Late’s Take Out

We stopped by here after my daughter had a summer league basketball game. There were eight of us in our party. My family ordered after the other family we were with. The family we were with got their food and finished. We still didn’t have our food. We waited 58 minutes for our food. After, waiting so long I decided to take it home because it was getting dark and the neighborhood is scary during the day let alone when the sun goes down. There were a lot of people just hanging out in the front of the place and the stench of marijuana was potent. Which was less the desirable with four children with us. After, arriving home and taking our food out of the bag it was so soggy and greasy we could not eat any of it. We were left hungry and out $ 46.00. It’s too bad the place seems to have potential.

I was disappointed. Heard awesome reviews about this spot in town. So I had some type of Buffalo Clue Cheese Wrap which was extremely Salty, an order of soggy sweet potato Fries, just barely warm, what looked liked out the freezer Tyson Chicken Nuggets & the Quesadilla could’ve been better. Don’t bother wasting your time & you’d think there’d be a type of Combo Special… Well there’s Not! So yes it’s over priced too

Absolutely a waste of money cold nasty food stoned driver far over priced. Fries place next to cold ice tea. Driver upset when i wanted change could not be any worse. Do yourself a favor just go hungry.

Nope. It’s impossible to get this kind of food wrong, but they manage to do it.
Order yourself «buffalo wings». You get warm-​frozen breaded chicken tenders of the very worst variety, like something reheated out of a gas station deep-​freezer. I don’t even know how to describe the oily discharge that was included as some sort of ‘bleu cheese’.
How dare you call these «buffalo wings»! Please correct menu to: «Bulk-​discount chicken tenders misted in Frank’s Red Hot»
I get more reliable quality from street food in NYC.
If you’re really desperate, you can get a quesadilla or fries. A plain salad is surprisingly passable. But the food here is really disappointing, because it should be SO EASY to get right.
Please Lates — get it together. I want you to do well. I’m sure your burgers are greasy and tasty, I doubt these positive reviews are wrong — but I need to average things out. I’ve ordered here a number of times and every time, I felt like someone went dumpster diving at Applebees. There’s your review in a pinch!

It was okay, but barely. Fried mac and cheese is just battered easy mac, save your $$. Chili bacon cheese Fries came mushy and not very warm. The only reason i gave it two stars is because the sandwiches were delivered hot.

Great food, good service, decent prices and variety of fried foods. Friend mac n’ cheese and Oreos are a must… Only 4 stars bc during one visit the cooks had to keep pushing their hair away and were careless in touching random stuff while cooking, it was awkward bc you can see them cooking the food. That’s the only complaint, not enough to keep me from continuing to eat there.

I lived in Litchfield County most my life and Torrington has its share of «good» take out food options. We ran across Late’s on a Saturday afternoon. It’s off the main drag behind some of the higher end restaurants in town. We only noticed it because there was a small sign while waiting at the stop light on Main St. getting ready to turn right onto East Main. So instead of turning right onto East Main we took the hard right onto Franklin St and did a drive by of Late’s. There were are number of folks streaming in and out of the small establishment conjuring up enough interest for us to look it up online once we got home. I ask my son and his friend if they’d ever eaten there and my son’s friend said he and his dad ate there «all the time» and that the food was great. That was all the endorsement I needed to at least try it out. We ordered (3) take out meals to deliver to us in Harwinton. My son ordered the Mac N Cheese burger, I ordered the «Classic» Cheeseburger and my wife ordered the «Blondie» — Grilled Chicken Wrap. We also ordered a side of Sweet Potato Fries. From the time we ordered till the time it all arrived was about 45 minutes. The food was well wrapped in foiled and arrived at a good temperature (except for the fries ~ they should have wrapped them in foil ~ next time). In any case, starting with the burgers, they were BIG and Juicy! Fantastic flavor. This was not frozen patty but fresh beef (if not, they sure fooled us). The Grilled Wrap was equally tasty. I have to say the food exceeded our expectations and we will definitely be back. Late’s Take Out might be the best kept secret in T-​Town. But we are going to spread the word! Check this place out. Torrington needed a place like this ~ and now we have it!
