I stopped in today to pick up a gift for some friends. I had a glass of the reserve sparkling wine while I did. The service was spectacular, especially Liz. I will definitely go back for all my wine shopping needs. The view from the tasting room is also quite spectacular.

Very friendly and interesting wine servers. The wine menu is delicious with an option to please any palate. The view of the lake and Vineyard is beautiful. I wish there was outdoor seating as an option. Definitely recommend.

An interesting panel to try — weapon either end of the price range, strong in the middle. The select cab franc is far better than the basic — but the black is meh. Don’t apologize for trying and buying the above average late-harvest Riesling. The chard — newly introduced a week ago — is one of the most unusual ones I’ve ever tried; had to buy a couple to see how they develop. Oh — and the views are worth the stop and time spent over the sampler platter.

Awesome place! Took my girlfriend here for a little wine tasting before proposing to start off our romantic evening while we were in town visiting. As we drove along the eastern shore on the peninsula, we couldn’t help but notice the sleek, modern tasting room that is 2 Lads. Immediately were impressed with the facility upon entering. Very open feeling as the eastern wall is floor to ceiling windows exposing the east bay views. Truly an amazing view in the winter. We were just one of two couples in the tasting room when we first got there, but shortly after, more and more groups came in to enjoy some wine. We sampled almost every wine on the list and loved the 2013 Pinot Grigio and the Riesling. All wines were good, but those were our favorites! Staff was super friendly and helpful in explaining each wine as they poured and answered any questions we had. Definitely a place worth checking out for some good wine, good views, and good times!

My girlfriend and I visited four wineries on our trip up Old Mission Peninsula: Peninsula Cellars, Château Grand Traverse, Brys Estate and Two Lads. Peninsula Cellars was the most laid back. Château Grand Traverse had the best variety of wines. Brys Estate was our favorite tasting room and Two Lads had the best view. The view from Two Lads is jaw-dropping. Seriously, it’s worth the drive just to take a picture from their parking lot. It’s also cool that while you sip at their bar, you have a clear view down to the lake. Amazing. Two Lads is a modern-looking winery. I didn’t care for the cement floors and loud green paint after spending the day looking at wood and stone and brick at some of the other wineries. The server here was very knowledgable and went into great detail with every wine, explaining how the 2014 Polar Vortex had screwed up their harvest and they had to import juice from Washington State for some of their batches. I appreciated the honesty. He was the only guy at any of the four wineries to mention this. It was interesting to compare different years by variety. Some years were sweeter, some were drier. The wines here were just so-so and very expensive compared to the other peninsula wineries. This was the only winery we visited where we didn’t take home a bottle. But man, that view is killer…

Wines are good but very disappointed there is no wifi so poor rating. Can’t even upload pictures of the great scenery because of low phone signal

Great views, good wine, very eclectic vibe. It was very busy when we visited so they did tasting stations(6 for $ 5). The wait to buy wine bottles took a long time though, almost as long as the tasting itself.

Nicely organized. Enter through the garage and tasting stations with cheese and salted chocolate pairing. Tasting for $ 5 per person. Some good white wines in Michigan. The view is great and the tasting room has a more personal feel. Worth the trip to the top of this peninsula.

We just visited with another couple and had a great time. The modern tasting room is very attractive and the view of the east bay is killer. Our server was extremely friendly, attentive and informative. Due to climate and location, these wines are much more European in style. Great acidity, tannins somewhat subdued yet present. There is fruit, but it is not the big fruit typically found on the west coast. The reserve cab franc and two Pinot noir cuvees were excellent. I also prefer a less Oakey style of Chardonnay(which theirs was) and the Riesling also had bright acidity and favors. We have tasted wines all over, and 2 Lads is making great strides. I would go back in a heartbeat.

This is by far the best winery in the area! It has GORGEOUS views of the bay and the staff is very friendly! Every wine we sampled was delicious! A lot of restaurants in town have their wines on their menu. I wish that it had a outdoor area but the huge windows basically make you feel like your outside anyway

An awesome view awaits at this winery. The building itself along with the interior are also quite attractive. The staff was very nice and very helpful. The tastings are $ 5 for five tastes. That $ 5 is forgiven if you purchase 2 bottles of wine. I bought a bottle of 2014 Sparkling Riesling which was very good. In fact it was the first sparkling wine I really enjoyed. Overall a very positive experience. I would say a solid 4 stars. My only real negative was on their menu they have a cocktail called Bubbly, which has Sparkling Pinot Grigio and Lemonade. I ordered a half glass only to find out they didn’t have any Lemonade. Darn!

Somehow missed this on earlier Old Mission Peninsula wine trail trips, but a tip from oenophile Chef Piombo at Leelanau’s Homestead Resort(Nonna’s) sent me in search of a Michigan winery making respectable pinot noir. Yes. I was incredulous. I’ve found some distinguished late harvest rieslings and very sound dry rieslings(but not last two years) and mediocre(sugary sweet rieslings and cherry wine). Chef was right! Pinot was cherry forward, vanilla and toffee mid palate. Nice finish. Not sure I’d pop for a $ 44 bottle(rather spend my special occasion wine dollars on Orin Swift Prisoner wine at that price point or a good Santa Ynez Valley pinot). But, a triumph in these rugged growing conditions where winter dumps 200 inches of snow and frequent frigid temps.

Two years later and the wine and experience at Two Lads stills matches the spectacular view. The contemporary vibe, friendly staff and damn fine wines still make it the highlight experience of the Old Mission wine trail. A special guest appearance by a Reserve Cabernet Franc just made it that much better.

This was our first stop on our mini wine tour. The view was remarkable and the building was so cool. Very modern and new. The wine was good but they have limited options. It is $ 5 to taste five wines and the tastings are tiny — we’re talking an ounce or less. I really liked the ones I tasted, I bought two bottles but ultimately it seems a little overpriced. Definitely worth it to try the taste and see that view though!

Location amazing! Views of everything you could ever want in Michigan. The staff is super nice and knows a lot about their wine. They have the best cab franc in Michigan full body with smoke and oak and a finish that lingers. Most of their reds were full body and had a great nose on them. I did also enjoy their Chardonnay it was not buttery or oaky rather more dry and crisp. They do not use oak barrels for the Chardonnay which I tend to enjoy more of that crisp flavor than butter. Cannot wait to come back.

A stop on a personal wine tour. Wine was just ok because they didn’t have the type of wine we typically like. However the wines we tried were great. My boyfriend and I were the first and only ones here on a Thursday morning and had a wonderful time talking to the woman who just moved back from Napa. She took time to answer all things wine. The view is worth it on its own.

It’s in a modern looking building up on a hill, way out on the peninsula, and is worth it for the view. We weren’t thrilled with the wines however. They were fine, nothing was bad, but we preferred the other few tastings of the day. It’s by the park with the old lighthouse, nearly there, a few minutes away. I think they may have been having an off-year, too, so it’d be wroth it another year; we went because my friend had been before and was raving about a wine he’d tried there.

Meh. Just nothing special. Went here on a whim and it doesn’t have the rustic air some other places have in the area. It just seems like they are trying to be too much like California’s Napa Valley. I thought the wines were decent but way over priced. Like for reals? Average price was $ 30…pass. There are plenty other spots in this area worth stopping. This isn’t one. It has a spectacular view but that’s really all it has going for it.

The view is well worth the trip out. Start your wine tour here and wind your way back down the peninsula. I’m not the most knowledgeable about wines so I can’t comment on the grapes or the«legs» or things of that nature, but I can tell you what I like and don’t like and the white wine sampler was very good and I’d recommend that to a newbie, like myself.
