Insphere’s Jeffrey Benson met with me during all the initial confusion with the Obamacare start up. He seemed less informed than I was about the new program. He was sure I was entitled to zero subsidy. Then I persuaded him to look it up and found that I was eligible for a modest subsidy. Yet he reported to the state that I had zero income and they put me on Oregons Safety Net Insurance program, which was free but has very limited services and providers. I protested and filed to have it changed but Cover Oregon left it intact, I presume because by the time they got around to re-​evaluating me, they were in the process of throwing in the towel. I did, however, sign up and pay for dental and vision coverage through Jeffrey, but never heard anything since writing him the check. I didn’t even know who the coverage was with. I left at least a dozen messages for him over a period of several months and not one was returned. All calls go directly to the agents line and there is no opportunity given to speak to anyone else. But guess what? I heard from Jeffrey many months later, when it was renewal time.
This company seems to have rather maverick agents who operate with little or not oversight, and in this case the results were far less than satisfactory. My counsel would be to keep a wide berth from them.
If they should offer an explanation countering my assertions well, you’ll have to decide for yourself who is telling the truth. I have no reason bother offering comment about them other than to feel better that I’ve tried to give others fair warning.
I finally got these issues resolved at my renewal time and am pretty satisfied with my new insurance, which I got myself through the Obamacare website. No more agents for me!
