It would be nice to let the people waiting in line know you will be closing instead of just dropping the close sign on us. It was not 8:30pm yet so why are you in such a hurry to close up shop and let 4 hungry families starve. You guys suck. Hannexit. I am boycotting. Actually I am not missing much since your food has gone steadily worse.

Seriously, this is the best place to get tendon place outside of Japan. I will pretty much exclusively get tendon here, it’s THAT good! You can’t go wrong with anything you order here. You get great authentic food pretty cheaply. Most of their teishoku 定食(set meals) are under $ 10, so you’re really getting a steal for this high quality food. They are one of the few places in the Mitsuwa food court that takes a credit card, so bonus points there for sure. They also offer water and free dipping sauces where you pick up your food, so don’t forget to grab them! I especially love the vegetables, shrimp and fish tempura. So good! The give you pumpkin and shishito peppers in the vegetable mix, and they’re my favorite! The miso soup is also great, I want the machine they get it from! If you want some authentic tendon, there is no other place to look than Hannosuke!

Located inside the Mitsuwa Marketplace food court, but it is not your typical food court quality. The best Tempura in town. The batter in tempura is light and not doughy at all, and crispy. Very simple, but excellent in quality. The price is also right.

Nestled inside Misuwa Japanese supermarket, Hannosuke, is a tempura gem and shrimp tempura is my weakness. I get the shrimp tendon which is 4 shrimp tempura, 1 soft boiled egg tempura, a fried shishito pepper, seaweed paper, miso soup and rice. The best part is the sweet soy sauce they drizzle on the tempura and rice. Fried shrimp and rice is so simple but they have made it so delicious. I highly recommend the«original tendon» which is a bit of everything from shrimp to white fish to pumpkin tempura. The white first is very tasty and not at all fishy. I come at least once a week because it’s my favorite place to grab a quick meal in Torrance.

Best tempura ever! I’ve tried almost all the combo #‘s and they have never disappointed me. The tempura stays crunchy throughout your whole meal so you can take your time and enjoy the delicious crunch. Don’t forget to grab the small sauce and spices to dip your tempura in.

Seriously the BEST tendon place I’ve had outside of the motherland, in the convenience of Mitsuwa food court. I first heard about Hannosuke when I randomly passed by one in Taipei Main Station, but the line was so long I couldn’t even tell where it began. When I saw it at the Mitsuwa food court, I knew I just got to have it. I ordered the original Tendon bowl which came with two pieces of shrimp, white fish, shishito peppers, kabocha, seaweed, broccoli, and a half-cooked egg. Every piece of tempura was SO good: lightly battered and super crispy. And that half-cooked egg… omg, you bite into the crispy exterior and out gushes yolk… delicious! And the umami tendon sauce over a bed of pipping hot rice is heavently. Just writing about this is making me salivate… The only thing I wished they offered was nasu(eggplant) tempura, but I still cleaned out the entire bowl. Highly recommend!

I tried Hannosuke for the first time this week. I’ve never had tendon before, so I didn’t know what to expect. I was surprised that the prices aren’t that expensive, around $ 10 for each set, and it’s pretty filling. I ordered the #5 Original Tendon set with whitefish, two shrimp, pumpkin, soft boiled egg, shishito pepper, and seaweed over rice with miso soup and pickled ginger. The tempura were perfectly crispy and they had the delicious sauce which isn’t too sweet. I ate all my tempura, and it was soo good, but I was super full. My mom tried the set with the soba too, but I didn’t think the hot soba was that great. Just get one of the tendon sets!

Whenever I go to the food court at any Mitsuwa it’s always so hard to decide which place to eat at. I was in the mood for a combination of things so finally decided to try Hannosuke since there were always Zagat ratings over the stand. I decided on the soba in soup form and the tempura since you can’t go wrong with tempura. The soba was very flavorful but not overbearing and not overly salty. The tempura was light and crisp with just the right amount of batter. I believe this was all for under $ 9 which is a great deal.

I had lunch here a few days ago with my colleagues and my! Am I happy I tagged along! This place is truly a hidden gem. I had the original tempura plate for $ 10.88 and was really impressed by the quality and quantity. There is always a huge line especially during lunch.

*** $ 5 minimum for credit cards *** This food stand was originally Katsuhana( ) and about two years ago Katsuhana was replaced by Hannosuke. Hannosuke specializes in tendon tempura(aka tempura bowl) and this is one of the two locations in Los Angeles(there’s another location in Mar Vista). *** #8 Small Tendon and Soba(Hot)(soba, 2 shrimps, soft boiled egg. seaweed. shishito pepper, $ 9.98): Soba wasn’t too shabby, but broth was slightly more salty than I thought. However, fried soft boiled egg was pretty interesting and both shrimps were really yummy. *** I know normally there are more misses than hits for orders you typically get at food courts, but Hannosuke offers a pretty good lunch combo deal with tempura bowls that actually taste pretty decent. For about $ 10(plus tax), Hannosuke certainly didn’t under-deliver.

This is my fave stall at the Mitsuwa food court(Sorry Santouka). If you like lightly breaded crispy tempura, this is a must! I always order the #5(~$ 10). It comes with two shrimp, white fish, pumpkin, soft boiled egg, shishito pepper and seaweed over a bed of rice + miso soup + pickled ginger + sauce. I pour that sh! t on everything! Highly recommended!

2 hour lunch from jury duty! I’ve planned on making a stop here«someday» and someday finally came into fruition. The idea of tempura sounded really good, so really, it was just a matter of deciding which of their lunch sets sounded most appealing. Many recommended #1, but I decided on #5 just because I wanted to try their fish as well. I was probably 5th in line(it’s pretty popular!) and WOW this whole food court gets really crowded during lunch!!! However, it wasn’t difficult to find a table. Seems like there’s always somebody leaving. I noticed that every table in my vicinity had ordered something from here, too, so I was pretty excited! I don’t think I waited more than 10 minutes before my number got called. I got a couple of their extra sauce. The miso soup was what it was. Nothing extraordinary. What makes this dish, really, is their batter. It wasn’t thick or greasy and what a difference it makes to enhance the flavor of each item. I broke the soft boiled egg and let the yolk ooze down into the rice. The shrimp was fresh, crunchy and had a nice hint of sweetness to it. The fish was crispy on the outside and flaky and juicy on the inside. I’m not really a fan of vegetables(especially broccoli) but that batter was so good I ate ALL of it. That says a lot. It was great! This is now my go-to for tempura ANYTHING!

Best tempura !!! Crispy and doesn’t leave that nasty oily taste when you eat it. I’m sure this stuff isn’t a whole lot of good for your body but man oh man it’s REALLYGOOD. I don’t know what it is about the rice but even their rice taste so good!!! I usually get this with the ramen and the place near here in the same food court and eat it together with my boyfriend. Make sure to call ahead of time to make your order so you don’t have to wait the ridiculously long line ! If you call ahead, by the time you get there, your order is ready for ya! YAY!

I have been going to Mitsua food court for over 16 years and one of the newest additions to arrive is Hannosuke which incredibly I did not get to try until recently even though they have been open for a little more than a year now. Hannosuke is better known for their Tempura Bowls that originated from Nihonbashi, Tokyo. The Tempura made at Hannosuke has a very distinct flavor that you don’t get from the average Japanese restaurant. The Tempura has a very delicate coating that is not doughy and very crispy which is laid on top of a bed of rice and seasoned with a secret sauce that is very bold and full of flavor. I would highly recommend Hannosuke if you have not tried their Tempura before, it is a really a treat that you don’t want to miss out on.

Came by after craving some Japanese food for lunch and ordered the #5 which came with tempura shrimp, sweet potato, broccoli, fish, shishito pepper, seaweed and my favorite, the soft boiled egg. All this goodness came on a bed of rice that had some light tempura sauce sprinkled on top. The bowl came with a side of miso soup for a nice and filling meal. It was early afternoon on a Monday, so there was no wait to order and I got my food probably about 10 minutes after. Everything was fresh and crispy. I think it’s the best tempura I’ve ever had!

Held within the Mitsuwa Market among a few other Japanese food vendor stalls, Hannosuke makes me want to believe that I’ve been transported magically to Japan. The culture is rich here and you’ll find families to couples on dates enjoying the food court styled meals. The beauty of the cafeteria style is that your group isn’t limited to one restaurant, you can pick and choose and share! :) If you’ve been to Mitsuwa before, you’ll know that parking is ample and just a little walking around past bookstores and the grocery store will lead you to the food court. Seating isn’t too hard to find except for when it’s prime dinner time. Tip: have at least one person in charge of finding and keeping a table while the rest of the group orders. Also, you can opt to look for your table after ordering while you wait for your food to cook. Hannosuke took about 30 minutes total from waiting in line to getting my food. I wouldn’t recommend coming here in a pinch, but I love how convenient it is after buying some goodies at the Mitsuwa market! I ordered their #8 small shrimp tendon with soft boiled egg set complete with hot soba and an extra slice of pumpkin tempura. For a total of $ 12. They don’t ask for tip! I had originally ordered the soba because I thought ordering ramen along with tempura would be pushing it even for a foodie. So soba would be a perfect addition to the oil heavy meal set. The buckwheat noodles came in a light dashi stock with a few green onion slices as garnish. To be fully honest, I found it quite meh. I think this is a personal opinion solely because my fatty heart just really wanted ramen and doesn’t really prefer soba. It did work well as a palate cleanser in addition to the ginger slices. The real star of the evening was the tempura. I’ve had plenty of shrimp tempura before and due to other places’ poor execution I’ve come to not care about it as much. However, Hannosuke fries their tempura to perfection. The batter was crispy and just enough; the insides a tender and juicy delight. I’m making myself salivate just thinking about it. But hold up, I haven’t even brought up the soft boiled egg yet. Many a times I’ve tried cooking an egg hurriedly in the morning only to take it off the skillet in disappointment at its fully cooked yolk. The fact that they had so many orders coming in and my soft boiled egg just oozed golden perfection as I cut into the lightly fried egg white is a feat in itself. Definitely add this to your meal set if it isn’t included already! In conclusion, invest your money in the all tempura sets instead of the tempura and soba set. Happy eating~

Just like the Culver City location… This is how tempura should be. Lightly crispy shrimp, fish or vegetables on the outside, covering a moist and delicious inside. I dont know how they do it but i’ve never had tempura like that. It’s so good. You just have to try for yourself to know what everyone else is clamoring about. On this trip, I just tried the tempura bowl with 3 pieces of shrimp and several different kinds of vegetable including the shishito pepper. No delicious egg tempura in this one. No perfectly sticky rice to accompany it. But the tempura was still so good. So delicious. It came with 2 types of dipping sauce. One spicier than the other. Next time, I will definitely get the whole shabang. I miss the taste of that eel tendon. Soo good. Hannosuke. Always. 5 stars.

New Year’s Day is when my family and I make the trip to Gardena and Torrance for our New Year’s dinner supplies. Temaki Sushi, Ozoni and Sake are what’s on the menu. After we’ve stocked up, Mitsuwa Marketplace is our go to spot for lunch. This year we opted to eat at Hannosuke because the pictured menu looked really good. The line was long but the cashier was fast and organized. I sent my mom and dad to find seating. It wasn’t long before I got our piping hot Edomae Tendon Bowls. It has Tempura Anago(eel), 2 shrimps, Kakiage(mixed tempura), soft boiled egg, seaweed and Shishito Pepper. It looks as good as the picture and tastes great. My mom doesn’t make Tempura at home so this was a treat!

Newly opened and located inside the Torrance Mitsuwa, Hannsouke is a tempura restaurant inside the food court. Sometimes there’s a really long line and other times you’ll be lucky like I was this day. The food is great, and I can see why they get long lines sometimes. It’s by far the best tempura you’ll get for the buck(read: great value). I ordered one of their lunch combos(I believe it was #5 for about $ 9) — 2 shrimp, miso soup, and other stuff. I would gladly go back when given the chance! And I highly suggest that you do too. PS: they even accept credit cards!

Deep. Fried. Soft. Boiled. Egg.(check out my video) I’ve always wanted to go to a place that specializes in just tempura and man does this place hit the spot. It’s located in the food court inside Mitsuwa Marketplace. Let me start off by saying this isn’t your typical tempura that you dip into a sauce, this tempura has been fried to a beautiful golden brown and drizzled with some seriously good sauce. This tempura doesn’t make you feel greasy or heavy after, instead you feel amazed and wondering how someone could make tempura taste so good. I opted for the #3 and it came it a large piece of eel(the thing was massive), two shrimp tempura, a shisto pepper, some vegetables, and a tempura soft boiled egg. You can tell how delecatly each piece was treated and that this place takes tempura seriously, it’s not an after thought, it’s the main attaction. If i’m ever in the area I’ll no doubt stop by again, plus it’s only about 20 minutes from LAX! This place is a MUST if you like tempura :)
