Great pit stop on the GA/NC line. My girls always look forward to seeing the kids grow to adult goats. Boiled peanuts are good too.

We’re spending our spring break visiting tourist traps. And«Goats On The Roof» is no trap. It’s kind of the best thing ever. The goats are adorbs. The staff is beyond kind. The gem mining was super fun. And the food? I don’t think I’ve ever had better ice cream. My kid’s birthday is coming up. I wonder if they host parties… Anyway, go there. Totally worth it.

I love Goats on a Roof for a quick break on a long drive with unsuspecting company. If you’re headed into the mountains with friends or family, kids or not, it’s a great little stop that’s sure to put a smile on everyone’s face. To keep this stop short and sweet, there are restrooms located next to the parking lot and goat viewing/feeding area. For a real treat though, head inside the general store for homemade preserves and candies, or into the ice cream parlor where they make fudge too. Goat feed comes in 2 cones for $ 1 at the window, and it’s pretty much adorable to feed the little goats as they nuzzle you through the fence or send it up the feed ladder to the roof, where a couple of hungry dudes are sure to butt heads over a bite. You won’t find a more unique stop to round out your trip up into Appalachia!

Probably the cutest tourist trap I’ve willingly submitted myself to. Located right on the highway, Goats on the Roof is a little kitsch-y and off-kelter and the goats are just so gosh darn cute. They are literally on the roof. Quick little five-minute detour/pit stop.

Pretty cool pit stop on a long trip from NC to Florida! I love goats, so this place was a must-visit. There really aren’t a ton of great places to stop between Asheville and Atlanta, so despite the 3-star rating, this is still one of the better places to stop. The Good: — Cute goats! You can’t pet them, sadly, but you can feed them. — Great location to walk around and stretch your legs on a road trip. — Kids seem to LOVE this place. — Liquid nitrogen ice cream! I can’t eat ice cream, but it was fun to watch people make ice cream using liquid nitrogen. The Not-So-Good: — Again, we couldn’t actually pet the goats. — The bathroom was pretty gross. It was in a small outhouse and reminded me of a campground bathroom. The trashcan was overflowing and they were out of soap. Which is a little gross if the goats have been eating food from your hand. — The shopping and food items were a bit underwhelming, but that’s no big deal. I came for the goats, after all. Overall, I’d still stop here again to stretch my legs and take photos of adorable goats. But I’d use the restroom elsewhere.

The first time I went here, there were lots of goats and bunnies and chickens on the roof. When I went to visit last week, there was ONEGOAT on the roof. I’m glad we stopped on the way to another destination instead of going up to TIger, GA specifically for this attraction. Still, you’ve got to love their dedication to the theme. All of the goat signs are SUPER fun.

Such an odd place passing by– goats on the roof?!? So we ended up stopping by here and yup, its frickin goats on the frickin roof, which is… awesome! You can buy pellets in an ice cream cone to feed them. Only thing I wish is that you could pet the goats and feed them up close. You have to put your feed in a bucket then pull the cable to send it to them, which is a bummer because it would be nice to be up close to them. You can tell this is definitely a tourist trap. Inside there’s a store with a bunch of goodies to buy: taffy, refreshments, pretty stones, etc. My boyfriend bought a bag of dirt for $ 6 to use it to «pan for gold.» We found some pretty stones in the dirt and the kids had fun. The best thing to do here is to taste the ice cream frozen by nitrogen. It’s the best ice cream in town. I had the peach cobbler made with caramel ice cream with graham crackers and amish peaches– highly recommended. Plus it was pretty cool seeing the freezing process for the first time.

For adults, this is nothing more than a tourist trap. For kids, «this is the most awesome and funnest place EVER» as said by my four year old. It’s a great place to stop and stretch your legs if you’re making that drive from Atlanta to western North Carolina. I had a hard time dragging my kids away when it was time to go. To them, there’s nothing more fun than to feed a bunch of goats ice cream cones with goat food in it. They could’ve spent HOURS here, but I wouldn’t let them, and I very quickly became mean mommy to them when I made them get back into the car. On a road where there’s really nowhere to stop, this is the best place.

The goats alone merit 5 stars. They’re real celebrities and so stinkin’ cute! However, the shop and ice cream/fudge shop leave much to be desired. I highly recommend feeding the goats and getting some fudge, but not much else at all unless you have small kids that are looking for souveniers.

They’re goats. On a roof. How can you not be a fan? It’s pretty much a requirement on any road trip through Rabun County(which is gorgeous) that you stop at this tourist trap and get your picture taken with the goats(on the roof). Bathrooms, t-shirts, snacks, the usual tourist tchotchkes, and goats(on a roof): it’s more than just your average roadside stand.

So my hubby is a goat fan… This place was like Disney for him. Haha. In reality, it’s a bit of a roadside gimmick. However, it’s well done. Very clean. They pulled off the theme perfectly. There are activities, places to sit, drinks and snacks for purchase. You can even feed the goats — kids had a blast. It was a really nice stop to get out and stretch in an area that doesn’t have too much to break up the driving.

Such a strange and random place, but we heard about it and had to make the two hour trek to check it out for ourselves. I feel it’s a place that once I have gone once, there’s no need to make the two-hour drive again, but I can say I’ve been there. LOL. My four-year-old son LOVED it. He was all about pedaling up some food in an ice cream cone for the goats(which he kept calling«sheeps»). He was somewhat disappointed(as was I) that you can’t get close to the goats and can’t touch them. There were only four goats total that we saw, but hopefully they were hiding somewhere and there really are more. I hate that the sign for their café is full of grammatical errors. You’d think someone would have noticed somewhere along the way, but apparently they were too excited about opening, that they didn’t notice the mistakes. It really was a cute little place and I recommend that everyone go at least once. Do I recommend taking a two hour each way trip for it? Not really, but if you like driving and don’t mind the time it takes to get there, it’s fun. Oh, and I wanted to mention that we got lunch while there(because there aren’t a lot of other options close by for food). I ordered their BLT special(it was pretty good) and got my son the hotdog kid’s meal. I was expecting a normal size hotdog for $ 4.00. It was not, it was the smallest hotdog that I’ve ever seen in my life. It was the size of my pinky finger and he finished it in two bites. :-)

A tourist trap of the first order, Goats on the Roof offers a little bit of everything… Goats? On the roof(s) of the building(s)? Check. You can even feed them, with goat food, purchased in the café. A café, serving both sugary snacks and more substantial fare? Check. The ice cream is made on-site, in front of you, with liquid nitrogen! A store selling«road trip» souvenirs? Check. Everything from tee-shirts to preserves to hats. A little«gem mining» and geode cracking facility? Check. Fun for the whole family! Most importantly, clean bathrooms? Check plus. This is a perfect place to stop, stretch your legs, perhaps have a burger or some ice cream, or pick up a lollypop or two for the kids. It is *exactly* what you think it is, driving past, and that’s part of what makes it so fun.

My husband and I both dropped our jaws on the car floor as we passed… wonder how many people ude the turn-a-round to get back to that place? Its was a fun and well done place. Adults and kids alike will love it. Stayed there an hour just laughing and having a good time.(bring a camera) Buy a stuffie goat, so cute and u get a birth certificate :) only $ 9.99 and it goes a long way to keeping the goats fed. A must see in N. Georgia!!!

Any time I bring any friends home with me I bring them to goats on the roof! No matter who I bring, they always love it. Unfortunately one time we went, my friend found a dead bird hidden in the condiments. We all laughed it off though.

«STOPTHECAR! THEREAREGOATSONTHEROOF!» That’s literally what I yelled as we drove by this completely goofy roadside attraction on a lonely stretch of road. Goats on the Roof has buildings where the roofs have been covered with grass and contain(brace yourself) goats. Why? I have no idea. On the other hand if this was just some random gift shop we never would have stopped so I think I have my answer. If a goat gets tired of hanging out on one roof there’s little ‘goat bridges’ that connect the roofs together. The goats didn’t look stressed at all about being trapped up on a roof. Actually, they looked annoyed that I wasn’t feeding them. You don’t actually get to touch any goats(no great loss there). Instead you buy food and send it up to them via a pulley system. When you get tired of looking at goats there’s plenty to buy in the gift shop. Items range from the expected(jams and candy) to the«Who buys this stuff?»(a stuffed raccoon). I bought a Goats on the Roof magnet to commemorate this great day. The other building was a deli where you could also buy fudge and ice cream. An ice cream cone was just what I needed on this hot day. As we drove under a goat bridge and pulled out of the parking lot to continue our journey the only thing I could think was, «Did that just happen?»

1. Like goats? Ah, who doesn’t… 2. Wished you had some, but didn’t want to clean up the poop? 3. Ever wanted to know what it looks like when there are… Goats on the Roof? If so, this place is your heaven. It’s a free exhibit in Tiger, GA. They also recently opened one up in Helen, GA. As stated, this place has goats on the roof of little buildings. You pay for food, if you want… and feed the goats. Via a system of cool goat feeding apparatuses. Wires, cables, cups, bicycles. Its all very complicated. Anyway, its very fun, kids love it. They have a cool firepit where you can roast marshmallows while the kids scurry about. Also have some neat stuff in the shops.

Tacky but cute! As a former goat owner I have to say this is goatie paradise! Kind of like a habitrail for goats. I was happy to see they were being fed healthy pellets instead of sweetfeed and all looked in good shape if a bit too plump.(aren’t we all) There is a bike for kids to pedal to convey the food up to the goats and the kids that I saw using it were having a grand time. The crafts are pretty typical roadside stuff and the bathroom is clean and decent.
