Despite the corny-ass spelling of a Filipino favorite, Loomp-Yah! gets five stars. I spotted the stand in Livermore’s Umigo(a go-kart track) parking lot Sunday afternoon. Their menu is simple, lumpia with dipping sauces, & if you’ve got five on it, you get 10 pieces. We tried: — half traditional Shanghai(ground pork) w/sweet & sour chili sauce: crispy bite-sized pieces of fried goodness. — half Buffalo Chicken w/ranch sauce: didn’t care for the ranch, but love that they rolled flavors from a bar-food favorite in lumpia wrapping. Brownie points for creativity!(They even make cheesecake in lumpia form. I’m gettin’ that next time!) [See pic for menu.] Finally, mobile Filipino food I can’t wait to have again! Yummy, cheap eats served by super friendly guys gets this Tracy, CA food stand FPX’s stamp of approval!

Freaking amazing! Just had the chance to try their delicious lumpias at the Tracy Dry Bean Festival and every single thing was delicious. They had quite a few flavors to choose from, and since I was with a group of 7 people, we decided to try everything on their menu. I love the concept of their food– taking a traditional Filipino dish and giving it a quirky, interesting twist. Sure, fusion’s been done before, but not in the form of a delectable, deep fried, crunchy roll of goodness. We have never seen any other kind of lumpia other than the traditional standards, so this caught our attention. We started with the Crab Puff lumpia and all of us were in awe of how good it was. Full of nice silky cream cheese and bits of crab with tons of flavor, all tucked neatly into a thin, crunchy lumpia wrapper. Dip it in a little of their Sweet Chili sauce and you have the perfect bite. We all literally cried«Oh my god!» when we had our first taste. On to the Oktoberfest. Pretty inventive, this little bite was. This crunchy nugget was filled with bratwurst and sauerkraut and served with a mustard dip. It was just like being at the ballpark! It was perfectly balanced, not too much brat and not too much kraut. Next was the Buffalo Chicken, and I do believe this was the group fave. It was seriously delicious. This lumpia was full of tender, flavorful chicken and nice crunchy bits of celery. There was a perfect amount of buffalo wing sauce, so it wasn’t too spicy. And the Ranch dip made it taste just like the bar food we have all come to know and love. Along with the savory, flavorful flavors, Loomp-Yah! offers sweet varietals as well. The Cheesecake lumpia was divine. Kind of off-beat and something you’d never expect to find in a lumpia, this flavor was simply delicious. Everything you love about cheesecake– the sweetness, creaminess, smoothness, and little hit of tartness– was present in this bite-sized roll. Already delicious on its own, dipping it in caramel sauce(chocolate was the other option) made it extra special. Finally, the Pumpkin Pie lumpia. I LOVE almost anything pumpkin, and I cannot say that I have ever had anything deep-fried with pumpkin in it. Needless to say, I was super eager to have this one. Man, was this amazing! It felt like Thanksgiving again; warm, cozy, and yummy, this lumpia put a huge smile on my face. I dipped it in caramel and it was just over the top delicious. SO. GOOD. I was really impressed with Loomp-Yah! Not only were they super creative with their concept of turning lumpia into something new, fun, and delicious, but they executed it well, too. These guys seemed very organized, had great customer service, and just looked like they were having fun. They were even handing out samples in front of their tent. You can taste the great quality of their products and it’s apparent how much they care about the food. Their prices were fair, as well: 10 pieces of lumpia and 1 dip for $ 5. I will definitely be on the lookout for Loomp-Yah! (We stopped by for more Cheesecake lumpia on our way out!)
