I met Larry Hallett in the early summer of 2012, when my brother was dying of pancreatic cancer and Larry was working as the Chaplain for a Hospice organization. I am not a religious person, nor was my brother, so we looked forward to Larry’s involvement in the same way we might think about taking an exam to get out of school. How wrong we were! Larry was compassionate and helpful, yet was able to let us lead the way. When the time came for the funeral, again, Larry took the cues from the family, and honored our beliefs in a very respectful way. The funeral was just as we wished it to be, and Larry’s personality and help in dealing with issues, both practical and spiritual, helped to make it a ceremony to honor my brother and his memory.
