Pediatric Dental at Bridgeport

After struggling with finding a pediatric dentist that my kids (boys, now 7 &9) were comfortable with, we ending up traveling the extra 10 minutes to go visit Dr. Ben. They love him, never complain about going to the dentist, and as parents we feel good about the dental advice we’re given from Pediatric Dental (even when we’re thinking about our younger’s first potential cavity!).
Great reminders (via text message) about upcoming appointments (a nice touch with today’s modern busy schedules) as well as snail mail reminders about needing to schedule the next regular checkups. We’ll keep seeing Dr. Ben as long as he’s practicing!

Got a referral from my regular dentist for my daughter since he doesn’t do a lot of pediatric dental. I called to schedule an appointment. Twice I was told I would be called back in 5 min. 5 hours later I got the first call back. Second time they never even attempted to call back. Worst customer sevice I’ve ever had trying to schedule a simple appointment. I will definitely take my business elsewhere. It’s been 5 min still waiting 6 hours later!!!

I took my daughter here for years, but recently switched dental offices because she is 17. She has had a much better experience at our new dental office. Pediatric Dental was always very busy and very open with little privacy for patients. Sometimes, we would wait 30 minutes to get in even with an appointment.

This place is great. My daughter actually enjoys going to her dental appointments. The office atmosphere is very kid friendly and child oriented. They have up to date devices to keep the kids preoccupied and current technology in dental equipment. My daughter tells me each time that her dental work was completed painlessly and smooth. The staff is very friendly and I would recommend this dental office to anyone.

We took our 1-​year-​old to Dr. Kang for his first dental visit. I found Dr. Kang from another review site and he had stunning reviews.
The receptionists were efficient and wonderful. You can download their forms online and fill them out in advance. You can also contact them via phone or email. We had to cancel/​reschedule once because little guy had a fever. Dr. Kang seemed really booked up because when we reschedule it was a month later.
The office was modern and clean. They have traditional toys and two iPads for the kids to play with. They gave the kiddo a free token after his visit for the fun ball/​toy machine.
The staff were very nice and warm, which probably made Dr. Kang seemed like a gray cloud among them. Dr. Kang talked really fast so little guy got scared. The visit was brief as it should be. Dr. Kang highlighted some concerns and taught us how to brush little guy’s teeth.
Overall, the visit was fine. I was a little surprised when Dr. Kang didn’t seem as good with children as the reviews (from another site) said he was. Maybe my little guy was too young?
By the way, Dr. Kang’s technique (for those interested): have toddler straddle around one person then hold him down while another person wedge a finger in the corner of his mouth to keep his mouth open then brush his teeth.
This technique stopped working after a few days for us. I found another technique on a moms forum with some modifications that worked better for us: securely wrap little one in a towel, use one toothbrush to hold his mouth open and another to brush, sing a song while brushing (I sing ABC), and don’t forget to cheer after you’re done. I had to have my boyfriend hold little guy’s head still a couple times at the beginning. He enjoys getting his teeth brushed now and would open his mouth for me on his own after I wrap him up. Sometimes I pretend like I’m trying to catch a butterfly and he loves it when I chase after him. After a couple months, he now let us brush his teeth at the sink.

Three years later and I’m still a happy customer. This was our first visit to their new location behind the movie theaters at Bridgeport Shopping Center. Rather than a constant stream of movies running in the waiting room, they now have two iPads for the kids to play games while waiting for their appointment. Nice change for both the parents and especially the office staff.
Now that my kids are older, we’ve also worked with Dr. Ben on the integration of orthodontia into my oldest son’s dental care. We definitely weren’t pushed or rushed in that direction, but were given a good heads up as the time approached. This is particularly helpful when planning your medical spending allocation for the family.
