This is seriously awful bbq, do not waste your time or money here. Bland, spongy meat on a bland soggy bun with bland sauce. This is nowhere near Texas style bbq, it’s an embarrassment to even try to say is bbq at all. No smoke flavor, not even a hint. The side were also bland, like unsalted mashed potatoes. Indeed do pass this cart by. Go into the convenience store behind it and try something out of the freezer. It will probably be better.

Tried coming here a couple times now and it has been closed every time… Is this place still in service? Will re review after I try it

I was in here a few weeks ago and asked the gentleman whom I suspect was the proprietor to tell me what I should get. He suggested the pork sandwich which I bought. Now when I saw it was Texas style bbq you figure you get your meat on butcher paper with a couple slices of Wonder bread. What he handed me was one of those half dinner sized containers and it weighed too much. My thought was it was too heavy, so I checked the box to make sure I didn’t get someone else’s order. When I looked in the box my mind was blown, not only was there about three days worth of dinner in there but it was on a nice hoagie roll baked with the cornmeal on the bottom. I know my bread and this was good stuff. I went down and took a taste of the meat. It was perfect. Now I’ve been working on perfecting my recipe for BBQ pork shoulder for ten years. I’ve studied and read books and blogs about it, I’ve cooked hundreds of them over the years and this was the real deal. Now some people might say that Texas BBQ is beef which I think comes from watching too much Guy Fieri. Everyone who’s worth a damn does pork, it is the oldest BBQ in North America. Since the beginning of the republic a bbq was the best way of drawing a crowd, especially for a campaign event. I’ve always suspected that it connects with our primal sense that meat off the fire isn’t going to hurt you and is likely free of taint. Back to the here and now, what I like about this is that it is chopped. I think pulled pork was on the menu and if you are a fan of that preparation you should get it but I don’t do that if given the choice, which a good BBQ place always will. Chopped allows for the meat to still have big firm intact chunks. Because of those pieces the meat is front and center, no hiding behind sauce. That’s not to say the sauce wasn’t good or there, it’s just that some places lean on the spice and go for smaller pieces of meat to hide imperfections. Not so here at Delicious Texas, the spice was there but it wasn’t amped up, the pieces were big so you could taste them and the textures were great too because of the chopping. I don’t know what happened to some of these other gentlemen in some of these other reviews but as a bbq person that grew up in a bbq region(Missouri) this is good stuff and very affordable. Portlanders sometimes have an opinion on things the might not be fully qualified to speak too, and with some of these reviews that seems to be true for bbq too.

Not Delicious. Not Texas. It’s Pit, so there’s that. BBQ? Well it’s got sauce drenched all over it… why? Lesson learned.

I would not recommend to come to this place. I am a brisket master, actually I am a brisket eating master. I think they used the wrong part of the meat for the brisket. It was chewy and no where near as tender as it should be. Biting off a piece should not require any effort from the meat, it should tear off with little resistance. Pretty sure they used a pot roast for the meat. Potato salad is tasteless and unappetizing. Beans are good. The meat is also over smoked. Too smoky.

LOVETHISPLACE! Went there for the first time last night. There are a couple small tables under an awning, very appreciated on a hot day(and of course rainy days too). We planned on just grabbing food for take-out but the proprieter implored us to sit and relax, which we did. We got the plate lunch for 2 with brisket, pulled pork, potato salad and coleslaw. It was AMAZING. The meats were delicious and satisfying, huge portions. Brisket was falling apart and pulled pork is tender. The BBQ sauce was tangy and reached a nice balance of spicy and sweet. Potato salad and cole slaw were basic and no frills, but fresh, delicious and the perfect side for the meats. Prices are extremely reasonable. This was the kind of meal where I ate way past«full», even a little past«pain». Took home the leftovers and ended up scarfing down the rest a few hours later. I can’t wait to go back and try more, I want to try everything. NOW. It is right on the highway, so if you’re looking for ambiance maybe try somewhere else. If you are in casual mode and just want delicious food that you may become addicted to, I highly recommend it.

This place is amazing! They always have wonderful food and great prices. In Aug of 2011 they catered my wedding and did a great job being professional, dependable and, of course, delicious.

I’m so sorry to be leaving only two stars. But I can not in good conscience steer anyone who is looking for good barbecue here. I have finally learned that if the word«Texas» is in the title, and I’m not *IN* Texas, I should pass on the food. For those in the know, there is a sign on window saying they no longer do the $.99 sandwiches due to the price of meat. The service was a bit off, but nothing I could point to specifically. The young(teenaged?) lady working was short, not impolite, but not friendly. At least she stopped talking on her cell phone while she was taking care of my order. There was kind of a «I don’t want to be here, but I’m resigned to this because I need the money,» attitude going on. I got the brisket and the«Texas style sausage.» Sides were corn on the cob and the baked beans. If you’ve read my reviews for a while, you know that I’m a proponent of good meat as the base for great BBQ. Unfortunately, they don’t seem to use good meat. There was not a single part of this meal that was good. The sauce was OK, but I can name a half dozen canned sauces that are better. The brisket was not smokey at all despite the smoker over on the side of the parking lot. It had the consistency of having been cooked in an oven first, then smoked. The sausage was OK, but didn’t have a lot of flavor to it. In fact, it tasted almost exactly like the corn on the cob to me. The baked beans were the best part of the meal, but that is one food that tastes better the longer they simmer. I’ve had worse BBQ by far, but I ended up tossing at least half the meal away because I just couldn’t finish it.

Ignore these 1-Stars where the reviewers spend most of the time talking about themselves. This place is as legit as BBQ gets and could hold its own against the best places in the south. Charles keeps it simple like it’s supposed to be — Generous servings of tender smoked meat that falls apart when you try to put a fork in it. Prices are extremely reasonable.

I’ve had a lot of barbecue. From pulled pork in Rocky Mount, NC, to Texas brisket and loads of ribs, chicken, etc. all over. This is the worst barbecue I’ve ever paid money for. I stopped by on the way home when I saw the smoker going and got a half pound of pulled pork and brisket. They gave me a couple ounces of sauce for free. Total about $ 12 which is well worth it for decent bbq. If you’re a que-head you might know that sauce is a personal choice. Good meat is good without sauce, and great sauce can elevate it new heights. But if the meat is bad, sauce is the new coat of paint on the rotten house. So I eat a lot of my bbq without sauce, especially when I’m trying out something new. Neither meat had any character of its own. The pork was edible, but entirely flavorless. The brisket had a good smoke ring, maybe a bit over-charred & dried, but looked pretty nice. It was loose, greasy, and had a lot of fat still in the meat. My guess it that they cut corners and don’t use any rub when preparing the meat. Then they attempt to salvage the results with sauce. Oh, the sauce. When I opened the little sauce tub and sniffed it I knew we were in trouble. Liquid smoke? Seriously? Either a store-bought by the 55-gal drum or a misguided attempt to make it smokey. Complete failure. I at about half the pork with a Piedmont sauce I made myself in 30 seconds. But I’m not even interested in trying to make the brisket palatable. What blows my mind is that this place has gotten 3 – 5 stars pretty regularly. Maybe there’s something wrong with me? Save your money and go elsewhere.

A decent food truck/catering company that serves real smoked BBQ. I know that it’s really smoked and BBQ’d because they have a huge Traeger grill that is constantly smoking meat outside their cart almost every day. They have pretty decent BBQ food here ranging from $ 1 pulled pork sammies, to $ 6 dollar BBQ mammoths! Their location and brand aren’t anything flashy. They just have a trailer parked in front of the Metzger Grocery in Tigard, but they serve up some tasty creations if you ever stop in here. I usually stop in here on a lunch break, or if I’m ever at the store getting a 6-pack of cold-ones and feel a slight hankering for some BBQ. The staff is usually fairly friendly and their prices can be more than reasonable. Worth checking out.

It was Memorial Day and we were looking for a lunch spot before hitting up Kitchen Kaboodle, we ended up here, had seen it several times but never stopped. We have a Traeger Grill and smoke meat quite often, so we know our stuff. I have also tried all the chain barbecue joints in this town including fancy pants Russell Street, this place blows them all out of the water. We had the Beef Brisket and Pulled Pork, which were tasty and amazing, moist, succulent and very smokey. The sauce was so good we bought some for later consumption at home The sides, in a word suck, at least what we had. Mac Salad was Reesers for sure, hubby liked the beans but was sure they were out of a can, he thought the cole slaw was home made. I had the greens which were just gross(the owner told me they were vegetarian, so no smokey ham hock or salt, no flavor at all(inedible even with hot sauce) Next time I will stick with corn on the cob(hard to screw that up). I did get smoked yams to take home which were quite delicious, it is a whole smoked yam! The owner is a real sweetie who checked on us several times to make sure our food was good. The only thing that keeps this from being a 5 is the sourpuss who takes your order and delivers your food. This chick needs a Customer Service class like nobodies business. Also it is on a really busy street so eating in front you can expect to not hear the person across the table from you! We will be back for sure! The meat is obviously the focus of this business, and it is good!

I have never written a review on Unilocal before. After getting the take out BBQ from this place earlier this evening, though, I feel like I should put out a public service announcement. I should have listened to my instincts about this place. The aroma was not great when I walked up – actually smelling a little like formaldyhyde. And the aroma was the best thing about the food! Let me start by saying that all three of the meats that I tried – pulled pork, beef brisket and baby back ribs – were burnt. Not smoked, BURNT. I don’t know how this happens; I guess the guy smokes his meat at too high of a temperature. Then there is the fact that, other than smoke, the meat had no seasoning whatsoever. Typically, bbq meat has some sort of dry rub on it when it is put into the smoker… not this stuff. So the end product was not only burnt, but tasteless. Also, it’s worth noting that the brisket was the toughest and fattiest that I have ever seen. It, quite literally, was like chewing on leather… which is too bad, because the smoky flavor of the beef was pretty good… if I could have chewed it enough to swallow! Then there is the BBQ sauce: tasted like it came out of a bottle! The«baked beans» tasted like Hormel Chili with some sort of really bad, raw spice in them. And both the macaroni and potato salads were Reeser’s salads. I’ve been eating these awful salads my whole life – I know them when I taste them. If you are looking for BBQ in SW Portland, do yourself a favor: go to Buster’s or Famous Dave’s or, even, Ruby Tuesday. They may be chain restaurant type places, but they are reliably okay. And you won’t pay $ 30 for terrible food that you can’t eat like I did!

This is one of my favorite BBQ spots in the Portland-metro area and I am fortunate/unfortunate enough to live only a couple miles away. While driving down Hall you can see and smell the smokers that are out in the parking lot(always a good thing for a BBQ spot). Since I tend to be a creeper — I love to wait until someone comes out to grab more meat out of it. It is like a treasure chest… of meat! The best kind of treasure for sure! The doors open and wafts of the most delicious smelling smoke begin to billow out of it. Mmm. Smokey-meaty goodness. The portions are HUGE. Which is great for sharing or for having left-overs. My personal favorites are the baby-backs which are moderately priced and always are falling off the bone. Everything comes doused in their BBQ sauce. It is a little sweet for my taste but they are happy to put it on the side if you request it. The owner is a hoot too. He is about as friendly as they come. Strike up a conversation with him and you will quickly see the passion he has.
