I read several of the negative reviews for this location but the positives outweigh the negatives. While I am not a foodie, I do enjoy quality dining. We visited the Omelette Shoppe on 6÷28÷16 for breakfast as a party of 3. Our orders were as follows: Biscuits and Gravy — 2 very soft but heavy biscuits, a large amount of hash browns, and 2 eggs which were ordered over medium. The flavors were great, though the potatoes were severely under-seasoned. The upside is the seasoning they have on the table which is like a Sriracha seasoning salt. That saved the potatoes. The gravy was rich and we’ll seasoned. It had a great sausage flavor. A side of bacon was ordered as crispy and it came out perfect. Sausage Gravy Omelette — a large omelette stuffed with sausage, cheese, and carmalized onions covered in sausage gravy. It had a side of hash browns and came with a toast choice. They have sourdough, wheat, rye, bagels, or english muffins. They also have two glazed toast options and you can even get pancakes. Our diner got pancakes. They were light and lightly vanilla in flavor. The omelette was perfectly cooked and very flavorful. New Mexican Omelette — this omelette came packed with avocado, barbacoa, black beans, cheese, green chiles, jalapeños, onions, salsa, and sour cream. It also came with a side of hashbrowns and choice of toast. Our diner chose English muffins. The omelette was light and perfectly cooked. The flavors were amazing and surprising. It was a spicy twist on a breakfast original. This place was packed full of patrons and the servers were very busy. Given that, our server, Mel, was extremely friendly and helpful in making our breakfast decisions. After one diner got a large chocolate milk, the bill was $ 38 and change. It’s a little pricy for an everyday breakfast but not terrible considering the location. The only real downside was the seasoning on the eggs and hashbrowns. Everything else was on point. I would definitely go back.

Best breakfast in all of TC. There will be a wait by 9:30am, just warning you. This location is ideal due to the parking availability, short walk from downtown, and strip mall shops surrounding the omelette shoppe. Always friendly waitresses who will gladly exchange incorrect orders. They always give you a free to go coffee if you ask at the end!

This place had good food but slow service. The staff was nice but frazzled and we didn’t get our waters until after we got our food. We had the Maryland omelet with cherry toast, a Belgian waffle, and the classic eggs Benedict. The food was great! The atmosphere is very homey and small town. I would recommend it if you have time to wait for your food.

One of my favorite breakfast stops in Traverse City! Their omelette’s are amazing. The french press tea is a cool feature. Only bummer is that there’s usually a long wait, but it is worth it!

We LOVE the one in Grand Rapids and thought we would go to this one while on vacation. These are two totally different restaurants, this one the carpets were alittle dirty, the interior is somewhat plain, Waitresses were complaining about each other in the kitchen which was by where our table was Had we not ate at the one in GR I wouldn’t have gone to another one in this chain. I had a coversation with chain supervisor and I WILLTRYAGAIN as they seem to care about their business and peoples experience. I Was assured problems will be adressed.

My husband, co-worker, and I just returned from lunch at The Omelette Shoppe. We will not be returning. We arrived just after 11:30 for our lunch break. We were seated quickly. We waited about 5 minutes before our waitress, Brandi, appeared to ask for our drink orders. We asked for three waters and my husband requested a milk(which showed on our bill at $ 3.75!!! That’s more than we pay for a GALLON.) After another ten minutes she appeared with our waters and milk, then took our orders. We ordered sandwiches. By 12:15, we hadn’t seen Brandi again and we needed to get going, but still no food. We flagged her down and said, «How much longer on our food? We are on our lunch breaks and need to get back to the office.» She nonchalantly said she would check… Another five minutes and she said they were finishing up the sandwiches. Apparently it takes 30 minutes to make three sandwiches??? When she finally brought our food I told her we needed boxes because we didn’t even have time to eat the food. So, here I am with a(now cold) boxed lunch. Needless to say, the service was absolutely horrible. I understand things happen in the kitchen, but Brandi didn’t refill our waters let alone keep us informed about our delayed food. An apology would have even helped, but fat chance for that. I’d avoid. Too bad…

Came here with my friend and his father after attending a political rally. This is a local favorite and my friend and I thought well it’s time to give it a try. It was a great experience. We both per recommendation ordered an omelette covered in gravy. It was filled to the brim with meat and cheese and hash browns. Really delicious, we both thoroughly enjoyed our Omelettes. I also had the cherry pecan toast– which was also delicious. My friends dad also said his Skillet was great. Our server was very attentive and on top of coffee and water refills– an essential when having breakfast. Just some slight negatives that prevent the 5 rating are the food took a little on the long side. I would have preferred an explanation of the coffee«flavor of the day» automatically as I didn’t see it until I ordered regular coffee. But am I being very nit picky with those things and the place is more like a 4.5 Overall great food and great service. Prices are just a touch higher than average but the food is substantially better than average. This local will be back!

Good stuff. Better than an average breakfast place. Everyone thinks the breakfast place they usually go to while on vacation is the best. This is one of those places. People have been going here for years will tell you it is the best breakfast place around. It really is pretty good. That French place in TC is much better than the Omelette Shoppe, but the Omelette Shoppe is better than average.

Perhaps Traverse City just doesn’t know how to make breakfast. After a disappointing breakfast at another restaurant yesterday, I decided to come here today — on the recommendation of a local in Leland! Well, the service was good, but that was about it. I KNOW I ordered well-done scrambled eggs — I had a whole discussion with the server about the previous day’s experience with wet eggs. When they came, however, they were over hard! But, since they were done to my liking, I kept them — although I did comment to the server that I had ordered them scrambled. The hash browns were greasy, heavy and probably previously frozen. And the pancakes were rubbery and tasteless. And none of it was particularly warm, which I don’t understand, because it didn’t take very long for me to be served. Perhaps making sure the hotel offers breakfast or carrying a box of cereal is a better option. At least the wifi worked.

Yes, I completely understand all the buzz about this cinnamon-roll situation… I don’t even like cinnamon roll situations but their cinnamon roll game was strong. Hot and soft not too sweet but totally sweet but not too sweet. And if I were to judge this establishment based solely on their Earl Grey I would give it five stars 20 times in a row. It came in a French press the tea was so beautiful that even if you are familiar with Teavana you haven’t seen anything like this. It tasted like lavender flowers and bergamot flowers and black tea flowers. If the meal began and ended with this cup of earl gray… I can’t… No more words! Now for the difficult part. I ordered eggs Benedict. I never order special or fancy spins on the eggs Benedict because every time I do I’m disappointed. So I started off ordering the classic eggs Benedict. My waitress recommended the crab cake Benedict. The earl gray was so good that I just went for it. The crab cakes were unappealing. Too salty, a strange texture for a crab cake. The hollandaise was forgettable… it should either be delightfully lemony or it should be rich and yolky. It was neither, and there was maybe a teaspoon worth on each mound. But forget about all of that… The yolks… of the eggs… were…cooked completely solid. The horror! Our waitress didn’t come by to ask our food was so I waited quite some time… My boyfriend ended up going to look for our waitress to let her know about the egg situation. By the time I got new eggs everyone was done with their meal. And the eggs were again… Cooked solid! Oh well… Maybe next year when I come back to traverse I’ll try the omelette shop again…

I love breakfast and this place did not disappoint. I had the cinnamon roll pancakes which were absolutely incredible. They were definitely heavy so I recommend splitting them with someone and getting eggs as well so you don’t give yourself diabetes for your first meal of the day. Coffee was pretty good too! I plan on coming back multiple times.

I’m usually pretty boring when it comes to breakfast/brunch choosings — maybe I’ll order a basic eggs, bacon, hashbrown dish or Eggs Benedict or lox & bagel… but here, I ordered an omelette because… well, you know. The Maryland omelette to be exact and it was AMAZING! Never have I ever gotten an omelette chock full of lump crab meat like that! It also had asparagus, wild mushrooms and a creamy cheese sauce in it too. Mmmm mmmmmmm! It was so delicious! You also got a choice of toast to go with your omelette and I fortunately opted for the glazed cherry pecan bread. Oh man, it was a Texas Toast-sized piece with what looked like cinnamon roll icing drizzled on the top! It tasted like French toast! This place is cute with a diner feel and the staff were super friendly! Hoping maybe I’ll be able to make my way back up here for another great meal!

So many of our friends raved and raved about this place, we couldn’t wait to try it while in Traverse City for our honeymoon. It was a huge mistake. My husband and I got up early, and got to the restaurant about an hour after they opened. Coffee was ok, had to go get creamer off of another table, but that doesn’t bother me. The menu had a lot of options, had a hard time deciding. The server was friendly. We placed our orders and waited anxiously. After about 15 minutes(which we couldn’t quite understand, with only 3 tables in the place) our omelettes arrived. The eggs were an odd color, and almost too perfectly formed. The filling seemed to just be set inside of this egg-pancake contraption. And it was COLD. I don’t mean, «sat under the heat lamps in the window» cold, but«this was pulled out of the refrigerator and put on your plate» cold. The server took our food back, and about 2 minutes later a new order arrived. Odd. It was not what we sent back, since we had each taken a bite, but there was no way a whole fresh order was cooked that quickly. Science wouldn’t allow it. The second order was lukewarm, but edible, so we ate part of our breakfast and got our check. We didn’t want to send it back a second time and be «those people» so we left it alone. $ 36 for breakfast and a huge disappointment later, we left, and will never return. Edit: after our experience, the manager reached out to us almost immediately. Due to his amazing customer service, we will be giving this restaurant another chance next time we are in the area.
