Joe Joe’s Italian Hot Dogs

The hot dogs are GREAT. No matter how you get them, everything is made fresh to order. Treat yourself to a real cherry cola or vanilla cola, amazing. Can’t eat like this all the time, but when I want a good hot dog, this is where I go. I hope to try the burger one day, so far, can’t keep myself from ordering the Italian hot dog!

Great place!!! If you are ever in Toms River you have to stop at this place. The staff is excellent.

New to town and this place is very close to my new house. I’m from Hudson County and I was in the hot dog business before.
The girl working there told me that this place invented the Italian hot dog and everyone up north knows the first place to have Italian hot dog is ruts hut
When you buy push cart dogs, casting Franks it goes by number. How many dogs in a pound so higher number is smaller dog. This place uses the smallest hot dog they sell. It’s like a #2 penci
l in a hot dog roll.
They are not sabre test but they day thumbs deepbfryer. I used them before and I have doubts. The casting is so thick.
And no homemade chili. Makes me wanna open up my place down here.
And staff didn’t seem friendly. I won’t go back

I’ve had poor imitations of Italian Hot Dogs in other places. They never come close to the excellent ones at Joe Joe’s. I love the Italian Sausage sandwiches and usually order the double. We moved down from Iselin several years ago and were happy to find that they had moved to Toms River too. I only wish they delivered as I no longer drive because of illness. Do yourself a big favor, stop by and try both the Italian Hot Dogs and Sausage. You will not be able to stop smiling.

The dialogue exchanged between the owner and patrons here make them sound like characters from a dark comedy novel. It’s strangely comforting to listen to as you’re munching on your italian dog.

I love this place. Good food and while you’re waiting you can usually hear the owner talking with his customers. Everyone seems to know he’s a little crazy and the customers are too. I mean this in a good way.
I can’t comment on much else except the Italian Hot Dogs and the Sausage. Those are the only things I’ve ever tried and it’s why I keep going back.
The only reason I gave this a 4 instead of a 5 is the chili. Not sure if it’s homemade. Tastes like Hormel out of a can. His homemade onion sauce is good, though.

Craving an Italian Hot Dog heading back to Seaside Park, have passed Joe Joe’s and wondered is it any good they never seem busy so today we stopped in. Small little Eatery with all the Hot Dogs, Sausage, Cheese Steak, push cart style dogs etc all rolled into one.
Pleasantly surprised to say the least. Order taken everything made fresh to order as Joe — cooked us up a few double dogs with everything on Pizza Bread. We had a couple of Push Cart style dogs while we were waiting and the onions and all the condiments were excellent.
The Italian Hot Dogs were absolutely Killer. Huge sandwiches though $ 9.25 for a double is pushing the limits of price points even here. But I digress they were fabulous. Fountain drinks have free refills and the girl who took our order was super helpful…
Only negative was the ventilation in the place is awful. We were only there for about 15 minutes and my entire body and all my shorts and golf shirt smelled like fried oil. Not good at all. Food great service excellent — I’ll do take out next time but a nice new addition to the rotation.

first started going to this place when they were in iselin… ah, the good olds days… grab an italian hot dog then go next door to the iselin theatre… theatre was a dump, but a cheap movie with your friends… joe joes’ made it all worthwhile… only been there a couple times since they moved, but still the best italian hot dogs around!

Yesterday, I reached a new milestone in my life. I FINALLY got to try an Italian Hot Dog. After so many years on this earth, I was missing out on something so divine. So that being said, a few words about Joe Joe’s. I went for the single italian dog (the works, minus the mustard, you can call me crazy but I don’t do mustard, never have, never will). The dog came in what appeared to be pizza crust, serving as the «bun.» Stuffed inside were also crispy potatoes, peppers, and onions. It certainly filled me up. It looks like this place has been around for a long time and that’s what I love about it. You have to experience the atmosphere for yourself. Nothing says NJ like stepping into Joe Joe’s. Next time, I would love to try their burger and cheese fries. Yesterday was 9.10.11 and if I weren’t conscious about my weight, I would have ordered 9, 10, or 11 of these Italian dogs.
Yeah this is stuff dreams are made of.

Italian hot dogs are something specific to this area and something very near and dear to my heart! Here at Joe-Joe’s, you can order a single or a double. A single is a quarter loaf of round bread, a hot dog, fried peppers and onions, deep fried slices of potatoes and then whatever topping you want. Ketchup? Mustard? Both! Whatever you want! A double is just that… DOUBLE! 2 dogs, and double toppings on half a loaf of round bread.
