I truly wish I could give Dickeys a 5 star rating. The concept is simple and there is(or shouldn’t be) any confusion about the food you will be served. Unfortunately, Dickeys has not mastered, or even come close, the important concept of franchising control. My first trip to a Dickeys was heaven. He food was perfect, the place was clean and the staff were helpful and even fun. With youth sports year round in my family, I have now visited around 8 different locations in the last year and disappointedly could only say my first time was my best time. From Turlock to Folsom, each was weak and different. One place, Tracy I think, actually ran out of beef at 7pm Saturday! Another’s beef was so salty I could not finish it without several refills of ice tea. Another bathroom reminded me of an old gas station bathroom — I will not paint that picture. One place I had a salad that was a meal, another was more like a side with tiny scraps of meat. And the staff… anywhere from rude to playful to confused to lazy to barely competent. In all, a 3 star is the average of all the spots I have visited giving my first a 5 and others much much less. Please Mr Dickey, help your places get it right. I have not visited for months…

This went down hill fast. Had no food and was always a bit of a disaster after the management decided to move on. I have heard it is reopening. Hoping for better food and service!

I went to Dickey’s yesterday to get the mailer special of $ 1.00 pulled pork sliders. When we got there, we were told that the offer only applies if we order some other entre. Otherwise they are $ 2.00. There was no such qualification on the mailer. This seems like false advertising. Since we had driven all the way over there, we went ahead and ate, but it will be our last time in Dickey’s. Too bad because the food is pretty good.

This location does not honor national ad campaigns. I was glad to see a Dickies in Tracy. I have often gone to the one in Pleasanton. I guess I will continue to give the PTown location my business or I will seek out the other Tracy location down near Raley’s. I have been to the location I am reviewing several time. This location has always tweaked or added something to the National campaigns they have never honored an add I have brought in to them. The national ad that was texted to me today was offering unlimited pulled pork sliders for a dollar each to help you with you game parties. NOT the Tracy location off of Grant Line Rd. near Home Depot and Staples. You have to buy a platter to get a slider for a dollar. The girl there even told me today that they don’t honor the National campaigns! Well then I won’t honor them with my business. I consider this kind of business practice a bait and switch. Get you in the door and then try to sell you something else. Poor form. I can’t get away with that in my business and they should not be able to either. If you have other choices I would encourage you to exercise them.

Unbelievable! My husband and I go to Dickeys often when traveling. We have come to expect a good experience at dickey’s, but this location was the worst ever! We arrived at 5 pm. They were out of almost every item we tried to order… No ribs, no salad, no potatoes, no green beans no Coleslaw and no ice cream either. They really should have just closed the place. People coming in were just as frustrated as we were. It was a management/owner problem according to the employees waiting on us. They said there was a new owner and the owner had not ordered enough to supply the needs of the customers coming in. It was very disappointing. Too bad as it will likely cause us to think twice before trying this location again.

Not a big fan of this chain. At first I was very excited that they were opening a a BBQ joint in Tracy especially since there isn’t much out here. I took my little family of four and was very very very very disappointed. The BBQ is dry even with the sauce it just doesn’t give you the«smack» of real BBQ. The choice of sides is basically what you could get if you went to KFC. The only positive they get is the free ice cream otherwise I’d rather call my uncle to grill some real BBQ.

I’m not going to comment on the food because I was so distracted and floored by this establishment’s idea of what feeds 6 – 8 people. The sides we received could barely feed 2 people. The Caesar salad was brown and placed in a 6 oz. cup, the gravy was less than half filled and the coleslaw was 2⁄3 full. I’m not expecting much when we order from a fast food joint, but the portions are smaller than a crappy KFC individual meal. Sadly, we didn’t know what we had since we didn’t open the catered food bags until we got home. My mom promptly called to inquire to see if they forgot the additional sides, but was told by the answering employee that what we received was typical and the portions were«dense». LMAO! This was such a huge disappointment as we spent close to $ 100 for food that could ultimately serve 3 people. My dad’s surprise bday party turned into a discussion of how pathetic the portions were. At least the food was hot and ready when we picked it up and we did get 8 rolls: p

If I could give zero stars I would. Went in there this evening with another family and all our kids to have dinner. Stood waiting for someone to help us for over 20 minutes before giving up and leaving. There were no other people in line to order but us. The man behind the counter never even bothered to acknowledge our presence or tell us he would be with us shortly… nothing. Had other workers prepping food in the back instead of helping customers. Absolutely ridiculous. I will never set foot in there again even though my kids love the food there, horrible customer service is an understatement!

So many bad reviews, we had avoided going here for quite a while. Tonight, we wanted BBQ togo and I was lazy and this is right down the street. Its pricey and it shouldn’t feel like a waste of money. And it wasn’t. The food was good. Marinated chicken and sliced brisket with sides. It’s exactly what we were expecting and a great dinner. I don’t get the negative reviews. Maybe old management? Maybe bad employees at the time? We spent over $ 50 on a family meal(prob $ 30 more than a typical weekend spluge) and we will probably do it again soon.

Way too expensive for ribs! We were going to order the picnic item… It was almost 30 bucks and it was with a pound of ribs… Which was around 6 ribs! And they are small! Even if it came with a couple of sides… I would have starved! I went to the other establishment for ribs!

This place is usually really good. I always order the giant baker with NO meat. Adding the meat is just too much food for me. I was there this past weekend and asked for no meat and I still got bacon on my potato. What would normally not be a big deal, sucks really bad when you’re allergic to pork. The other thing that was weird was that my butter was solid. Rock hard cold. I’ve only had this issue one other time, so it’s not the worst service in the world, but it definitely makes me think twice when I’m deciding where to go to eat. Maybe some additional training would be helpful.

Really awful food-tasted freezer burnt and the service was sub par. We spent $ 45 for a family of 4 and it was so not worth it!

Review update: yet i havent tried this location yet after management change. But review is based upon the will and dedication from new ownership to change this place around. Also a few friends have visited and said it has done a complete turnaround on quality.

Ordered some ribs last night after a long day at work for take out. The sides were good but the ribs were completely inedible! I would rather have an option to order something else that was made the same day and fresh if that could have been suggested. Why would any business sell food so dried out and over cooked(warmed up over and over) the customer has to throw it away? Terrible way to do business, Dicky’s! I will not be going back since this has happened too many times…

Good Food, Bad Customer Service. The reason I keep going back to places is less about their product and more about the people. Walked in expecting to be greeted by one of the 3 people behind the counter. I was the only customer who hadn’t ordered and there were 2 tables seated. It looked as if the meat guy weighing a large order and communicating with the sides girl and the cashier. A couple minutes passed and finally the meat guy says«for here or to go?». Is that good customer service? The manager noticed me on my phone and asked if I needed anything. I gave her my feedback directly and suggested an open feedback loop and name tags for her associates so we as customers can give positive feedback to the right people and vice versa. The young associates behind the counter should be given CS training and also should have more fun at their job. Maybe a contest for employee of the month? That may help motivate them to give quality service to the community around them supporting the business and their jobs.

I’d actually like to review the food and overall experience separately, but here is a combined review: Food– Excellent. Ordered the Westerner sandwich. Lots of excellent meat, cheese and fresh onions. A+ But thats not the whole story I am standing in line and there are(3) people working. Guy cutting the meat, guy making sandwiches, and a cashier. Ok, makes sense. After I order, the guy making the sandwich stops and comes over to ring me up. Thats a little strange. He’s wearing gloves with grease/sauce all over them from making my sandwich. Now I am going to get greasy change(I can live with that) and he is going to have to put on new gloves to continue making my sandwich which will take extra time. He was super nice and polite, I think he was just trying to move the line along since the cashier stepped away. but wait… After he gives me my change(it was tough to get the change with those greasy gloves and it took awhile, he goes back to making my sandwich. What? after handling money? I’m no food inspector but mixing money and food is a no go. I am now debating whether to eat this sandwich at all after handling bills and a bunch of change. However, I am hungry so I try not to think about it. Back comes the cashier. He is wearing one glove. Not sure what that is about. Rather than come back to cashier… ing, he starts helping make the rest of my food. So now I have the coin and money filthy hand guy and the original cashier who probably handled 100 different sets of change today teaming up to finish my order. Both of these guys were very polite and werent the«i wish I was somewhere else» types you typically find at a sandwich shop. They need some serious training with basic food handling skills though. If this is how they work when the customer is watching… I can only imagine what goes on when they are preparing food without customers present. Incidentally the sandwich was excellent. Perhaps one of the 3000 types of bacteria found on a typical piece of US currency helped.

Went here today for lunch and it was good! I had the daily meal special which was a pulled pork sandwich with drink and two sides. The sandwich was delicious, the mac and cheese I got was yummy and the potato«casserole» was just ok. It was mashed potato with cheese and chives. I’d definitely come back here if I’m in the area. The restaurant appeared very clean and tidy. We were welcomed immediately upon entry of the store by the two team members up front. The manager even stopped by our table to check on us. Great service!

So, first things first… this is a fast food barbecue joint. That being said, I think many people have the wrong expectations of what Dickeys should be. Go in with the right expectations and you will find that this place is really good! My friend had told me about how he loves Dickey’s but after seeing all the bad reviews… I’ll admit, I was scared. Another friend of mine tried it recently and loved it as well, so today I gave it a shot. Glad I did — also a little bummed I waited so long. The restaurant was pretty slow when we visited for lunch. The dining room was immaculate(as it should be when it’s slow) and the staff was super friendly. All good things. My food was ready to go by the time I went to pay which was excellent. Thumbs up on cleanliness & service! I got the brisket with a side of Caesar salad and onion tanglers. Everything was delicious! My only gripe was that the onion tanglers were pretty greasy. Actually, they were so greasy that I couldn’t even finish them. Boo. Otherwise, the food was great. The biscuit was so much better than I expected and the Dickey’s original sauce was a great compliment to my chopped brisket. Side note: there was minimal fat on the brisket as well — thumbs up! As for they drinks, there is only one size — the big yellow cup, for $ 2.25. I’m not a fan of all that plastic being dumped on the regular but it’s reusable, microwave and dishwasher safe so be Green and reuse it, okay? Then there’s dessert… Free Ice Cream! All you can eat! Hollaaaa! The price point of the food is a little high in my opinion. For my husband, myself and my young child the total was $ 31. More than I thought I would be spending at a fast food place, but definitely cheaper than a meal at Texas Roadhouse or Famous Dave’s. Quicker too. I would definitely come back if I was having a BBQ craving! Especially if I wanted something quick and easy.
