Went in for lunch trying to find a good Chinese place in the area, this place was suggested by some co-workers. The place was clean, I called ahead so there wasn’t a wait, but it was empty inside, except for take-out orders. It’s nice that they offer an order online option and call ahead for take-out, especially for those who don’t have a long lunch break. So I got the Singapore Mei Fun which was also reccommended. It was smaller than where I usually get Mei Fun from, but it was still very good. The price was a little higher than what I usually pay, but again I was satidfied with the food. It was nice and spicy, just how I like it. Also got a Shrimp Egg roll, which had half of a shrimp in it… kinda disappointing. Overall it was decent. I’d give it 3.5 stars but that’s not an option. I’ll probably return if I’m in the mood for Chinese, unless I find a better place around here. But for now, this is the best Chinese I’ve found in the area near work.

This place is just horrible. I came back from a vacation and I was craving Chinese food, so I decided to give this place a try. When I called to place a delivery it was pretty much a one way conversation, with the person on the other answering very monotone. When the food came I was appalled, the guy walked away angry because I didn’t give him a tip(he was very rude so I decided not to tip) I ordered the lunch special beef and broccoli, the beef was slimy and pink, it was disgusting and the fried rice looked like Spanish yellow rice. I called back and told them I wanted a refund because the food was basically inedible. The manager told me he would give me a refund for the food I didn’t eat, and I was fine with that. Then he calls me back and tells me he can only give me store credit. I was angry because this manager obviously doesn’t know he’s doing. Then they came up to the food and the delivery guy started arguing with me as to why the food is being returned. I picked up the beef and flapped it around and told him that it is pink and slimy, then he got the food and left. I was confused as to why he didn’t give me anything for my store credit. I then had to call to figure out that it was in the system under my phone number . But overall awful service and awful food, don’t even want to use the money that I have for store credit.

Like others in the area, we noticed the bright signs and lighting on the outside of this restaurant while on the Brunswick Circle, but did not check them out at first. Tonight while looking for delivery, we found them on GrubHub and decided to try them out. The beef egg rolls were awesome. I’ll definitely get these again. The chicken with black bean sauce was also very good. The Singapore Mei Fun was the real hit though… just the right amount of spicy and flavor. All the veggies were fresh and had a great taste. The only downside? No fortune cookies. I was really surprised since they’re such a staple of chinese take-out, but we lived without them. The food was very enjoyable and is some of the better chinese food we’ve had in the area. We’ll order again. Great stuff!

Neither hubby and I were up for cooking tonight, so we decided to order from A Happy Family, which we’d seen from the Brunswick Circle(it’d hard to miss their sign at night) but had never had before. We were completely prepared for a mediocre meal, so boy were we surprised! We ordered beef sticks, Szechuan wontons, two beef egg rolls, an order of Singapore mei fun, and an order of sesame chicken. The restaurant offers free delivery on orders of $ 12 or more, so with a 15% tip, our total came to $ 40 – completely reasonable for the amount and quality of food we received. The beef sticks were delicious. Hubby says they’re the best he’s ever had, and I have to agree that they were definitely up there, although they were a little salty to me. The Szechuan wontons were spicy, but not overly so. I’m not a big spice fan, but even I enjoyed them. They were also cooked perfectly. The beef egg roll, to our surprise was a cheesesteak egg roll. The whole concept of a cheesesteak egg roll was foreign to me until I moved here, but I’ve had a few from the various Chinese restaurants in the area. This was was good, but could have used a little more cheese. Still, the filling was ample, and very, very tasty. The Singapore mei fun, while spicy, had great flavor, and the portion size was huge! It was loaded with chicken and vegetables, and will make a great lunch for my hubby tomorrow, since he couldn’t finish it. The sesame chicken was phenomenal. I was worried it wouldn’t be crispy by the time it got to us(a side effect of takeout, I’ve found), but I was pleasantly surprised to find it nice and crisp. The sauce was flavored nicely with hints of garlic, and it wasn’t overloaded with sesame seeds. I also enjoyed the steamed broccoli that came with it – it was steamed to perfection, with just the perfect amount of crunch. Once again, the portion size was huge, so I’ll be taking the leftovers to work for lunch tomorrow. A Happy Family has now taken the top spot on our list of favorite Chinese restaurants in the area. The fast delivery, quality of food, and politeness of the staff take this restaurant to the top tier.

A friend and I ordered from here about a week ago after seeing this location on Grub Hub. We never heard about it before, so we thought we’d give it a go. The food was delicious. I don’t have a big appetite but a home brewed iced tea, shrimp toast, and a very small container of shrimp and broccoli w/brown rice was more than enough. The shrimp was large, the meal was cooked thoroughly, and food-wise it was very good. However, my friend ordered her food before me and when she got the order at the door she came back saying the delivery man was very rude. Once mine arrived I couldn’t help but agree. I live on a nearby campus and for some reason Grub Hub didn’t submit my building location. Someone from the restaurant called to ask which one(nicely) and I apologized and said where I lived. The delivery guy however, decided that a couple minutes of scolding me about how I was wrong and how difficult I make things for my exact location going through was extremely unprofessional and would be enough to get me to stop ordering from this location. He did not come to the door and would not give me my food until he was done giving me crap for a computer glitch. Too bad I had already tipped. This driver didn’t deserve a penny. If you go here, maybe try takeout. They at least seem pleasant at the store.
