot had been out for a little while so was still hot but not fresh. They asked if he was willing to wait a few minutes so they could brew a fresh pot just for him. This was cool because it wasn’t like there was a crowd of people looking to get coffee. He was literally the only person who wanted it and they wanted to make sure he got a really fresh cup!
