This restaurant is phenomenal! The service, the food, and the prices are all excellent. We loved the chips and salsa, and it only got better from there. The three of us enjoyed our dishes very much: the caldo de pollo, the crispy been tacos, and the beef fajita enchiladas. The dishes were incredibly tasty and we got so much food with each of them! We will definitely come back here.

Have eaten here so many times and the food is so good I will always come here to eat when I am in the area. Fast service and the staff is so very friendly. You can tell the owners take great pride in the place based on the staff they get and the food they serve. You get large portions for the price you pay. You will not leave hungry, in fact, you get so much food, be ready to ask for a doggy bag!!!

Cheap, Tex-Mex and Delicious! It cannot get any better then that when it comes to Taqueria Vallarta! I have been to this place the last 10 years and I absolutely love it! It is one of the few delicious places in Texas City and they have never disappointed me in their food quality and service. Their salsa is out of this world good and consistent as far as the taste, sometimes it may be a little more spicier or mild but I am good with either one. The family owned restaurant are very dedicated to their business and consistently greet their customers. My all time favorite meal is their chicken and beef enchiladas, for a lighter meal their half order of nachos hit the spot! Their margaritas are not to bad for $ 4.50 so honestly I cannot complain and with two I have more than enough.

Not my first choice but on the other hand the food the food was good. It was my first time eating here but I would go back. They have great salsa, drinks not pricey at all. Couldn’t really understand the waitress cause of language barrier but they did get the order correct the first time. An waitress was prompt an always checked on us.

My first visit here and I gotta say, I had a good time. It had been a long day and I was desperately craving seafood. The family wanted Mexican so we came to a compromise and there we were. The lemonade was cool and refreshing, but the sweet tea tasted as if it had been sitting out for too too long. It almost tasted sour. The food though was really good. The fried fish and shrimp were slightly over done, but the fish kept its integrity. Mostly I was impressed with their enchiladas. The whole thing would have gone better, I’m sure, if they hadn’t been so packed. The atmosphere was nice, there was a lot of energy; and the food could have been better, but I was pleased. I’d like to give it another chance. Right now, I would still recommend.

I love this place, they have authentic mexican food! Not any of that texmex food. The waitresses are always friendly and attentive. I have been coming here for years and they never dissapoint. I usually order the mojarra(whole fried fish), or a couple tacos de tripa(intestines) but if your not into that the chicken and bed fajitas are really good and pretty cheap too.

Wow, stop her if you want a lot of good food for a great price. We were traveling through, needed lunch and saw reviews so decided to try it out. I got a taco and enchilada plate, choosing a pork leg taco and the avocado taco for some variety. The taco was loaded with meat — pork was tender and spicy. A ado was pretty mild but a nice balance. My wife was going to opt for a taco combo but the waitress helpfully pointed out that one of the daily specials was 3 beef tacos for $ 4.99. Tough to beat. If we weren’t traveling we would have opted for the chips and salsa to go. A great deal for $ 1.50 for 8 oz.

Better than 3 but not quite a 4. We stopped for breakfast on a road trip. Colorful interior, clean and no crowd between 8 and 9 on a Monday morning. I had the huevos rancheros and my husband had the eggs with fajitas. Both were reasonably good — especially for the price! — except that my eggs were a little under done(some areas of runny whites). My husband said the eggs and fajitas were fabulous(and he would have gone with 4 stars!). Refried beans were good. We ordered the flour tortillas. The waitress said they did not make their own. They were a little thick but OK.(Note: chips and salsa are extra at breakfast. We didn’t spring for the $ 1.50 because we’re watching our waist lines. Uh huh. At a Mexican restaurant. Whatever.) The service was fine… I don’t have to have chipper before I’ve had coffee! The service was attentive and the coffee was good. The service was friendlier if you spoke Spanish — I think the«less friendly» service other reviews spoke of is more a function of people concentrating and trying to get the order right than anything else. Deal with it. You’re in Texas and this is a Mexican restaurant! We’d eat here frequently if we were local, given the solid quality and the prices.

Probably more like 3.5 stars, but they give you a load of food for cheap. Check out their lunch specials(they usually have 3 on the white board) for around $ 5. Quesadillas, jalisco burrito, beef or chicken fajita salads are all good bets here. Their salsa is refreshing and good, not spicy, and service is quick. Pay at the counter when you are finished eating. Your waitress may or may not bring a check, depending how busy they are.

Working class all the way. Home spun, sit down and eat until you pop. Mine was the special carnitas with the usual sides. Did include nopalitos pan seared. Fire roasted at one point but vinegary as they likely came out of a jar. The pork tasted as though it was braised in a savory liquid. They didn’t trim away much of the connective tissue. You know what’s left in the mouth. Wife enjoyed a chicken and beef fajitas. Good all round. The charro beans were exceptional. Over all, nothing to crow about but a solid offering of epic proportions. The menu is extensive. There are likely a few gems hidden. Ours were lower on the scale but still«valuable.»

They make a pretty good Mexican breakfast. You get a lot of food at a very reasonable price. We come in fairly often, and the waitstaff remembers us and can usually place our order without our having to tell them. This is absolutely my dad’s favorite place to eat breakfast.

If you’re in Texas City, you’re probably lost. But if you’re lucky enough to be lost in Texas City and you want a great, cheap breakfast, this is it! We actually landed in Texas City on purpose to fish for the weekend. I searched Unilocal for«breakfast restaurants» near me and saw this one and decided to give it a try. We got there a little after 11:30 a.m. on a Sunday and I was sure we had beaten the church crowd but either everyone in this town opts for breakfast over church or they all go to the early service. Either way, we had to wait about 5 minutes or so which wasn’t a problem. We were sat and looked at the huge menu and were surprised by the ridiculously affordable prices. They DO charge for chips and salsa($ 1.75) if you want them with your breakfast, and let me just say you DO want them with breakfast. Salsa was great although I think the chips were«bought» and not made there. I got Rancheros de pappas(I could be wrong about the name) but basically it was potatoes in rancheros sauce, refried beans topped with two eggs and tortillas(I like that they offer you either corn or flour tortillas). My meal was $ 4.50, and no that is not a typo. My eggs were a little over cooked. They were suppose to be over medium but they were more like over super well-done with a rubbery bottom and egg crust around the edges. The tortillas were delicious as were the potatoes and refried bean(off the hook good!). My hubby had the fajita breakfast which came with a generous helping of really good fajita meat, refried beans and two PERFECTLY cooked eggs(over medium) so I DO know they CAN make perfectly cooked over medium eggs! That’s why I we with 5 stars and not 4. Of course he got tortillas too. His meal was $ 5.99. The servings are more than generous. The plates are HUGE, I mean they must be over 12″ from end to end and it is full from rim to rim. When I was full it looked as though I had just eaten my two eggs and barely touched my potatoes or beans. My hubby was able to eat more than ½ of his and it’s not often that he can’t clean a plate of at a breakfast restaurant. I can’t wait to come back and try their lunch or dinners. If the refried bean are this good, that’s a good indication to me that they probably have amazing Mexican rice and that’s my favorite thing about eating Mexican food. I want to address the service since I noticed others had complained about it. Nobody was overly friendly, I didn’t feel all warm and fuzzy but I did think we were well taken care of. Our water, soda and coffee were refilled regularly and we were checked on often. We like to find these mom and pop restaurants that are off the touristy path and what I have found is a lot of places like this don’t have the same level of warmth as chains with highly trained help. These places tend to be run by family members and it doesn’t matter if it’s Mexican, Chinese or whatever, they just don’t coddle the customers and make small chitchat like other restaurants do. PROS: Easy to find, easy in/out. Delicious breakfast food. Generous portions, almost too much food. PRICE! Good service, our drinks were never empty. No small talk, chitchatting from the staff serving you(I moved this from CON to PRO after some thought). Even though it was packed, it was surprisingly quiet. They had decent bathroom tissue paper. CONS: It was crowded and you may have to wait, but not long. You may have to park in the gas station parking lot next door as we did. It’s no farther to walk than if you park in the back. Their bathrooms could use a good DEEP cleaning and remodel.

I’ve eaten here twice and both times it stunned me how low their prices were– but the food was really good! At breakfast time it was packed, but the breakfast tacos were still flavorful and fresh tasting, but I noticed they don’t make their own tortillas, so that was kind of a bummer. Dinner time was a lot less crazy, and I had the carne guisada and wow! It was so tender you could’ve cut it w/a spoon– really delicious. It’s a great«go to» place for classic Tex-Mex at good prices.
