The bbq meat was really salty. We had ribs, sausage & sliced brisket. The cole slaw & pea salad were great!

Amazing meal! I’m on a very strict diet and the manager was incredibly accommodating. I haven’t had anything this tasty out at a resturant in yrs. The waitress was a doll! Thank you very much for such stellar service!

Bbq brisket and turkey was really good. Sauce was a great taste. Coleslaw wasn’t the best, but the bbq meats made up for it. Portion size is adequate. Atmosphere is something to be seen. Really cool! Overall, it is worth a stop.

Best ribeye steak in the area, hands down. The service is not that bad. But the taste of the ribeye outweighs any shortcomings the service may have. I’ve also found that the steaks are much better during the weekdays than the weekend.

I don’t even no where to begin. Last night my husband called in an order and picked it up and drove it home(15 miles round trip). Once he got home we realized that we were missing a sandwich and that the grilled chicken salad was fried chicken. He called Clem’s and made them aware of the problem. When he hung up he said that the guy that answered the phone was abrupt and rude. So, needless to say he drove back to get the order corrected and instead of them having the order right and ready for him the girl working in the front said,“so you don’t want this food?” He told her that he wanted the correct food and that really they should replace the other food he had purchased as it was home getting cold on the counter. She didn’t reply but took the food walked away… he waited for nearly 20 more minutes and was told they couldn’t compensate him in anyway other than correcting the food he brought back. When he explained he would have to go home and eat cold food and that he had to waste his gas for their mistake she just stared at him. WOW… what awful customer service… I just cannot express enough what an awful staff this place has along with mediocre food. I will drive to Belton or even to Harker Heights to Rudy’s the next time we want bar-b-que. To «Clem & staff» you should be ashamed your establishment.

The worst ribs I have ever had, this place is expensive and has the worst bbq I’ve ever had. This place really sucks.

I gave this place 1 star because the building is nice. As far as the food and experience that’s another story. I suppose at some point over the years this business must have been the only BBQ in Temple. That is not the case in 2015. We ordered several items and they were all how do I say blah! I don’t typically write low reviews but I’m not sure why this place is so popular because it can’t be for true taste. It’s over priced big time and you have to pay for everything. Will not return or recommend. The reviews reflect this establishment.

The food was OK, but we waited over 30MINUTES for our BBQ, it came Luke warm, our sides of fries never came, but on the bright side, they comped our dessert, but I see no reason for us to stop here again.

Terrible! The ribs were raw and the brisket was tough and not tender. The staff was rude and everything was way overpriced! Some would say you can spend as little as 6 bucks but that 6 bucks only covers your sandwich. You still have to pay for sides and a drink separately. Don’t eat here!

Pork tenderloin was dry, ½ # burger was dryer than that and that should never happen moist and juicy is what I look for. Brisket wasn’t quite as bad. Nice server good service. Place was busy but not packed. Doubt I’ll be darkening the door here again. Shoepfs in Belton is much better.

I had the rib plate. The ribs were smoked and fell off the bone, but the meat was a little dry, as though it was sitting around for some time. Juices didn’t flow when I cut into it. The green beans were over cooked and a little soggy, and the macaroni and cheese tasted home made, but was a little dry. The meal does not come with cornbread, so I guess that has to be ordered as a side. The bbq sauce, the most important part for me, was very watery. It tasted like a mustard base but lacked spice and heartiness. The best thing about my meal was the blue berry cobbler. The service was very good, but the restaurant was relatively empty. The ambience is really nice, rustic, and charming. I wouldn’t return to this place, simply because they feel short on the most important aspects of bbq for me.

Absolutely the worst bbq ive ever had. brisket was over cooked and ribs were flavorless. I give it one star because the sweet tea was ok and the waitress was nice.

Clem’s… Probably wouldn’t return. I had smoked turkey and sausage. Eh. Pretty generic. Plate wasn’t too hot. The turkey was kinda like lunch meat and the sausage wasn’t freshly cooked. The potato salad was similar to that of a cafeteria. Broccoli salad was damn good. The service was pleasant and trying. Overall I felt like I was in a National Lampoons Family Vacation Movie.

I really expected the traditional counter service at Clems. Why did you change this to table service? It takes such a long time. I get it. The waitstaff needs their money. Friendly young ladies but this is Central Texas BBQ. You stand in line, choose your meats and sides, sit down and eat. Don’t try to be something you are not. The meats were OK. You can find better Q almost anywhere. The taxidermy gets a little«Disneyesque». I miss the old Mikeskas.

An exceedingly good stop for some Texas style BBQ. They have a clean and classy environment with good service. Easy to access from I-35. A lot of taxidermy to look at and nice bathrooms.

Hubby and I were in town for work and stopped by for a bite. The outside of the building was a guarantee of good BBQ inside. We had the brisket and sausage, Delicious!!! They have a BBQ sauce different than we had ever had but it was a perfect compliment to the meat. Thanks guys!

Not sure why there are so many low reviews on here! Stopped today and ordered the 12 oz ribeye and my hubby ordered the salmon. I also ordered fried shrimp to accompany my meal. The steak was juicy and cooked perfect to medium how I like it. Shrimp were scrumptious. My hubby’s salmon was good too. Side salads came out with homemade ranch which is so much better than the bottled crap so many restaurants have. Only reason we deducted a star was because the green beans were too mushy and the broccoli was just ok. We love veggies and were a little disappointed by those but everything else was really good! We will be back!

Clem Mikeska’s virtually predates when dinosaurs roamed Texas and surely was here before the current hipster/artisan BBQ trend. I remember as a kid that it was one of the few BBQ places on I-35 between Austin and Dallas, so there’s some nostalgia here for me. I also remember when it was in a much smaller building. So, nostalgia aside, how was it? It’s ok. It’s probably better than most people give it credit for. But when you’re comparing against the Texas Monthly Top 50, it’s mighty pedestrian. My brisket was ok, although maybe a bit lean/dry. Ribs were ok at best. Both of my sides were good as were the homemade rolls. Clearly, there’s probably better BBQ on the I-35 corridor, but I’d stop back at Clem’s for two reasons. First, the service at this sit down restaurant is excellent. Think small town Texas diner. Second, the menu is more like a small town Texas diner as well with the steaks, burgers, and various fried dishes as well as BBQ.

After 40 years of eating here I am done with the rude employees and the overpriced food. Meat was lukewarm at best, corn on the cob was old. It was a quick downhill slide for this place from a 4 – 5 star BBQ joint to a 1 star overpriced BBQ restaurant. Nice building wish the food and employees were just a s nice

I thought I would give this place a try just because it was close and not to crowded. Started with«O» rings. they were fresh and very good order size was quite large. I went for the chicken and mac /cheese. Both were very ever the bbq sauce was not my style. The bread was very fresh and the pickles were a bread and butter type.(Which I liked). Ill go back again
