The Crease Restaurant & Bar

Somebody put this place out of its misery already. It’s a dirty dive full of kids… often underage with fake IDs. It’s dead most nights of the week so if you’re looking for a quiet place to drink, this is where you’ll want to be. Wednesday nights are a hot mess. The bartenders actually seem decent, but they can’t make much money from the college girls who come in to drink all they can for $ 5 bucks. I don’t recommend this bar at all. There are plenty of better options surrounding it.

I’m writing this review after 3+ years of utter disgust with this place. If I could give this a half star or no stars at all, that would be ideal.
Just out of college, my boyfriend and I went here to check it out based on suggestions from coworkers. When we walked in, everyone just turned and stared. It was weird, but whatever — it was a long bar with a few people at the far end.
Anyway, we go up to the bartender, ordered a couple of drinks, and handed him our IDs — which were from NC and MS. He looked them over, then said he needed to scan them. That’s fine, we do look really young, but they are legit cards with holograms. So he goes to «scan» them and comes back saying that they won’t work and that they are fake. We tell him that they aren’t and we have multiple forms of proving that those are us – however, we don’t have like our passports or anything. We have credit cards, work IDs, etc.
He gets all testy with us and says we have to get out because we are liars. Makes a scene and kicks us out.
I know that a lot of Towson college students make fake IDs and that that’s been a problem, but he was really disrespectful and wouldn’t check for other forms of identification. We went next door to Lil’ Dicky’s where they also checked our IDs, and they said that the Crease was no good.
Ever since, I’ve been telling people not to go there because they staff horrible people and are just plain rude, and now, after reading the post below from Zach S. («I asked the bartender why they have so much racist stuff all over the bar. He said, «Because it’s funny.»), I stand by my decision to hate on this place.

What’s with all the racist Jim Crow memorabilia all over the bar? Cartoon pictures of black people with giant lips eating watermelon and stuff. This is Baltimore, we have a fairly large African American population. Its weird to see so much racist stuff proudly displayed. How have the other Unilocal reviews for the Crease not mentioned this?
I asked the bartender why they have so much racist stuff all over the bar. He said, «Because it’s funny.»
On an unrelated note, my sister in law had her purse stolen at the Crease once.

Not bad if you are looking to get your cheap drink on. I go there with the boy after dinner on a Friday or Saturday night when we do not feel like spending a lot of $$ but I don’t feel like going home yet. It is perfect for that.
There are lots of weekly specials. I think they serve food, but I would never touch it, well, if I were drunk enough off the cheap drinks, I might.
This place is good for cheap booze and the fact that I don’t have to be all done up to go in.

Another typical college town bar. The specials are pretty cool at this place though. Wednesday is ladies night, so it’s all you can drink for $ 5 for the ladies. The drinks are typical rail drinks. The bartenders are friendly. The place is packed with college chicks trying to get a cheap buzz on ladies night.
Thursday is $ 1.50 domestic bottles night (they better not change it!). It is pretty low-​key on Thursday night, which is nice considering the price.
Don’t expect superb drinks here, take it for what it is, a college town bar. The specials make it appeal to the local crowd.

Good music. Cheap drinks. I am just too old for the crowd. It is good for a quick run when you dont feel like getting dressed up to go out. I would not go here if I really wanted to party and meet like minded people.

Gross. dont waste your time eating here. The food is poor and the atmosphere is gray.

After all the years this place has been in business you would think it would be renovated at some point. Nahhhh. Only thing thats changed is the prices; Far too expensive for a dive like this.
I’ve been here a few times over the past 15 years and, after my last visit, it won’t ever happen again. Its a lame bar for all the new college students in the area who eventually stop going when they get tired of the stale chips and expensive drinks.

The Crease is a bar and restaurant serving the residents of Towson, as well as those from all over who crowd it practically every night of the week. The Crease features three full bars, each with a slightly different personality, all adorned in hardwoods. I’ve never tried the food, but I’m quite familiar with the late night scene. On some weeknights and definatly on weekends, the bar is crowded with mostly college-​aged people from nearby Towson University and Goucher College, as well as other neighboring institutions. There is usually a DJ and plenty of cheap booze to go around. Those who aren’t drinking can safely park behind the Crease in the metered lots for free after 9PM.
Open till 2AM nightly.
