I’ve been going there off and on for over 25 years now. I used to go to Famous Steak House @ 5-points near the Battle Monument, along w/The Shrimp Boat, but those were torn down decades ago. Traveling from Chicago where I currently reside, I always stop in and talk to Mary, who’s still cooking. I always order a 4 steak Club Steak(Philly Cheese Steak) and an Italian Hoagie. Of course, I let the Hoagie«marinate» overnight. :-) UPDATE ~ Owner JoJo and his longtime girlfriend Mary were arrested, along with the Trenton, NJ mayor MACK for bribery, and a host of other crimes, including dealing drugs from the back of their store. In other words ~ JoJo is NoMo

I think the only great thing about this sandwich was the roll. I was really really hungry and the idea of the Porker sounded great, but I think I expected more for $ 7.85. One slice of bacon, one very thin slice of pepperoni and one piece of pork roll. Onions were cooked really good and the tomatoes were fresh. Unfortunately, as I was just about done, I found very tiny black pieces of some sort of plastic material. Almost like the edge of a plastic spatula when it gets worn. I went thru the rest of the sandwich and picked it all out. It’s not like I can go to Trenton and show them these odd additions to the sandwich and get a refund. I just chalk it up to a $ 10 loss and stay local when it comes to hot sandwiches! I do appreciate my friends bf for bringing this back to the Philly burbs for dinner.

Jo Jo’s is a take-out only, hole-in-the-wall place that makes a fine cheesteak sandwich; I’d say the best I’ve had outside of Philly. They’ve been in business since 1959, and there’s a reason why. First off, chances are that Jo Jo will be hanging out in the waiting area to say hi and chat while your order is being cooked up(assuming you haven’t called ahead for your order). He is old-school Trenton, all the way. The size of the steaks is determined by the number used on the sandwich — 1,2,3 or 4 steaks. All regular steak sandwiches come with or without onions, tomatoes and cheese. You can also get a ‘Trash Can’ steak, which has cheese, tomatoes, onions, pickles, peppers and mushrooms. Want to really give that Lipitor a run for its money? Go for the King Steak Porker — 4 steaks w/the Trash Can ingredients, but add bacon, pepperoni and pork roll. Holy angioplasty, Batman! There are also sausage sandwiches prepared the same way as the steaks; burgers are also available. The fries are one of my favorite types — crinkle style. Have them put the salt, pepper and ketchup on ‘em. Jo Jo’s is vintage, old-school Trenton; solid, blue collar cuisine that sticks to your ribs and is delicious to bring home and wash down with a cold beer or root beer. Trek down and dig in — and say hi to Jo Jo!
