If I could give 0 stars I would. Started throwing up about 5 hours after eating here and then was sick the entire week after. SOGROSS

The cooked Dynamite Roll, the Dragon Roll, and their sea weed salad is good. The Shrimp and Walnut Roll is my very favorite though. Cute little fishpond with koi swimming around and a wall fountain. Sweet place for a first date — will need to pay parking.

This place is decent to eat at but the place has a weird urine smell to it in certain locations. You can always tell the cleanliness of a restaurant by its bathrooms, and theirs are pretty bad! Do I dare say more…

Service sucks. Good rolls but bad service. I swear if it weren’t for the rolls I wouldn’t still be coming here 10+ years. Service is absolutely atrocious. Addictive rolls, though lol. Go figure. Like a bad, dysfunctional relationship.

If you love specialty rolls, don’t hesitate to try. This place is known for their never ending choices when it comes to specialty rolls. My personal favorites are Crunchy tuna Ocean breeze Crispy mango Bruce David Cooked dynamite The atmosphere is nice here however, with a beautiful interior, and two bars. Service is sometimes great, sometimes okay, but never something to complain about. That being said, if I’m in the mood for sashimi or Nigiri I’d rather go to yuraku in Germantown. Love that place. Add this to your sushi adventures!

The sushi is okay. The rolls are not well made. I’m surprised most of the rolls are cooked.

This is based on a carryout order that I made last week. The sushi was edible and had a decent fresh taste. However, I was very disappointed with how boring and cheap the«Sushi Special Platter» turned out to be. Billed as «40 pieces of assorted nigiri & maki sushi» for $ 58. This seemed like a decent deal until I discovered that those 40 pieces include 4 egg omelet nigiri, a tuna roll, a california roll, and a few other assorted pieces that you’d find in a grocery store sushi plate. The meal fit exactly with Unilocal’s description for two stars…“Meh. I’ve experienced better.”

I am not an expert on sushi, although I have been eating it for about 30 years. The menu here is full of unusual rolls, many of which I’ve never seen before. Lots of mayonaise and cream cheese in them. That was OK with us, after all it is a sushi restaurant in a college town and they have to play to the the crowd. My Fancy Lobster roll with lettuce, fried lobster and mayonaise was ok. But our service was poor. The waitress took a long time to take our order, and didn’t ask us if we wanted to order drinks. She saw when we were done but we had to flag down another server to get our check. Meh.

Bad service. The waiter is always rude and slow. Never refilled the water and tea or asked if food is good. My husband and I used to go sushi Hana all the time, their bad service is such a turn off. Also, we noticed that they only use one or two waiters to serve like 13 tables on Friday and Saturday nights.

I really wanted an early sushi lunch today. So after visiting the Apple store at the Towson Mall, I found Sushi Hana on Unilocal and saw that it opened at 11am. I got there a few minutes after 11am and the 2 sushi chefs were behind the sushi bar and preparing everything for the day, and a cute little Chinese(yes, could tell by her accent) woman was the hostess/waitress and dressed in a blue kimono. Charming tough! I ordered one sushi roll, but I wanted a hot lunch, so ultimately, I ordered on salmon roll($ 4.50) and the shrimp tempura lunch special. The lunch special came with a bowl of piping hot miso soup(which was bland, but tolerable) and a small house salad with a grated carrot/ginger dressing. I really did not enjoy the salad due to the house dressing, but the salad itself was a generous portion. I’m sure the house salad dressing is delicious to most people, but I’m getting over the flu and my taste buds are shot. I was just hungry for the meal itself! The salmon roll came out quickly. It was really filled with fresh salmon, which was great! But being a very picky sushi/Japanese-food connoisseur(so I’d like to think!) the sushi rice at this place was very overcooked. Then it was brought down even more by the over-vinegared texture. It tasted a bit soggy and strangely sweet. I did not enjoy the rice. However, I would be happy to try sashimi at this location and skip the rice. Then the shrimp tempura came out and it was HUGE. Very generous lunch portion! Unfortunately, there were only 3 small shrimp pieces, but there was a mountain of fresh and crunchy/crispy vegetables tempura-fried and served hot! I would recommend this place for the atmosphere, because service and the location itself was convenient and superb. The food had me wanting more, but I would go again and explore other options on their menu!

If I could give this restaurant a zero I would!!! My first experience here was glowing! I came in by myself before work for a quick bite to eat! I had the California roll and and the spider roll which was fantastic! The server was nice, had an enjoyable conversation with me, and I went on about my day! I even wrote a phenomenal review for the company! Now having such an enjoyable experience I invited two of my friends to have lunch with me here on Friday! I ranted and raved about how tasty and fresh the food was and how nice the server was! This is were it took a turn for the absolute worse! Mind you, I had the same server I had the first time!!! My friends and I came in and we were sat at a table that was in avery close proximity to the table sitting next to us! We asked if we could be moved to the upper level were no one was seated so that we could speak about work related things and would not have to listen to the conversation of the people sitting next to us. My server told me that the area was closed and she couldn’t move us anywhere else! Now, this is problem number one! I don’t care if the area was«closed» she could have sat us up there and walked her happy self up the steps and made her guests happy! She chose not to do that. So my friends and I moved on about our afternoon! My one girl friend ordered the miso soup and two different types of sushi, my other girl friend ordered the potstickers and two rolls of sushi. I ordered the same thing I had before the California roll and the spider roll. After waiting 30 minutes my friends potstickers arrived and so did my sushi! 10 min later my one friends sushi arrived and my other friend was still waiting on her order. We were sitting very close to the open kitchen and could see her sushi was sitting on the counter and was not being delivered. So we flagged down our server and asked where her food was! And we stated we saw her sushi sitting on the counter for the past 10 minutes! She snickered went and grabbed it and brought it out. When she finally delivered it my friend asked about her miso soup which was never delivered. Once again my server snickered and then went and brought out the soup after our main entrees arrived late and in an odd order. By the time the soup arrived my friend was already done her sushi and was full. She had said to the waitress, «I do not want it anymore.» The waitresses response was so unprofessional and rude I didn’t know what to say. She said to my friend, «you ordered it, this soup takes a while to make and we are not going to remove this from your bill.» I could not believe this woman said this to my friends! I asked to speak to her manager and she told me the manager is not here and won’t be here for the next couple of days. So being tactful I paid the bill and left. When I went home later that evening I called and spoke to a person who claimed to be the manager. They sincerely apologized to me and said that this is not how they do business and offered me a 30.00 credit to my dinner the next time I came in. I gladly accepted their offer and said maybe this was a fluke incident and I would give them another try. So the next time I came in was a week later with a colleague of mine and we were having a «business» luncheon. when I came in I saw the same waitress who I had the past two times and requested a different server. I had a very young Asian lady who(seemed) to understand. I explained to her what had happened and that we had a 30.00 credit towards our lunch and she said ok. She went into the back came out with a piece of paper the manager had wrote on and said you had the problem with the soup last time right? I confirmed that with her. This is where it gets even better! After my colleague and I ate our food we were presented with the check and nothing was credited to our bill. I then flagged this woman back over and questioned her about the credit. She then explained to me the manager wasn’t here and she felt that a 30.00 credit was too much to be given to us and then proceeded to tell me she took off the soup my friend had as a courtesy to me… I looked at this girl like she had three heads!!! Now being in front of my colleague I did not make a scene I simply paid for the bill yet again and left!!! Not only did the service team embarrass me In front of friends and co-workers, they made me feel extremely Un welcomed and I can honestly say I don’t care about the credit to the restaurant! Obviously it is not managed appropriately and I do not feel safe, comfortable or morally ok to return to this restaurant! No one who works in the service industry treats people in that manner!!! I will defer people from ever entering this establishment and will recommend the surrounding sushi places that are much more pleasant to dine at! If this is how they treat customers, they have absolutely no right indulging the restaurant industry!!! Please get your together! Towson can do a lot better

This place is a classic case of don’t judge a book by its cover. It looks rough on the outside. It was sooo busy inside and the food was so amazing. With all the business it has, you’d think they’d get to remodeling or something… but lemme tell you how this place actually chills. The atmosphere is totally zen. The pond with the fish is a nice touch. DONOTTOUCHTHEFISH. DONOTLETYOURCHILDRENTOUCHTHEFISH. IFYOUDO, YOU’RE A RUDEJUDY. BENICETOTHEPEOPLEWORKINGTHERE. PLEASE. THEYARENOTHINGBUTSWEET, HONESTPEOPLEANDTHEYDON’T NEEDYOUFUSSINGWITHTHEM. This honestly goes without saying, but still. We were greeted and seated in a timely manner. Our waitress was fast and got our drinks to us in the quickness despite people flooding in. Started off our dinner with a bottle of warm sake. Mmm~ Sake really gets you in a mood to enjoy endless rolls of seaweed, rice, and ocean-y goodness. After a few more cups, some laughs, a piña colada, and a Mai Tai, we were finally ready and warmed up(literally… the warmth in that drink seriously put hair on my chest) to tackle the menu. It’s pretty standard. They have a list of the not-so-expensive sushi on a white sheet of paper that you check off. There was a regular menu, a drink menu, and what they called a «cheat sheet» which explained what each roll consisted of. There was a mango roll that really caught my eye, but my youngest co-worker is a little iffy on things she’s not familiar with, so I stuck to savoury rolls instead. Had some deep fried tofu, miso soup, and salad as an appetizer. I could have lived off of that tofu. The batter was so crispy and golden. You know when you bite into something fried and bits of hot oil pop into your mouth? That happened and it was freaking magic. The bonito flakes were a lovely touch, too. Wish I could say the same about the accompanying sauce. The majority of it landed on my lap. ^_^’ Huhu~ Someone had too much sake! We had a lot of sushi. The more I ate, the more I regretted it because my stomach was about to explode, but I couldn’t stop. It was all so good. Here’s a list of the rolls we had: Maryland Salmon Crunchy Salmon Rainbow Crunchy Tuna Dragon Roll Shrimp Tempura My favourites were the crunchy salmon and dragon roll. Eel is too delicious. I couldn’t taste the ones with shrimp, but my co-workers kept shoveling the rolls into their mouths. Two of them had chicken teriyaki with rice and they ate all of it on top of the sushi. We finished off our night with some green tea mochi ice cream and fried tempura ice cream. It was all so good and so amazing. Just what we deserved after a long, hard day of working. If you find yourself at the edge of Baltimore, in the heart of Towson, plop over by Sushi Hana and leave with a potbelly. Guaranteed goodness.

Yes, I am a fan! You can get amazing hamachi or unagi, both good benchmarks for a sushi restaurants. Y E A Oh, and the salmon sashimi is as amazing as it gets. Their menu is exhaustingly extensive. Interesting names, clever recipes… they should sell a Sushi Food Prep Recipe Book, it would make millions, given how unique and interesting their ideas are. Let me know if they ever do, and I’m not around to notice! They’ve got more than enough awards on the walls to make you relax when you walk in, and the ambience is very soothing with the koi pond, open table area, sushi bar, and then up a couple steps is another dining room, with another bar, but it’s not a sushi bar… The frozen green tea drink is my favorite there. Yum. And when it comes to which rolls should you order, think first whether you want cold or warm. Tempura shrimp or salmon on the inside and warm unagi on the outside, with avocado either place is great for a winter’s meal. Salmon, tuna, or hamachi are best bets for cold, whether you’re a novice or connoisseur. All in all, I’ve brought a variety of friends and guests there, and everyone has been thoroughly delighted. Sushi always makes me feel so healthy the next day. This is what got me started on sushi to begin with when I was still in college. D A R N There are a couple things that could be better. And no one could tell me if the fish is wild-caught or farmed, so I suspect at least some of it is farmed. I felt like I was intruding to be asking, but after doing some research on farmed fish, I’m not one to choose it over wild caught, any day of the week. I tried the illustrious White Tuna and still think hamachi is the undefeated winner. Don’t think you can go in at closing and get a quick order, because this is when they seem most swamped by take-out orders. Staff can be too hectic for consistently attentive service. Sometimes you really have to wait for water, food, or the check. Some staff have been disoriented, i.e., new, mostly they are overworked for the work load. Management, you need to hire another server. This was a Tuesday night and several tables were waiting 20 minutes for their check, or other service needs. Staff doesn’t eat sushi themselves, they prefer other ethnic varieties. In fact, I was told by another patron, whose cousin is a reputable sushi aficionado, that there probably isn’t any«authentic» Japanese restaurant around here for miles and miles, if at all, meaning not owned or operated by Japanese chefs. Oh, dear… what’s a «sushi dai hard» to do?

As I have said before, I am a sushi snob and die-hard fan of Nick’s Samurai Sushi Bar in Cross Street Market. That said, my past two sushi experiences have been positive. Sushi Q has inspired me to branch out, so when I found myself in Towson with my lover-boy before a family party, we thought we’d pop into here for a light dinner date. Light it was not. I left there so full, I was waddling. We tried a sashimi platter, a spicy lobster roll, and another combo roll with tuna, salmon, yellowtail, and avocado. Everything was fresh and of good quality; the yellowfin was a little tougher than I am used to, but the taste was good. Everything came with a complimentary bowl of miso and a japanese steakhouse salad. The salad was average, but the miso was WONDERFUL. I usually hate miso, but this was so good with deep umami flavor and fresh scallions. We also had a seaweed salad and a cucumber salad, which were both delicious, fresh, and of a large portion size. I also opted for a mai tai, which was stong, cold, and very tasty. The service was so so, you have to flag someone down to get their attention for the most part, but the atmosphere is lovely at the sushi bar and the food and drinks were good.

I have been coming to sushi hana towson since 2003. I have NEVER had a complaint except today… normally I would chalk it up as just one bad day out of many many visits… but uhhhh no. I sat down at my normal spot at the sushi bar. I was given a menu and the normal warm towel. My waiter didn’t say a word. When it was time for me to order, he just took my sheet(didn’t say a word). I had to ask him could I have something to drink… most times this crew is super attentive etc. The icing on the cake is the sushi chef was sleep at the sushi bar… my phone rang and he opened his eyes; said hi and went back to sleep. When my food order was rang in. He jumped up, prepared my food and went right back to sleep… sorry for disturbing ur nap dude. Sushi hana is a great place. Please don’t become complacent. One word: slow. Walked in on a Saturday night at 7pm, seated by 7:15. Not bad! Left nearly at 10pm. The whole 4-person party was agitated by the wait for food. Yes, good sushi takes some time to make. Over 2 hours? Nah, brah. Maki rolls were ok – the lateness of the food coming out may have biased my opinion of it. Sure, the softshell crab roll was stuffed full of delicious crab, and the dynamite roll was tasty, but for that long, I expected that the food would wow me. Word of advice – don’t get the hot sake. Granted, the party was all Midwest white people, but damn, we all hated it.

While I loved in Baltimore this sushi place was my go to! It was my favorite and frankly it remains my favorite! I haven’t tried a better sushi place. Their sashimi is fresh, their miso soup is so yummy, I love their dumplings, and they do a great job making rolls. Everyone who has visited me in Baltimore or goes to visit Baltimore with me, I bring them here and they love it too! The rainbow roll is my favorite. They put three different kinds of fish inside the roll. So with every bite you get every kind of fish! I’ve never seen a sushi roll made like that.
