I had a reservation on October 31st at 5:00 p.m. When I arrived, they were closed. I called and their number was out of service. Was this some kind of weird Halloween joke?

My company was holding a small(45 – 50 persons) conference at the Tempe Transportation Center and needed a place to serve lunch. We chanced upon Citrine and the lovely and personable manager, who accommodated all our questions and came up with a menu that covered the variety of tastes my customers could possible have at a very affordable price. Lunch time on Monday came and the tables were setup, the food was great, the variety of the cuisine was astounding, and the staff was attentive. I come to find out that not only are they closed on Mondays and that they opened specially for us, but the even owners came in to cook and serve us. The only negative about this was the difficulty I had getting my customers out of there so we could continue with the conference.

Went here for lunch during a conference at the Tempe Transportation Center. You can get here by bike, bus, light rail, or parking your car in the garage right across the street in the parking structure. Citrine is located in the trans center which is adjacent to the ASU football stadium. For our conference, they already had our tables set up for lunch with a delicious mixed green salad with vinaigrette dressing set-up family style. It was super fresh and had a ton of veggies. The sandwiches were served from the bar, the chicken salad was delicious and not drenched in mayo. The ham and mustard was delicious too. The servers were prompt and friendly and they offered 3 types of iced tea. Couldn’t ask for anything more – great lunch!

Love this place! They have the best charcuterie boards! The pizzas are also really good. Great place to go right before the ASU games.

This is one of the most well-balanced Italian menus with great cocktails I come in to in a long time. They have a great blend of regional and Italian wines. The 12 layer lasagna and the great service really stood out. I’ll probably come there for lunch next week, to get my fix again! I definitely recommend giving this place a try!

Fantastic food at a fair price point! Wonderful Service. We stopped into dinner at Citrine before catching a show at ASU Gammage Theater. As it was date night, I was searching for a restaurant that was going to be a bit more dressed up than the standard Tempe fare. Upon walking into the space, I was immediately impressed by the sleek, modern décor and open kitchen concept. We were promptly greeted by a warm staff, including our wonderful server, Amanda. We decided to share a few items off of the antipasti menu and share an entrée since we were catching a show. We ordered the house-made burrata, roasted bone-marrow and asparagus with egg. To our surprise(and future delight), each dish was beyond what we expected in terms of portion size. With each bite, it was hard to determine which of the three starters was best. The bone marrow was perfect in every-way. It’s served with house-pickled red onions and crusty Noble bread. The burrata was also wonderful, w/charred tomatoes and a nice pesto(also w/Noble bread). The asparagus was cooked to perfection with truffled mushrooms and an oozy egg. For our main course, we ordered the braised beef w/whipped polenta and rstd. root vegetables. Unfortunately, we ran out of time before the show and had to run. Our server was kind enough to quickly box our entrée up and present the bill, allowing us to make the curtain-call. The restaurant even held our leftovers while we attended the show. We returned afterwards to pick-up our extras and decided to stay for desert. Although the dessert menu is limited, both options sounded incredible. Our server recommended the brownsugar cake w/crème anglaise and toasted hazelnuts. Unsurprisingly, it was also very well executed and quickly vanished. The only miss of the night was the lack of coffee service, which our server kindly explained would be added soon. Forgivable since the restaurant has only been open for a few weeks. All and all, it was great meal. Looking forward to many return visits. Highly recommended.

Amazing food and craft cocktails. Fresh Italian food. The bartender, also named jake, with the handlebar moustache is incredible, personable, attractive, friendly, smells nice, attentive, handsome, and knowledgeable

Citrine is a new gem located in the heart of Tempe. South of ‘A’ Mountain just West of the stadium next to the transit center. A creative twist on traditional italian dishes, and woodfired dishes across the menu. So far, I’ve had the Foccacia Deruvo, Burrata, Roasted Beets, Polpetti, a few pizzas, and the Veggie Charcuterie Board. All of which have exceeded my expectations compared to other restaurant’s versions of these classics(flatbreads, bruschettas, meatballs, pizza, etc…) Desserts are on point(the Warm Brown Butter Baby Cake is my jam). In addition they have a full bar for the most part, and due to the fact that they are still in their infancy, I’m sure they will continue to advance their draft beer selection. But hey it’s full of local draft beers and hey… they’ve got Jameson on tap! All in all. I’ll give Citrine 5 stars for the delicious grub, and personable staff. Everyone seems to enjoy being there, and make it a point to learn who their neighbors are. Congrats to Nick and Chef Peter for creating a classic vibe in a young city. Do you miss Monti’s? Come here.

2 words. Charcuterie Board. Citrine is offering some of the freshest and most unique cuisine in Tempe. Citrinr offers a wide variety of wood fired eats and delciouslt fresh salumis and cheeses. Citrine has a great price point for the quality of what you are getting. The place has a great atmosphere and everyone who works there is very polite and nice. The chef even came down and talked to my wife and I after we were finished eating our foccacia and pizzas and it’s great to see a place spend so much time making sure the service is done right. You don’t see that a lot in Tempe. This is an exceptional place to eat and the location is awesome too. A huge bar with wide open widows. Very cool vibe to it. Great place

When I go out to eat I expect the food to be just one portion of why I choose a restaurant, and Citrine is just that. This restaurant is the closest you can get to fine dining in Tempe. Everything from the warm staff, amazingly talented chef Peter DeRuvo, authentic Italian cuisine, and the ambiance of the décor(not to mention two walls of floor to ceiling windows) are just a few of the reasons that make this place my new go-to for a memorable meal! Each wine on their extensive drink menu has been hand selected by their sommelier to please the pallet. Some personal favorite dishes to note would be the Focaccia DeRuvo, Charcuterie boards(Vegetarian options), and for dessert the Italian Upside Down Baby Butter Cake! All of these meals have me wanting to melt in my chair. One of my favorite aspects of this restaurant is the open kitchen. You always know the food is extremely fresh and well executed when the chef isn’t afraid to prepare it in front of you! The interaction between the kitchen and the dining room reinforces the integrity of the quality of the food that is being used. The previous time I was there I also saw that they now have happy hour and are serving fanny bay oysters! Yum! It is so nice to be able to enjoy a cuisine with such variety that is in close proximity to where I live and go to school! I can’t wait to go back soon and sample some more dishes!

The wine selection is outstanding and so is the focaccia deruvo! The charcuterie boards are huge and have a great variety! There’s no place like this in Tempe, it’s the perfect date spot. My boyfriend took me to Citrine and now I got to keep him for life!

So I went in this place looking for Revo pizza and to my surprise it was gone. I almost left and to be honest, I sure am glad that I didn’t. My urge for pizza was quickly dismissed as soon as I saw the meat and cheese board and what looked to be a huge pork chop. Needless to say I got the pork. AMAZING! The service there was best I’ve seen in Tempe in a while. I had this fella Ryan take care of me. Quite the character. Got to meet the owner Nick. Real nice guy. I definitely suggest that you go. No if you’re in Tempe I’d almost have to require it. 2 thumbs up

The food here is fantastic! The ambiance is much more fine dining then the rest of the Tempe area that I’ve seen so far, just like the menu. It’s a perfect place to come relax and have a wonderful dinner with friends or family without having to battle the usual party vibe Tempe area restaurants give off. I had the Foccacia Deruvo and the Chefs Charcuterie board and I would highly recommend both. The cocktails are also very inventive and delicious(I had the Yoga Pants and French 75). I will definitely be going back!

It’s like having Italy right in your backyard. Chef Deruvo and his crew are masters at what they create, every dish I have tried is exquisitely crafted to make sure you savor every last flavor! And sushi style charcuterie boards?! What a way to expand your love of meats and cheeses! Not only the back of the house, but front of the house is equally awesome. Everyone is friendly, fun, and extremely helpful. Glasses of water are always filled, any question about the wine, cocktails, or food can be answered, which really helps with decision making since a lot on the menu was new to me! Whether you’re casual or dressed to the nines, you will feel comfortable and welcome! Check them out and find your new favorite spot in town! I did!
