Timmy was my Christmas comic elf today! What a great gem of a shop and extremely friendly, helpful guys there. So glad I found this shop tucked away next to Dominos. See you again soon, guys!

It’s easy to get a comic store wrong; many shops are too small, barely lit or short on airflow. Arsenal is the opposite — roomy enough for all the comics, games, gaming tables and a couch, well-lit, and the air conditioner is pumping. But the really important thing is the comics. You want a current release? No problem. They’ve got enough for pull-file members as well as the general public. And if you fall behind, you can have Timmy or Paul order you back issues at no additional charge. They’ve also got a giant wall of trade paperbacks, collected volumes and graphic novels. And if you’re looking for board games, Arsenal has a great selection of those as well. And again, if you don’t see something you want, mention it and it can be ordered. Arsenal also has a good selection of action and collectible figures and Funko Pops. The only real problem is how easy it is to impulse buy in the store. If you’re local and have a pull file elsewhere(and you’re sick of making the drive to Simi Valley), it might be time to check out Arsenal!

Newbury Park & Thousand Oaks has been missing a shop like this for a while so needless to say I was glad to have a local store open up in town last year. They have a large selection of comics, graphic novels, and games(including many I’ve never even seen or heard of before). I’m not much of a comic guy myself(though some of the Star Wars stuff has definitely caught my eye) and the reason I love this shop is that they do Magic the Gathering events. For those of you looking for a local place hosting FNM draft nights on Fridays, this is your best bet. It’s a casual, laid back environment to draft and have fun in. The players I’ve met are nice and it was easy to make a few friends just from playing there. The best part for magic players is that they also do pre-releases, including a midnight one from Friday night into Saturday morning. The midnight pre-release was a godsend to me because it means I no longer have to EVER go out to a certain store in Camerillo that myself and a few of the other guys I play magic with here really dislike. There’s finally a local store with nice staff and people to play at. I mostly see Tim and Luke in the shop at the times I’m there and both guys are friendly and laid back, always willing to help you find what you’re looking for or give advice on what to buy. It’s partly their fault I’m getting into the Star Wars X-Wing game after the Wizards of the Coast miniatures game stopped being made. I’m loving it so far. All in all it’s a great shop and I know that I’m not coming back here… without money to spend on Magic and other awesome stuff!

Very cool little shop. I recently moved back to the county and have been searching for an LCS to reignite my comic obsession, which has been pretty tough outside of the valley or LA. The guys who work here are personable and very helpful, especially compared to a certain shop in Simi Valley who audibly scoffed and rolled their eyes at me when I asked if they could order Court of Owls vol. 1. The fellas at Arsenal did not act annoyed or exasperated with my(generally outdated) comic book knowledge and helped guide me to a couple books I would never have picked up. By the way, Animal Man is fantastic! I’m glad that there’s a shop like this out here without the pretension or cynicism that plague a lot of my favorite old haunts, and it’s especially refreshing to enter a store and not be ignored. These guys have definitely earned my repeat business, and I urge anyone in the area looking for a new shop to head over and check them out.

Best place in town to nerd out and get my Star Wars comics. Really nice young guys working here, I think the dudes name is Tim. He knows what comics I like and sets them aside for me which is just so great. Saves me from 2 – 3 trips a month to just 1. Nice clean neat store, and they’ll help you find whatever you need. Prices are right too!

Really warm welcome when you walk in, younger group that is very helpful and offers suggestions for good reads. Some older comics priced really well. If I’m back this way I would def come back. Also got a couple newer variant books at retail.

I normally only review restaurants, but this place is the bees knees. I could wax poetic for days on the amazingness that is Arsenal Comics & Games. I mean, for one thing, I was once customer of the month. This is the only business to ever have recognized my true grandeur properly. Simply by entering the store you feel yourself lifted from lameness to greatness(I hear if you buy things, you feel even better). Timmy and Paul are the esteemed proprietors of this establishment. They’re alright, I guess. I mean, they made me customer of the month once(did I mention that yet?), so they can’t be ALL bad. The selection is solid, and if they don’t have it then they’ll get it for you like some sort of comic getting hitmen. True story. I think there was a little blood on my issue of Jem #1. Real talk though, I’ve shopped at a lot of comic shops over the years with varying degrees of success. This is my favourite.

A comic book store in NP! Lots of toys. Something to do there almost every night. What I love most though is the service, I get comic books held over for me if I ask.

Great new comic shop. Small with a lot of heart. Weekly subscription benefits as well as a gaming area. Some back issues ranging from fair market value to $ 1. Some great pre made sets with modest pricing. My favorite thing about this shop? The price of their key issues! Best prices in town! I drive out from the San Fernando Valley all the time just to see what’s on display. The owners are great. Awesome customer service with a relaxed atmosphere. Definitely worth a stop!
